Sai-kun I love live versions of songs. ASoM...eeeh...I'm still trying to like it...it sounds like a bunch of hardcore noise to me and I hate that genre. What I'm a little worried about is that Diru will play what they think appeals to their American audiences...their Withering to Death album and more of their hardcore stompy rawrrawr stuff that doesn't exhibit much more than some repetative chugga chugga on the guitar, drumming as fast and as hard as you can and Kyo just screaming unintelligably. I have a feeling they won't play their gorgeous magnum opuses that actually gives each member a chance to use and show their skill... Kisou and Vulgar are a great balance of the light and heavy stuff that they do...

Then I felt things just went down hill, they seemed to loose a lot of spark and enthusiasm and creativity. And I'm not fond of the last two singles either... I hope this doesn't keep up. I wish I had my older albums at school with me, but I'll manage. I may play some old school Diru on the show tomorrow in honor of their tour <3

Which of their songs will they be playing? Their new stuff or their old stuff back from their VK days?

Me and Rei-chan plan to pick one of our favorite pre-WtD songs and yell it out to them at the concert to see if they'll play it.
Dunno what song we're going to pick yet, but I know "Cage" is pretty high on the list. 3nodding

deaf_by_music Which of their songs will they be playing? Their new stuff or their old stuff back from their VK days? Most likely their new stuff, especially WIthering to Death, 'cause that's the album they're selling in the states. As much as it sucks, everything comes down to promoting the brand, ne. I don't know how much the management reckons that there are actually fans of Dir en grey here that aren't interested in their current incarnation as a hardcore band, but more in their more genre defying work of old. But that might just be me being pessimistic. They might realize the scope of the overseas fandom and play some old stuff. I hope. I should go check out what they played in their Canda and LA lives to see...

I don't care what they play. I have all their songs memorized and I love every single one of them. ^^; I know for a fact that if they play The Final I'll break down and sob, and if we can get them to play Cage or Yurameki or Bottom of the Death Valley or something equally old-school kickass I'll cry even more. In all honesty, they could play nothing, and just stand there on stage, and I'd be happy. XD;

XD; I care if only because Withering to Death was their worst album to date ('cept for some gems like THe Final and Kodou...maybe Dead Tree too) and their last few singles have been really lackluster... Its all hardcore crap. They might as well call themselves Senses Fail or Norma Jean or something with the track record theyve been displaying. Ryojoku to Ame was decent I guess...but nothing compared to their older stuff. ASoM I'm still not liking. I wanted to play the new Diru on my show last night but then the single sucked and I couldn't. I was sad. I just really don't want Dir en grey or any other jrock band to feel like they have to dumb down their performance to suit American palates when they're here. I want it all, the pyrotechnics, the giant screens, the cinematics, everything. I want 12 minute long heart-wrenching songs, I want the band to feel appreciated as a whole as artists and not because they're the next installment in a marketing trend.

I like that song.

Haha. By memorized I meant I can sing along with all of em. I couldn't type them out for s**t.XD
If they played Akuro no Oka...that'd be instant orgasm there cause all the boys get a chance to really show off their skills in that one. And that song is amazing. >w< -trying to get the bass line for that song down. has most of it, is just having a bit of trouble with the solo-

So has anyone heard the Jessica -wave mix-? It's on the DRAIN AWAY single.

Sai-kun wooo, blast from the past XD That would be awesome, though, but I can't say if its a set list staple for them... That's what Rei-kun was telling me, that they probably won't play requests since it's not on the set list... but hey, there's always a chance, ne? And even if they don't play it, it might get the message across to them that we love their old work too. ^^ Like you said earlier, they don't need to change to suit a different culture. We love them because of who they really are. I mean, if they weren't the way they are, we wouldn't have fallen in love with them in the first place, right?

When they come to Atlanta, I don't care- I'm gonna learn how to say "Karasu, play Karasu, I want to hear Karasu" in Japanese, and repeat that over and over... twice.
I'll get tired after a while.
I don't expect a big showing here, anyway- nobody in my school save for a couple of folks I've told know about Diru. And we're the school that's right up the street from the venue they're playing.
