Kikue approached one of the tables of food, spying the raw meat laid out decoratively. Curling the pads of her paw around one of the toothpicks, she sampled a piece curiously. The taste was interesting on her tongue. She couldn't place it.

She had just turned to look more closely at another platter of food when she heard the yelp nearby, and the following clanking as a table shook.

Swinging her head around, Kikue stared, surprised, at a girl in a skimpy outfit backing away from...Billy?

The man had degenerated. He was much worse than when she had last seen him...his legs appeared to be gone. He had a haunted, glazed look on his face. And the other girl, Kikue had no idea who she was, but her ears picked upt he distinctly Japanese accent. Japanese...?

She stared, her tail beginning to twith behind her. She hadn't been expecting this.

Marshall lot his footing, and his hat, but was okay. "Heh heh...Oh, its fine!" Marshall said to the...Gorilla? Hey, at least it was a costume at least. He reached down to pick up his hat, just when the lights cut off.

"...What the hell?" he said alloud

Thom wandered back into the tent only minutes before the music cut off, having woken from his nap and emptied the contents of his stomach into a bush shortly before. He was pointedly avoiding the drink table by now, instead searching for a familiar face, and had just spotted Alec and started over when the lights dimmed out. He paused in step briefly, only to start moving again when he noticed the lights beyond the tent, edging over to the shark man and nudging his shoulder. "Up for a hike?"

"Jes'... a wee bi'..." Billy mumbled, the beer bottle still clenched in one of his many limbs as the other remained firmly stuck via suckers on smooth asian skin. It was clear by the dissociated expression on his face that he wasn't quite aware of what he was doing, nor where he was for that matter. Meery that there was an a** in front of him, and it needed grabbing. This was a party, wasn't it? At least he thoguth it was untill the music suddenly went away. He glanced about in confusion, brows furrowed dumbly.

Well that was...that was...were there words in this world to describe what he was seeing? There probably were, he just didn't know them. Words like the ones he needed, were adjectives and verbs you read in horror stories, or synonyms used to describe the things living under slimy rocks.

It was hard to keep an expressionless face. What does one do in a situation like this? He, just like Sayuri, was not the least bit thrilled. It wasn't Charlie though to make a scene and so he kept his mouth shut, letting the woman do the emotions for him. In the aftermath he could think about it all, but there was only one proper action to do for now, "Are you allri--" he was about to ask the disgusted female, when yet another distraction arose. Light's down, music off, another set coming on?

...The path was the final straw. Adventures? No thank you! How to escape though. Suddenly, the man pretended as if to be caught in coughing fit. "E-ex-excuse me--" He faintly managed to mumble out, hand running to clutch at his chest. Across the dance floor he now slinked and out the door.

'Off! Off!' Sayuri continued shrieking, disgusted by the limb of Billy's that was suckered to her leg. She moved a little along the table, scrabbling with hands to find anything to grab and finally got hold of a plate. She bought it around to her front, trembling in fright and fury and hefted it.
With a hard tug, the suckers ripped from her leg, the sudden pain as they detached from her skin caused her to wince and she flung the plate wildly at Billy as she ran, not stopping to see whether it hit him, just very determined to leave.

Oz bent down to help the guy up, thinking he might have accidentally bowled him over. But he'd just lost his hat, thats all. He sighed in relief.

Then the music stopped suddenly and the lights dimmed, revealing the lit path into the dark jungle.

Inwardly, Oz was a mixture of excited, impressed, and just a little unsure. He wasn't normally one for elaborate Halloween plans, and after seeing Richard's puppeted tentacle arm-things malfunction, there was no gurantee this was going to end in happiness. But it was atmospheric. And cool. Outwardly, he just stood there like the rest of them, looking slack-jawed at the path.

Gaius looked up as the lights suddenly dimmed, but even more noticeable was the sudden silence that filled the tent. Instantly, he was on the alert.

"...What's going on?" he asked, turning away from the other two and making his way slowly towards the doorway of the tent. He could see lights outside, leading away. "Hmm..." He furrowed his brows, then looked back at the others behind him. "I think we should see what's up. Come on!" With that, he made his way out, drink still in hand.

Alec Derring

Alec snapped out of his self-made reverie when he finally realized the droning music was now gone. The crowd seemed to be filled with confused faces and the lights... what the hell?

Everyone seemed to be hesitating and probably for a good reason. Perhaps they knew something he didn't, or he was too naive to figure out himself. The teen shot up from his leaning position in the table, determined to go see what was up. The crowd seemed to be drifting towards the path of lights now and as long as the herd was moving, Alec would too. Eagerly stumbling to the front of the pack, he managed to bump into an obscured obstacle, only to see the distraught and lost Billy in his wheelchair. "Ay man, c'm on. Somethin's up!" He snatched the handledbars and turned the man around, wheeling him off a little too fast out of the tent.

Seeing the path light up not far from her, Kikue began to pad slowly in its direction, for the first time plainly not wanting to get involved with the situation that looked to be happening. She made a mental note to find the other Japanese girl again, as soon as she could. It wasn't Natsumi, so who was she?

Kikue moved silently, afraid to try to break into the confrontation in case her instincts should take over. Even though she was well-fed...she didn't know what Billy might do. He doesn't look too good...I'll try to ask how he is when it dies down a little...

Curiousity brought her to the path's edge, and she slipped down it while the other Islanders were still in the tent. The air felt better, here.

Infinite Improbability

Zach wasn't entirely sure what was going on, and despite whatever protesting his organs would have later about his alcohol consumption, he was content to be as drunk as he could. It made everything less stressful.

He almost didn't notice the lights go off, as his night vision helped to pierce the darkness. Other lights came on, confusing him. Where were they going, and why? Everyone else was following them. Interesting. He shuffled back to his table to retrieve his pitchfork, and followed the crowd. Maybe there would be fireworks. Fireworks were nice. He felt ready to throw up again...

It was a few days since his second change, and F was slowly getting used to the strangities that day had brought.

Now the flea-man made his way up to the halloween-themed tent and pushed through the material, hardened toes clicking softly on the tarp floor as he walked in. He had taken to walking with raised heels, finding it more comfortable and efficient. It also gave a slight bounce to his step.

F had ordered a nice tuxedo and a plastic gun from the labs as his costume, and decided he'd be James Bond. He'd had to pull the suit jacket down over the spines on his shoulders, ripping it in places, but it still made him look smarter than he'd looked in a very long time.

Back home, there weren't exactly many opportunities for a man like him to parade around in a tux.

F squinted around as he entered, searching with his recently worsened eyesight for someone he recognised.

And suddenly the music lights went out. "Whu'd I do?" he asked the nearest shadow.

Ginerva was immediately intrigued by the sudden change of atmosphere. She giggled with delight in the awkward silence, know this must be Doctor Duvert's doing.

She could think of no better way to end the night than wandering off with the subjects on their curious little journey. Things were bound to get interesting, and if she had her way, she could only make them worse...

Sedated in his chair, the octopus wasn't in a position to dodge, but gave a cry of alarm, confusion and pain as the one bright and wonderful thing that had happened to him in weeks and months was ripped away from him and was replaced by a sharp, shattering dish in his face.

Then the world was moving. He heard a familiar voice behind him and as the tent peeled away to the darkness outside he glanced up to peer at Alec with wide, confused eyes, "Where're... s'party... over?"

Pyroth Ignatius

PostPosted: Mon Oct 30, 2006 4:27 pm

The sudden lack of music threw Pyroth off guard, making him look about himself warily not sure for a few moments what it actually was that was missing. When he deduced it was the music, he looked slightly wary and headed over to the entrance, his gaze immediately looking up towards the lab, his imagination expecting something bad to come their way from there. But no, all was still for now, simply a row of lights leading north into the jungle.

Curiosity killed the cat and though Pyroth was no cat, he was irresistibly drawn towards the lit path, wondering what the hell could be in store for them. Feeling horribly like a little fish swimming into the enticing lights of an angler, he padded out of the safety of the tent and towards the jungle. It should have felt like going home in a way, the jungle normally a comforting and familiar place to him, but the red lights made everything strange and unfamiliar, casting shadows where there should be none, making navigation difficult and forcing him to resort to following that foreboding row of lights.

As he walked he looked behind him at the others wondering how they were faring in this poor light and for some of them a most likely unfamiliar environment, were they going to follow the path too?
