Luca returned the kiss, letting it linger. He gave Lori a smile."I love you, too," he said. "More than anything." He took Lori's hand. "I never thought the person I love most would teach me to swim."

"And I never thought I'd ever be teaching anyone to swim," Lori said with a little laugh. History, law, human studies, sure. But swimming? He squeezed Luca's hand back.
"Thank you for trusting me."

"I trusted you with my heart first," Luca kissed Lori's cheek. "I know you won't let me drown. But! You could've told me swimming turns you into a starving cavern. Let's go get something to eat?"

"It's good exercise! I used to do a lot of swimming, but they started charging for membership and it just wasn't worth it." He started out of the water and grabbed towels from the cabinet for them both. He took Luca's to him, putting it on his head and ruffling his hair with it while he made a little 'grr' sound. Then he went about actually drying himself. It was weird to have so much hair.
"Where do you wanna go? I'm off for the day now." But he still had to put his suit on to avoid a write-up. Damn dress code. He didn't really think anyone had the balls to actually write him up, but it was best to lead by example anyway.

Luca laughed and pulled the towel from his hair, starting to dry off. "You're starting to look like you need a hair cut," he said, looking at Lori. "Actually, I probably need one too..."
"Sushi place?" He suggested.

"Mm, it is getting a bit long," Lori agreed, letting a lock of hair fall in his face. He used to just keep it buzzed, or at least fairly short, but Luca had said he liked it longer and so he'd started keeping it longer. He'd started liking it, too. He could even forgive it those infernal flippy curls at the ends. His stylist had helped him with those.
"Sure, if you'd like. It's half-off rolls night too."

"I'm starting to look like a girl," Luca muttered, shaking his head. Well, more of one. His body type didn't help any. "Lucky, then. Let's go get dinner." He went and pulled open the screen they'd used earlier, getting dressed.

Lori resisted the urge to slap Luca's bum as he joined him behind the screen and just grinned.
"You'll never look like a girl, love. You've got too good a bone structure for that." His body was sort of waifish, sure, but his face was strong. At least Lori thought so. There was more brief nudity, then swimsuits stowed away and the couple was heading out.
"I'm proud of you, you know. I don't think people usually learn that fast."

Luca beamed. "Well, I suppose most people aren't over one hundred when they learn to swim." He swayed their hands happily. "Thank you for teaching me."

"I think you'd be surprised!" Lori said. Entities learned new things decades and sometimes centuries after their birth. Hell, Lori had taught a one-hundred-and-thirty-five-year-old centaur how to use a computer last year. He happily swayed hands with Luca, not caring who saw.
"Of course, love! If there's ever anything you want to learn or do, just tell me. We can do it together."

"Maybe. I'm sure there's other displaced Irish elves," Luca smiled at Lori. "We should learn something together," He said. "But what?" They were both lousy at cooking, but Lori was already getting lessons from Toby.

Lori made a thoughtful sound and wrapped an arm around Luca's waist as they started out of the pool room. "I'm sure we'll think of something."

It happened so quickly. Emergencies were just as the name implied; fast, immediate, needing attention as soon as possible. The news came down from the top toward the highest ranking, the most highly trained. They had the night to collect their things and would be flying out in the morning.
High priority. Human capture.
Toby picked up the phone to make a call as he left. Dari split from him and headed for Cody's apartment. He stood there, brow furrowed, frowning , looking through the floor. He'd never had someone he had to say goodbye to like this.

Cody heard Dari coming down the hall towards his door; and when the knock came, he was ready. He swung the door open and wrapped Dari in a hug. "Hi love," he greeted, giving him a smile.
