WAR - J U L Y 2 n d, 2018
The July 2nd edition of Monday Night WAR opened with Brock Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman in the ring, with Paul Heyman giving a lengthy speech just days after Brock Lesnar defeated Abyss in their clash at Taboo Tuesday, where Paul repeatedly trashed the Monster in many different ways, too much for Abyss to take. Suddenly from the crowd, in the same fashion of when Brock debuted and assaulted him, Abyss hopped the barricade and took the fight to Brock Lesnar and ended up nailing a Black Hole Slam to send a message that he was not finished, as it was then confirmed that the two would face again at Summerslam when Abyss laid out the challenge that Brock couldn't deny.
Up next was a battle between two Samoan powerhouses, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe, who would go on to have a good paced back and forth matchup and when it looked like Samoa Joe was about to finish it, Austin Aries came out and provided a distraction leading to Roman Reigns taking advantage and hitting a spear for the win, showing once again how big of a thorn Austin Aries has been in Samoa Joe's side, further fueling their rivalry that has been building for now a couple months.
With this episode of WAR being the go home show for the Bragging Rights event, the champions of WAR came out to the ring to deliver some foreshadowing, including World Champion Joey Garcia, TB Champion Austin Aries, and Women's champion Stephanie McMahon accompanied by her husband Triple H. Each champion gave their thoughts on what would happen until Paige interrupted, calling oit Stephanie McMahon and issuing a challenge for the actual PPV thats coming up, Summerslam, which Stephanie would accept but gave a stipulation where if Paige loses, she is fired. Paige wasn't alone, however, as Samoa Joe came out to challenge Austin Aries, which Triple H cut him off to say he will have to get through him first next week. Samoa Joe's response was that him and Paige were not alone.... as the lights went out only for The icon STING to appear in the ring when the lights came back on, with his baseball bat in hand and he delivered 2 baseball bat shots to Triple H, and in that time Samoa Joe and Paige entered the fray, with Joe and Aries battling into the crowd, Paige taking out Stephanie on the outside leaving Sting and Joey Garcia in the ring, for Joey to make a wise choice and retreat, fighting on his time, which will be Summerslam.
The main event of the evening was Television Champion Austin Aries facing off against Abyss in a non title match, Abyss coming off laying out Brock Lesnar, leading to them facing again at Summerslam, while Aries was just out in the ring after escaping Samoa Joe basically unscathed, but those two will face at Summerslam as well. Tonight though, Austin Aries and Abyss faced off in a solid match where Aries showed how sneaky and clever was to get ahead at times in the match but he could not overcome Abyss power and dominance and in the end, Abyss made another statement by pinning the TV champion off of the Black Hole Slam, not winning the championship due to it being a non title match but gaining more momentum heading into Summerslam coming soon.
