Death, taxes, et al... In addition to dieting, I'm trying to be consistent w/ exercise since my job & hobbies are so sedentary.
I'll be gone most of next week for a family reunion; I'll still be on Discord, though.

I never see you on discord . . . and we really haven't taken off much there. I'm not done trying, mind you.
The exercise is good for burning some calories and bulking up but what you intake is far more important for dieting. Just keep an eye on things and do it right, sir. Weight loss is not worth health loss.

I come from a medical family, so I'm keeping it healthy.

Oh yeah, I forgot that was happening. Always liked Venom/Carnage, so I may have to give that a watch.

Venom is getting slammed in reviews, but critics & audience disagree at times; glad you liked it.

I think the critics are the people that are forced to see and review it. Some wanted to, others didn't, but when all are taken into account, such will lower the score. Also, reviewers are watching with the intent of dissecting the film. How does it look? Is the sound mixed right? Is the script passable? These sort of things that moviegoers don't think about.
Whereas yutzes like me watch it because we are interested. We already are wanting to like it. On top of that, we are wanting to see if it is enjoyable, not technically proficient. I think wanting to see and enjoy it overseeing if it is a well-made film in all aspects makes a huge difference in the review score.

Yes, critics definitely have a different lens. I remember back when the wordless indie game Journey was released how much accolade it garnered despite it being an okay game at best. Regarding film, once I found out about the Orange & Teal preponderance, I saw it everywhere, so there definitely as an aspect of analysis that can interfere w/ enjoyment.

Curious. I really hadn't noticed until now. It seems to be a simple psychological trick, but effective none the less.

Nowadays the big irksome one is the slow-zoom for dramatic effect, usually for PSA-type messages.

I watch so little traditional media anymore, I feel like I'm losing touch with the things that you're irritated about. Almost everything I watch anymore it's just Anime that I have on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and very occasionally Hulu. The vast majority of my entertainment comes on YouTube with much less production value, or desire to do the slow Zoom or color coordinate.

In my experience it's actually most infamous on YouTube when creators have a serious or apology video. Along w/ quiet piano music, they camera will ever so slightly and very slowly zoom while the person talks.
Agreed, I don't miss TV at all; there are still a few good shows, but thankfully those are on streaming platforms.
