I see...

Maximos' eyes scanned the ground. It was more than obvious from the look on his face that he most certainly did not agree. With this methodology. He had no real intention of buying anything right now, to do so would empty this poor mans stock and he had no way of carrying it all.

No God, Mortal, or Being, no one at all has the right to decide who should live and who should die, no matter their actions.

He picked up an apple and handed the shop keeper a small gem in payment. A ruby, about the size of a quarter, likely more riches than this shop would ever see.

Interrogation...obedience...or slaughter. No offense Mr. Nexxus, but your tactics are no different than the people your slaying.

He took his first bite of the apple, chewing it rather quickly and swallowing.

If you serve the source of the darkness, that source should be able to remove said powers without having to murder someone unfortunate to be introduced to it.

He shook his head, snapping off the stem of the apple and tossing it to the round.

I think your purpose is flawed, Mr. Nexxus.

"Nobody, and Nothing, is Perfect, Maximos. And please, just Nexxus."

He would smile as Maximos made a purchase, thought also writ in his face.

"You say that nobody has the right to choose who dies... But we do have the right to choose whether or not we allow the innocent to be slain, and the guilty to survive."

He would pause, extending his hand forward to Maximos.

"I want to say... That you have killed someone... That you regret it... Is this right?"

His face was contorted, lost within the very thing that had spiked such a thought.

Perfection does not necessitate the need for life or death.

The apple...really wasnt as good as he was hoping. So he just sort of stood a few feet from the shop gesturing with the apple in hand.

No sir. We do not have the right to decide who is guilty and who is not. That is all simply a matter of opinion...

Maximos just sort of eyed the hand, almost expecting an attack for a moment. Taking a moment to place the apple near his lips...before remembering the bitter taste and just moving it away again.

Many...people...but regret has nothing to do with my opinion, to be honest.

He had that same smile. It never really wavered much, or for long.

Nexxus frowned and watched the man, saying nothing before he motioned.

"Would you like to come back to my hall with me, for a while? I feel it would be better to rest in the shade with our meal... Plus, I don't feel too safe being this far from my equipment, anyway. Not even here." He says with a calm sigh, running a hand through his hair.

Your...hall?

Maximos said, cocking his head to the side after scanning his eyes aross the area looking for anything that might pass for a "Hall".

Nexxus laughed, and merely began to walk away, walking a yard or two before pausing to see if the man was following. If he was, Nexxus would lead the man back to the glass, open-walled, pillar supported "Hall."

Down into it he would go, sitting upon a crate next to the fire and resting his hand on the leather-wrapped handle of a large piece of crystal, stuck into the dirt.

"So."

He states simply, looking into the fire.

Maximos followed with a partially interested look on his face. He ventured into the "Hall", and followed Nexxus to where the man perched on the boxes. And...well...he quite honestly did not know what he was supposed to say or do. He was in an odd strangers domicile, and so he fidgeted a bit looking rather uncomfortable. Last he knew, their conversation had led to an offer to accompany the..."man", here and now that they were here....? Wherever here truly was.

As his host spoke, he just sort of turned his head to face him, eyes attentive.

Yes?

Nexxus would look upward, slowly, causing the streak from his eyes to be chased by their tail a few inches, before he motioned. "Sit, sit." He says with a small nervous chuckle. "I apologize.... I was assuming you'd just relax with me. Make small discussions, and such. Where did you come from, to get here?"

His hand tightened on the sword-in-the-sand, before he'd pull it up and place it infront of himself, back in the sand. It was glass... Mirror reflective, but... dark. Dark as Nexxus. And it seemed alive, in the fact that beneath the purplish-black surface, shadows moved, following objects as they were reflected. If asked, Nexxus would call the weapon, "The Looking Glass."

Oh, Alright. Thank you.

Maximos said searching for something that didnt seem to fragile, and he sat. It wasnt Nexxus' fault, it was more Maximos and his comfortability with new foreign or uncertain locations. After years of adventuring he was just funny that way.

No no, my apologies. I came from an island about a mile north of the island we were just on. It's floating above the ocean, I had come to island looking for a place I could pick up fresh food stuffs for by butler to use. But to meet the scale he requires. I'll probably need to continue frequenting the larger markets.

He nodded. There really wasnt much more to that. His eyes sort of scanned left to right before settling down on the weapon Nexxus pulled from the ground. Maximos wasnt really very good at small talk.

Thats a very interesting weapon, what do you call it?

Nexxus blinked.

"Floating? ... Another one of your... enchantments, I suppose?" His eyes drifted again from the fire, to Maximos. At the topic change, however, he shifted his gaze to the weapon, before pulling it out once more, and giving it to the man.

"I call it The Looking Glass. Sand, Heat, and the stuff from inside me made it." His eyes drifted acrossed the blade, reflected back to his vision as a murky greenish-grey.

Yes indeed it was. It took quite a while to make.

His hand sort of nervously fidgeted around as he scanned the flame, his "host", the weapon.

I see. Its very nice looking.

He was simply not a conversationalist. It just wasnt in Maximos' character. And so he just seemed highly out of place.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 28, 2007 11:25 pm

"You seem agitated. Would you like to do something else? .... I currently have no other purpose, so... I'm game for whatever."

The weapon would once again be placed in the sand.

Both of Maximos' hands rested on his knees. His bicolored eyes meeting Nexxus' yellow, lights.

My apologies, I'm being a bad guest.

He rubbed his palms against the fabric of his knees.

I'm simply not much of a conversationalist I'm afraid. I'm decent with adding a few interjections here and there...and well...

He looked around the room, his eyes hanging on the fire for a bit before returning to Nexxus.

...this is a lovely home you have here its just...well...I dont really know you. And I do happen to be practitioner of "The Darkness", as you so put it. I'm honestly expecting a trap, and to be suddenly attack for not listening to your "void".

That was really the gist of it. Only after a second or two he realized how bad that sounded, and scratched the back of his head.

...Sorry.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 29, 2007 1:14 am

The Hall was not, in any real sense of the words, a home. It was glass pillars supporting a slab of rough-hewn glass over it, and dug out slightly.

Nexxus laughed, and actually rubbed the back of his head, bashfully.

"I wouldn't attack you! You're not doing nothing wrong that I've seen. It is the deed, I require, to dish judgement. And only after the deed has infact been proven done in ill. Using the darkness does not make you bad. To what ends you use it, that decides what I feel I must do...."

After the Sorry, Nexxus would look upwards, eyes soft, emotion obvious in them.

"I'm not some mindless drone, Maxi. I have my will, as all creatures here do. The Void merely gave me... A suggestion, if you will. Right all the wrongs that the Dark-gifted do. Past deeds do not matter to me. Future deeds, undone, shall not be acted upon. What you do in the here and the now... That is all that matters to me." He'd smile, softly, and motion upwards.

"Can you show me your place of enchantments? Can you teach me to control what makes my very existance, Mister Practitioner of The Darkness?" His smile became a playful grin, and he'd even laugh a little bit.

"Lighten up." And even then, he'd laugh at the irony of that statement, a full on, humor-found belly laugh.

Oh. I understand.

Maximos completely, didnt agree with the idea of killing anyone for any reason. Ever. But, he was in this mans....residence, and so he couldnt really say that out loud, or show that in the slightest without being extremely rude. And so he didnt. But then he wanted to see his home...despite his manners he had to speak up.

I'm sorry but its entirely too dangerous. I...

He rubbed his hands on his knees again.

...I cant teach anything to someone who might use the knowledge to kill. Or anyone that would kill to begin with.

He shook his head, still trying to maintain civility.

Its just against who I am. I'm sorry Mr. Nexxus.
