After a while of yet more travelling, Ruuvan and D turned up at the Desert City of Strata, having driven through most of the desert to get there, and stopped once they reached near the centre of town. Even though this might've been the place to start looking, Ruu really had no idea what to do, so he stopped the engine and got out of it once again. "Any ideas where to start looking?" Of course he wasn't expecting an answer, but maybe D could bring the child mind and implement it into something grown up and testing.

:: D was quiet, probably because he was half asleep. But his eyes were half open and his little mind was thinking. They werent deep thoughts, not particularly but to him they mattered. Occasionally he'd make little black drawings on the window with his fingers, but they'd fade away after a few seconds.
His little fingers fiddled with the shadow like play-doh making a little stick man, with a little stick sword and little wings, and he'd fly him around. But then came the little stick man with something that looked like a scythe...and well at that point he put the dolls away and looked at Ruuvan. His legs were folded, and his arms rested on the arm-rest as he curiously asked...::
Mr. Ugwy Ewf, what did Mr Mashimosh look like? Did he fight good, wike you?

Ruuvan nodded and pulled onto the side of the road outside the inn, stopping the engine for the last time that day. Unlike D, pricing did mean something to Ruu, but he'd have to pay by card as the transfer rates from whatever he had to Rupees would've been confusing for his tired mind, but they'd definitely be staying here. "Come on then, D." Ruuvan opened his door and got out, making sure to grab the large black duffel from the back before locking up, also making sure not to lock D inside. Once they had gathered their things and the car was secure, or as secure as something could be with one door missing from the back, the two entered the Inn and made their way to the main counter that presented itself to them.
A tired looking man came out of the back room as the front door was opened, rubbing his eyes slightly before eyeing the two; a tall man with one eye and a kid dressed in dark clothing, very strange indeed, but he had seen worse. "Good evening. I'd like a two bed Master Suite for one night, if possible." The man's eyes widened at this enquiry, what with it being so late and hopes of selling a big room this evening were few and far between, so he hurriedly took down his details and swiped his card through an old looking machine behind the counter. It was all sorted and paid for, making the man smile even more and practically dance on the spot. However, he settled for coming around and leading them to the room personally, even more impressed as Ruuvan said he'd carry his own things, but whatever, he had just made twelve thousand Rupees.
So, to bring it all to a peak, D and Ruuvan were left inside a very nice, dual double bed room with ensuite bathroom facilities and a good view of... the desert. Ah well, you get what you paid for in sleeping facilities. "I call the left one!" Ruuvan shouted out and ran towards the bed, dropping his things at the foot of it and leaping onto the comfy duvet with open arms. Maybe being around D was making his inner child come out more, or maybe he was just in a playful mood for a few moments, but he still acted like a kid in his acts. Once landed, Ruu turned on his side and waited for D to choose a bed, be it his own or sharing with Ruu, before thinking about some sleep.

::There was one odd thing about this particular room. It wasnt attached to the main hotel but rather it was a building down the road. And despite a abundant supply of moonlight the room was pitched black when the man opened the door. He had a few more things to say before vanishing off into the night though.
As he clicked on the lights in the room he saw D and Ruuvan and laughed a tiny laugh, then muttered something under his breath...a human wouldnt hear it, but an elf...::
Dats de sekond group of people dressed in black, meybe I should change de shop name.
::Of course he wouldnt be caught dead saying anything like that outloud. But he did speak up after a slight cough to cover his mutterings.::
I have-to apologize, de last guest scarred de floor.
::And he would gesture to a set of black burn gashes in the floor.::
You and your son sleep vell sir.
::And he was off.::
--
:: D ignored everything the man had said, and as Ruuvan called the left bunk, D squealed....::
Weeeeeeee!
::And ran and jumped on the right bunk, he squished the pillows in his tiny arms and ruffled the covers, before tossing off his vest, and jacket, and leaving only his white dressy shirt, a pair of black boxers and little black socks, the rest of his clothes scattered across the bed.
He of course, proceeded to test the strength and power of the bed, but jumping up and down on it several times before finally sitting on the edge with a the biggest grin imaginable on his face speaking, as it looked like sleep was finally started to take his eyes.
He would hop down off the bed and run up to Ruuvan, though he'd only reach his knees or so, and he would give him a the biggest, tightest, hug he could muster and say...::
Tank you Mr. Ruuvan.
::And he'd wander back into bed, wrapping himself under the covers.::

Ruuvan was surprised to hear what the man said, especially since he was searching for his friend who always wore black and this man had already seen one. Of course, it could've been anyone dressed in black that made the man say that, but the large gash in the floor made Ruu certain Maximos, or someone closely related in the power department, had stayed here. Either way, his train of thought was broke as D leapt across to give him a hug, but he returned it all the same with a pat on the kid's head. Then, with both of them in their own beds and sleep aroud the corner, Ruuvan closed his eyes and said one last thing before going to sleep. "Goodnight, D."

Mnnn....
::Rustling could be heard from the opposite side of the room.::
Brudda....mnnnn...
::Great...the little boy talked in his sleep. The room was pitched black, and several mumblings could be heard from D. He repeated words like "Angel", "Shadow", "Lord", "Brudda...". These seem like normal dreams until the uncomfortable moans started coming from his side of the room, like something was poking him. These was replaced with familiar sounds, familiar to Ruuvan at least, the sounds of battle. Not of swords slashing, but the sounds a person makes while slashing a sword or getting attacked. Soon, this peaked at a cresent as D was heard shouting.::
No!! Get back!! NO!
::Rustling was heard, and yet even if Ruuvan opened his eyes he would see nothing but black. It would feel as if something, something solid, some type of wall had his bed sealed in something that felt like a cold black coffin.::
GET OFF! NO NO!!
:: D's screams grew louder as some sort of sickly laugh began to grow. Tears could be hear pouring on the young boys cries....and then nothing. The laughter grew and grew until finally one loud shout echoed across the room.::
GO AWAY!!!
::The coffin shattered around Ruuvan, and he would be allowed to see D. Still lying in bed arms flailing in mid air. And his sword, the large 5ft Shadow Blade hovering over him with what looked to be a myriad of eyes down the extent of its blade staring down at D. Blue tendrils made their way down from the eyes to the childs chest and head, they seemed to be trying to do "something" to him.
With that final shout D shot up from his slumber and sword vanished. And D was left confused sitting in his own sweat and tears, and very very scared...
When scared most kids run to their parents, D didnt run at all. He just sat, and cried...this wasnt the first time this had happened.::

Coffins, normally an item reserved for the dead, right? Sure, Ruuvan wasn't dead, in that sense anyway, yet he woke up to hear D screaming and found himself in a coffin-type object, but when he reached out to touch the walls of said coffin, he could feel nothing but cold, like all the feeling was being drained out of his hands as soon as it touched the surface. He quickly sat up as the shouts got louder and the laugh started, beating on the sides of his new prison with all the strength he had in him, Sadly, this object was not physical in the normal sense people link it to, either way he couldn't beat through it and he was helpless to stop D's pain or suffering, whatever was happening, but he could still hear it. If there's one thing a warrior does not like, it's having no control over their surroundings - which is exactly what Ruuvan had, or not had as the case was - so he was freaking out inside during this whole thing.
As soon as the walls vanished and he could see D crying in his bed, the sword gone and all voices leaving the room, Ruuvan rushed over to sit in front of the kid, placing both hands on his shoulders in order to try and calm him down. "D, calm down. you're stronger than this, fight through the fear." Of course, if this had definitely happened before, then D should've been able to come around more easily. It didn't matter to Ruuvan though, he just wanted to be there for the kid and find out what in the hell just happened, "D, what was that, who was doing that to you?"

:: D was utterly confused as he looked at Ruuvan. It wasnt like he didnt know Ruuvan was there, it was that he didnt know what he was talking about.
His hands fell from his face to his sides a Ruuvan grabbed him. And he looked at him with teary eyes.::
I - I dunno who...wha? I had dat dream again...
::He shook his head side to side.::
He twied to gwab be again...I dunno why...but he ran away...
::He had managed to fight away the tears with the realization that just as before this was just a dream. But normally that process took hours. With Ruuvan there, and with D's knowledge just how good of a fighter he was it was so much quicker. Yet he still looked slightly disoriented.::

As soon as D had stopped crying and started gathering his thoughts, Ruuvan relinquished his grip on the boy and took a deep breath, calming his own nerves from being locked in a box and hearing the things he heard. "Who was it, D, who was trying to grab you?" Ruu thought it could've been Big Brudda, but why would he do something that mean to someone he ahd cared for; it just didn't make sense. Maybe he'd get some sense out of the boy, maybe he wouldn't, but they still needed to wait until morning before going and doing anything again.

I - I dunno...
::He paused and tried, and he tried very hard to snatch the memory b ack. But have you ever tried to remember a dream. He dragged as much as he could but still came up empty.::
I dunno...I sowwy...
::He was silent and pondering but nothing...The only thing that remained was fear.::
I'm scared...
::He said as he leaned forward to hug Ruuvan. A silent thank you for saving him from this nightmare.::

It was a shame D couldn't remember who was in his dream, even though it might not've been linked to Ruuvan's search about his past, on the other hand it could've held vital clues as to where to look next. Even without a direction, Ruu still had to ask the hotel manager who the other group were and where they were headed next, most likely asking this after scaring the man about being able to hear the most quiet mutterings.
As D leaned in for a hug, Ruuvan took him into a warm embrace and pat his back softly. They definitely needed to go back to sleep, seeing as they'd been awake for a damned long time, and he wondered if D would be able to sleep again. "You think you can go back to sleep again, kiddo?" Ruuvan stood up and moved back into his own bed, laying his head down as he waited for a response.

::Amazing that a boy that runs around all day with a giant sword dressed in black stealing things and what not, would have such a problem asking such a simple question.::
C-c-can I g-g-go with you?
::He says, looking up from Ruuvans chest, his grip tightening his grip just a bit around Ruuvan. It wasnt that he wasnt strong on the outside, he could spar with the best...but inside...sometimes a kid just needed to know that the darkness wasnt out to get him...even if it just was.::

Ruuvan was expecting something like this. Even though he never had any children of his own and as such had never raised one, his manner with them seemed to be that of a good parent of well trained carer. All those thoughts aside and with contemplation out of the way, Ruuvan shifted adjusted himself so that D was lying in the same bed and covered in the quilt. With that hopefully making him secure, Ruu closed his eye again and drifted off to sleep, muttering something before passing out. "I will find you Max."
