Ryou's breath caught in his throat when he saw Kira. It had been so long, oh god. Tears stung his eyes, but he forced himself to look away. Even though it had been long ago, he remembered Bakura's words about her and Malik. She had probably moved on. His heart thumped painfully in his chest, and he bit his bottom lip, tasting blood once more. He knew he was below Kira, that he hardly deserved her. It had been so long as well. And what about Kat? All these thoughts left his mind as he almost shyly approached her. "Kira...?" He asked faintly, not even thinking. It was as though his body was being taken over by someone else. He held her hand gently, distantly aware that he didn't even have his ring. "...will you marry me?"

Kiras eyes grew wide as dinnerlaces as ryou spoke.There was a rush of power as shewas relised from mariks control.Her eyes filled up with tears "yes.." she said pulling ryou close and hugging him tight "I will.."

Ryou melted into her embrace, exhaling softly, not even aware that he had been holding his breath. "...thank you..." He said, hardly caring that he was probably bleeding on Kira and that his yami was standing a few feet away and that he looked weak. He closed his eyes, his tears escaping.

Stepping into the bedroom, Atem checked on Marik first. Unconscious, but otherwise okay. He looked at the other girl, and decided they should take her to the hospital. He would have to go anyway, to check on Ember. Looking over at Ryou and Kira, he decided that Ryou needed to go as well. He couldn't help but hide a small smile. It had taken the two long enough to come to this point. Bakura rolled his eyes. Way too mushy for him. Pausing, he stepped over Marik and withdrew the Millennium Rod from the yami's pocket and slipped it into his trench coat's larger ones. He knew that Marik would be quite angry upon awakening, and decided that it would be best if he didn't have a power source to drag Ryou back to him by taking over half the people's minds in the city. Marik always was a sore loser. Now, to get busy again... He glanced back at the mushy scene, and prodded through Ryou's mind, quickly getting the information he needed: what had happened. And he couldn't help but wince. But he got over that and started to implant just a little doubt about Ryou's relationship with Kira. To keep them busy. He was a little surprised to already find a rather large amount of doubt already.
Ryou cried, not only because he was happy-- or was he?-- or relieved-- mostly about the terror of Marik being over-- but because what he had done started to sink in. She had said yes, sure, but was this really all? There was no way it could be that easy. Of course, he went through about a year of living with Marik to be able to see Kira again, and that was no easy task. Choking back sobs, he pulled away from Kira, hiding his face in his hands instead of crying on his shoulder as he had just been doing. He tried to form words, but he just couldn't. Not the words he wanted to say, anyway. "I-I don't have a ring." He said brokenly. "M-M-Ma-Mar--" He was unable to say the yami's name, and just skipped over it. "H-he stole it from m-me a while ago an-and I'm pr-pretty sure that he th-threw..." He broke off with a small gasp, wiping his eyes on the back of his hand. He had been not only unable to say what he wanted to, but he couldn't even say his random gibberish properly.

Kira hugged ryou agian "Its ok ryou its ok....we can get one later.." she said.

"No, it's not okay..." Ryou whimpered, shivering. He glanced behind him when he heard a sound and saw Atem trying to pick up a body. "Kat!" He exclaimed, having forgotten about her in the moment. He rushed from the hall into the bedroom, to check on her.
"She's still alive." Atem said comfortingly. "Just unconscious, I hope. But we'll still have to take her to the hospital-- you too."
Bakura blocked the door of the bedroom, glaring at Kira. "Just to clear some things up, both of you-- since the only things you talked about was proposing, I'll tell you what's been going on. She--" Bakura pointed at Kira. "--has been going out, perhaps gone farther than that, with Malik and has been rather thrilled about. Ryou fell for Kat there, seeing as they both were pretty much slaves under the same master, and they see each other just about every day. And now Kira shows up after a year of not caring, and Ryou abruptly proposes. Everything clear now?"

Kira blinked.Once she was relised from marik's power all memorys of the past time dissapeered "I did?" she asked itching her head confused.

Bakura blinked, then grinned. "Of course, Kira. Remember coming to California and meeting up with Malik and Ishizu again?" He led her into the living room so that Atem could get Kat out of the house. "Well not too long after we arrived, Marik must have set his eye on Ryou. He took you over with his Rod, giving you a rather large crush on Malik, and making you pretty much forget Ryou." He paused, looking thoughtful. "Hm... A year must have passed at this point. Marik snatched Ryou away, and sent Ember into a coma that she's just awoken from. While you are able to blissfully forget all that happened, my dear hikari gets to carry all of his previous excitements until he cracks-- again-- and what's left of his mental health vanishes." He leaned forward on the couch, peering at Kira. "Now, I would be able to go through Ryou's mind and fix things up a little. Take away some things, add a reason of why so much time passed. Unless you want him to bear all of the pain he's gone through with Marik, which, I must say, I've already looked through and isn't pleasant at all."

Kira was silent for a moment trying to exsorb everything.Last thing she rembered was getting off the plane..It really had been a year? "alright.." kira said softly.

Bakura nodded, getting to his feet. Atem came into the living room, holding Kat. "Can somebody get a cab? We walked here, and we have to get to the hospital." Ryou trailed after Atem, feeling worthless, wondering why he didn't try to help in some way. His head spun, though, and he decided that it wouldn't be good if he tried to help, since he'd probably screw up. He jumped when a cold hand was placed against his forehead and Bakura was standing in front of him. "What..?!" "Just helping." Bakura muttered, shifting through Ryou's memories. He was careful as he removed some, making sure that there wasn't anything the boy knew about Kat, and only a little bit of Marik. He made Ryou aware that his mind had been tempered with, and knew the very basics of what happened, but not much other than that. Ryou made a small sound of protest, but slumped forward as Bakura removed his hand, fainting from exhaustion. The yami caught the boy involuntarily, then made a disgusted face. "Kira, please remove him or else I will drop him."

Kira went over and scooped up ryou.She then headed outside stoping a cab "come on"

At the hospital, after Kat and Ryou had been taken away to be patched up, Atem decided to go to Ember's room. "So you already told her about Ember?" He asked Bakura, hoping that the other yami did. "Tch. It's not as though she isn't standing five feet away from you." Bakura said with a roll of his eyes. "But yes, pharaoh, she is aware that Ember was in a coma, at least."
