Still hooked up to the machines, Faith arched a brow in wonderment while watching Xol become angry at whatever the printing had said. She shifted her gaze from him to the vial of blood he held in his hand, her blood was in there, but why was he keeping it?

"Mrr.." Figuring he needed a moment to cool down, Faith bit down upon her bottom lip while trying to hold in all the questions that popped into her mind at his little outburst.

"No more of what? Who is he talking about.. why is he so upset.. Can't be what...? Faith frowned before taking in a deep breath.

"Xol.. what were the results..?"

He did in fact need a few moments to cool down and took quite a long period of time before anwsering. "It says you're what I feared it would say you are. My subspecies is a form of demon that has long been extinct. They held so much power and such awsome and unique abilities that some say God himself struck them down..."

Xol took a deep breath and turned to face her, removing the sensors as he spoke. "The results say that you're a half breed of that species that went extinct. Half human...half Demonic Mist being. They died out millenias ago though, so how..." The last part was more of a trailing off as he thought aloud to himself.

It was said to be a rare thing to shut Faith up, but it had happened. She remained on the table, even as he unhooked the sensors from her, silently staring at him. She was speechless, not even half a word entered her mind. It wasn't until she felt her lungs beginning to burn did she realize she had been holding her breath as well.

"Nani...?" Finally, she was able to utter a word.

Shaking her head, she sat up and let her legs slide to the edge of the table. Swinging them back and forth, she slid her bottom lip into her mouth to gnaw upon it in deep thought.

"Color me stupid, but I don't understand. How can I be a demon, or rather... half breed? This is just insane..."

"Well, you yourself said that you were orphaned as a baby. It's quite possible that either your mother or father were one of the last surviving members of the species. Something or someone found out and destroyed what they believed to be the last of the bloodline..." He took a seat next to her and looked down at the ground with a furrowed brow.

"Although...it doesn't completely explain why you were drawn here though."

"THE TESTS ARE WRONG THEN!!!" Faith slid completely off the table, stumbling forward a little bit.

Frowning, she stared away from him, her fists clenching up against her sides. He had to be wrong... there was no way, it just didn't make sense. However, deep down inside of her, she knew that something was different about her enity. She could tell when she grew older, though she often tried her best to block out her past.

"...Are these kind of demons.... drawn to each other? If you're a full species or whatever... maybe the half-breed inside of me was drawn to you for protection or something.." Faith's voice was barely above a whisper and despite how hard she was trying to keep them from coming, tears were beginning to stream down her cheeks.

Sometimes, she seriously hated being an emotional person. Either she was mellow, extremely pissed off and violent, or a completely mess. Relaxing her fists, she slid her right hand through her blonde hair, pushing it back away from her eyes. She had so many questions running through her mind, too bad none of them would form a complete sentence to come out of her mouth.

"No Faith...the tests are not wrong, because my DNA as well as 99% of all life's DNA has been entered into that machines database. It found a direct match between my Demonic Mist and your own." He sighed and rose to his feet, walking over to her and sliding a hand around her shoulder to comfort her. She was in mild shock and seemed to be emotionally unstable at the moment.

"And I have no idea if our kind is drawn to each other because you are the first of my kind that I've ever met. However...you're welcome to stay in my Keep if you wish. I know this is hard on you and any way I can help you grow to terms, I will. You're a half-breed, but I know with the right training you could easily master the skills and abilities I have mastered over time. The choice is yours though...I will not force you. Take all the time you need, and like I said...my Keep is open to you. Now. How abou that vodka?" He smiled, giving her shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

"But... why haven't I.... mrr..." Faith frowned, biting down harder upon her bottom lip.

She could vaugely feel Xol's hand touching her shoulder and normally would do something about it, but she couldn't even move. Her eyes dropped down towards the floor and with a heavy sigh, she forced herself to accept for the moment that the tests didn't lie.

"What kind of.. oh nevermind..." Faith licked the blood from her bottom lip, a small gash appearing where she had been biting.

Nodding that vodka would indeed be good, she decided that she would focus on a little bit of it at a time. It made her wonder though... who were her real parents and who was the b*****d that slaughtered them. Also, where they killed before she was left at the tree, or were they killed and she somehow appeared at the tree.. neither made sense, but one had to be right..

"Thanks... I just want to drink until I pass out.... and worry about this later.."

"That can be arranged..." He chuckled, knowing that many questions were zipping through he mind. Most of them wearing very heavy on her conscious.

Both of them dissapeared in a plume of black mist, appearing at the same places they had left from before. Xol behind the bar and Faith in her seat. He picked up the bottle of vodka and poured her a shot, placing the bottle down next to her.

"Maybe it's better than you know, at least now you have the beginning of the puzzle."

Frowning, Faith picked up the shot glass and tipped the liquids into her throat. Slamming it down as she swallowed it, she poured herself another shot, repeating the process two or three times.

"You're wrong.... Xol..." Faith paused, taking three more shots.

"I don't have the beginning to the puzzle, just another piece..."

Sighing, she slid the glass away from her in order to grasp the bottle in her right hand. Leaning back a bit, she lifted the bottle to her mouth and finished off the liquid inside.

"...I owe ya.. one... bottle...mmkay?"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2005 7:28 pm

"Aye, but at least it's the biggest pieve yet..." He watched with a slight look of surprise in seeing her small form absorb so much alcohol.

"Maybe you should slo~..." He began, seeing her finish off her third shot and lift the bottle up to her mouth. The contents were gone before he could saying anything more. "...eh, nevermind. Don't worry about it I have plently. Don't forget I'm an alcohlic as well."

Xol grinned broadly, wipping off the bar with a damp cloth.

"Biggest or smallest, it doesn't matter.. I have no idea why I was left at the tree and if it was before or after the deaths of my parents. Hell, the things that killed my parents could be the same that killed my adopted parents... there's so many holes..." Faith sighed, shoving the now empty bottle away from her.

"Gimme more then.... I still have feeling left in my brain.."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2005 7:50 pm

"Well that's why it's called a puzzle. So you can find all the pieces and put them together. You don't want to stay incomplete all your life do you? I can already tell it's eating you away from the inside." He shrugged, taking the bottle and tossing it in a garbage pail before reaching under the bar and placing a black bottle in front of Faith.

It had no label, but the eye watering smell of potent alcohol filled the air around them. "If that one desn't put you under the table...nothing will, enjoy."

"Let's just say I'm not a very patient person. I never was one for putting together puzzles. And yes... it's been eating away at me from the inside for a very long time. But it wasn't until tonight that I began to doubt that my adopted parents deaths were an accident.."

Faith slid her hand around the black bottle, a brow arching slightly. Leaning forward to smell of it, her eyes began to water. Smirking at his challenge, she lifted the bottle to her already parted lips.

"Challenge accepted...." Faith closed her eyes, chugging the potent liquid as quickly as she could in order to finish off the bottle.

However, the liquid combined with the vodka was too much and with a slight whine, Faith dropped her head against the counter moments before dropping the empty bottle to the ground. Sliding off the seat she was currently sitting on, Faith found herself on the ground in a semi-unconscious state.

Xol rolled his eyes and leapt up onto the bar top, sliding over and onto the other side next to Faith. "I warned you..." He laughed, sliding an arm under her neck and another under the back of her knees.

He lifted her up and started to make his out of the parlour, to a flight of stairs to which he climbed and walked down a long hallway. At the end was one of the best guest rooms. He juggled her and the door handle for a moment before finally opening it and walking over to the bed. With a soft 'fwump', Xol layed her on the matress and raised up with a slight grimace.

His wounds had still not healed fully, maybe he should be getting some rest as well.

With nothing else to do, Xol dissolved into a plume of black mist to his chambers. With a loud yawn he fell back onto his bed and stretched out, pulling the pillow towards his head and closing his eyes.

Sleep would take a little while to come, but when it finally came, it would keep him down for a long time. His mental, and physical state would only add to it all.
