I'd start with a Falcon. Shooty, but can transport assualt units to the front.

Eh, maybe it's not my place to say anything here, however wouldn't you need units to transport first? (also, he is going to be facing me most oftenly, and since I play DaemonHunters he wants some shooty units above assaulting ones. The assualt specialists are just to give him a chance once I get up there.) Although the Falcon does sound like a greater idea a little later down the line, but maybe not as a first thing.

By the way, do the Eldar have any Battlesets out?

yes, they do. One with, I believe, a Vyper, a Falcon, 3/5 Jetbikes, and 16/20 Guardians. $120, I believe.

Yes, and would you as an Eldar player say it is worth the deal? (Like I said, I've got no idea what to tell this kid. I just know some Eldar basics and that I hate them.)
Also, is it something he should start with or hold back on?

I've gotten that kit myself, so I'd definitely say it's worth it. In addition, I'd also reccomend a Wraithlord and a Farseer, but apart from that, it's a great starting force.

Alright, I'll tell him that.
I'm not sure how much money he's got on him however, if he is short cash and can't get that battle force, would you say go for some Guardians? Maybe attempt for Compulsorary?

I believe there is a relatively cheap kit with a Falcon and 6 Guardians, but that's around 40-50$, he'd save a hell of alot by getting the big pack. If he doesn't have enoguh for the battle-force, I'd just reccomend waiting until he can.

Yes, I'm just afraid he can't handle that.
Well, if he's down a little I've got like...$100.00 bucks I could loan him if thats neccassary.
So any other big suggestions, or would that be it?

Well, I'd reccomend a Farseer over an Avatar as a starting HQ unit, but that's about it. (Mind War utterly pwn's SM leaders.)

Although Space Marine Leader 'pwnage' is problably the last thing I need, I'll let him know.
Also, when he is playing me I've got some pretty nasty things for that Avatar. According to my codex, they count as Daemons, and all my rules, wargear, etc. are in effect. So, thats problably going ot make him a bit less worth it.

Do not even think about getting an avatar unless you plan on using him to show off your paint skills and use him a bullet catcher, albiet an expensive one.

Little postie note: I'll be reitring my Eldar for Witchhunters. Rather interesting change over as my friends have told me.

Guardian defenders as dire avengers, Yay or Nay?

I am wondering if I am able to use defenders as avengers. The armament is the same except for the exarch. Which means I will have to do a bit more converting on one or two models. The reason I ask is I have had my eldar in a box for about a year and am now finally revamping them through what I have. More so then picking up anything new. (waitin for the new stuff) I used to run large run and gun guardian squads now I am after a more elite feel using banshees and scorpions for the more forward stuff, avengers for the mid range support, and guardians in smll squads and platforms for range. (I have a lot of guardian defender models) Any and all replies are appreciated thanks for the read through.

Ok here is my new eldar 1000 list. Ideas comments?

HQ
Farseer 71
Pistol
Witch Blade
Mind war

WarlocksX2 94
Pistol
Witch Blade
Conceal

Considering dropping the blades to spend the points on guide instead of mind war. This seams to be the very best idea.

Elites
ScorpionsX6 123
Exarch
Scorpions claw

There mounted in the falcon. Basically a forward unit to hold the line or take advantage of those who stray.

Troops
Dire avengersX10 144
Exarch
Power weapon & pistol
Wave serpent 155
TL-Star cannons
Shurican cannon
Spirit Stone
This is one of my forward hold the line units. Mainly to support my scorpions and cut off units that drift away from the enemies front.

DefendersX7 96
Scatter laser
(A warlock goes here)

DefendersX7 106
BrightLance
(A warlock goes here)

These are my stable gun platforms. The warlocks keep them alive with conceal. If I can fit guide in. Then I will put my Farseer close to the BL squad. I only used the bright lance as I was lacking anti-tank. Plus I had to scratch build it. A joy I say a Joy. I have little to no extra eldar bits outside of guns. But I pulled it off...

Heavy
Falcon 210
Star cannon
Shuricannon
Holofields
spirit stones

Total 999
Body count 37 (Platforms add 4)
Vehicle count 2

I just saw an interesting army the other day.
The army was composed mainly of farseers and seer councils, the rest of his army was 2 transports and rangers if I remember correctly. Every turn they were casting every psychic ability in the book against another Eldar player, who had an all ranger/dark reaper army. The sheer amount of mind wars the army was doing was insane.

Quick rumor for you.
The Harlequin won't get their own list sad but will be an elites choice instead.
