HelterSkelterX Um...yeah, I got randomly bored on day and ended up making this topic. I don't know how many people in this guild are drummers, but then again, I'm also relatively new. I've discovered that playing snare in marching band (which is what I happily do) is a lot harder than it seems, for me anyway. I started drumming with I was 4, which by all rights should've make it easier right? Nope? I started in colonial fife and drum, and then I played the trumpet all the way through middle school. I've been in the fife and drum scene for a long time, so I'm used to reading Swiss music. Yeah...so marching band music is in no way, shape, or form the same. Why can't there be more rudimental drummers out there?! i is a marching snare drummer im 2nd chair in my band and im moving up to quint toms next year so WOOT-WOOT

lables_can_die Hi Guys. I'm sorry but i just want to say that it is not a "pit" thats where trash goes. it is a Front Enesemble. Does that not sound better? i think so biggrin I call our Front Ensemble the Pit and our band has been fourth in the nation. TAKE THAT! xD I play timpani. And I'm gonna have to say it's one of my most favorite instruments...and that I'm pretty bad a** at playing it. That is all~!

Front Ensemble does sound better. But, Pit fits on a button ((which I have one)). And, that's what we call it.

Tell Me; have you ever known anyone that has been attacked by an instrument??? I have, never say that percussion is safe, because it's very painful and the instruments are evil!!!
I am the pit percussion leader at my school and it consists of me and a few other s. Most bands our size (class B) don't compete so we have to compete against class A and AA bands and we do pretty well. I was actually recognized because the s were sick and I had to play all of the main instruments, but that morning we had been practicing out in strong winds. The suspended cymbal fell over and hit my ankle causing it to swell instantly, the day of regionals and as they're recording our performance they have a section of me hobbling on one foot from one instrument to another.
I thought not only would you get a laugh out of this story but it also tells y'all a little about my percussion life.
Peace Keep on sticking it, Jessey Cobbler

We're playing Magnum Opus by a Band called Kansas.
What're your guys (and girls) favorite percussion instruments?

Alright, I just wanted to pop in and say that you're right. I'm 16 now, and i've been a percusionist for 3 years and in marching band for 2. I was going to try for snare my first year, but then changed my mind for two things: 1) I like being in the pit playing key instruments and drum set. 2) I was diagnosed with (hope i spell it right) rhumitoid arthritus.
So now i'm happily in the pit, and I play snare now for memorial day parade, so i get best of both worlds. xp
