"Yeah!" Lori said with a nod, "Legs too. Try to keep them mostly under the water. You don't have to make huge movements to stay up." His hand stayed firmly under Luca's belly and the other was ready should he tip over.

Luca started kicking with his feet, trying to keep them underwater. "Really?" he asked. He didn't need to move a lot to stay up? That was useful information, he wouldn't have to tire himself out trying to swim then.

"Alright. You feel pretty good, are you ready for me to let go?" Lori asked. He smiled over at Luca, craning his neck so they could make eye contact. "I'll keep right by your side."

The truthful answer was no. No, he wasn't ready and no he didn't want Lori to let go--but he'd be right there. "Alright," he said. He'd try. Probably sink, but he'd try.

Lori let his hand go down slowly, just in case Luca's belly was going to come with it, but it didn't. Lori grinned and nodded toward the shallower end.
"Go ahead, Swim Master. I'm right here." He walked just beside Luca, hands at the ready.

Luca doggypaddled towards the shallow end as indicated. This was easier than he'd thought! It wasn't very fast, but it was effective. He started to smile.

Seeing Luca smiling only made Lori's own grin grow. Good! Good, good, Luca was enjoying himself! Lori chuckled and let Luca go a while before coming back up to him.
"Now really, your legs only ever paddle, but you can do different arms if you want. Or we could save that for another day."

"Different arms?" Luca asked, curious. He stood, kissing Lori on the cheek. "Alright, want to show me?"

Lori showed Luca how to cut the water with his fingers and spread out, then how to stroke over his head, letting him try each time and helping to support him every time he started to sink. They were quite a ways into the lesson when Lori finally veered off-topic.
"So I told my parents."

That caught Luca off guard. He stopped floating, starting to sink and then remembering he could stand. "You did?" he asked. "How'd they react?"

Lori made a face similar to a person tasting bitters for the first time.
"Well. Mom thought I was joking, and then when she started crying my dad lectured me and hung up? So, uh. We'll see. My clan, however, seemed delighted?" A little bit of a silver lining there. They had the venue if nothing else.

Not good, judging by Lori's face.
Luca wrapped his arms around Lori. Making his mother cry, and a lecture. Almost a worst case scenario. "Are you alright?" he asked.

Lori nodded and smiled. He wrapped his arms around Luca and gave him a kiss.
"I'm fine. As long as I have you, I'll be just fine. I'm just waiting for the call back. Would you be alright going to visit if they come around? I'd like you to meet them." He pushed a wet lock of red hair out of Luca's face and kissed him.

"You'll always have me," Luca promised, giving Lori a smile. "I'd love to meet them." If they came around. He returned the kiss, and studied Lori. "I'm so lucky to have you."

Lori just smiled more broadly, looked Luca over, and gave him a deepening kiss. It was easy to forget the cameras were there when they were everywhere. It was not a sexual act, but one of love, and he gently touched the side of Luca's face. Sure, getting married as an immortal, that did mean forever. It was an enormous commitment, and he was entirely ready for it.
"I love you." His voice was deep and quiet.
