He subconsciously went on alert the moment Rep walked out of the room, but relaxed again once Rep was back.
"Whole place is a damn mess," he complained. "Had to go close off the roads, and everybody needs more than a ten-minute patch job, like I'm a damn surgeon. I mean, sure, I guess I could probably amputate something- I mean, hell, I do it all the time. Just not sure if it's medical."

Was he just this bad at his job, or was the key doing a worse number on him than he realized? Maybe it was both. He'd been stupid to take it in. He should have left it under his bed or something. He wanted to be strong. Wanted to be powerful. Yet here he was, fighting against something that should have been hard to miss and fighting like he'd never fought in his life. Clumsy and ******** this key and ******** that monster. Otto breathed in deeply, gripping Tenya with renewed motivation. If not to impress Sasha, but to impress himself. Barry: 143/200Inopportune, that was the word for it. The word for Cami curling up beneath a table in one of the camp tents when the lights were out to catch a few rejuvenating zzzz's. Somewhere during the quick nap she'd grabbed after returning to camp a Moon trainee had come by to slip her a rune. It hadn't felt as good as Robert or Mimsy's bandaging but nothing felt as good as being healed by friends or family. It was a fact. It spoke to how used she was to sleeping through movies and other mayhem that when she awoke it was in the midst of a massive creature attacking the camp. And really it wasn't so much awoke so much as awoken. A hand was imperiously shaking her shoulder and pointing at the creature, implication clear. 'I think it's time to wake up and be useful, Camille.' Kidana's voice was threaded with humor and a little bit of worry -- she knew that the girl was pushing herself too hard. Again. It wasn't going to end well. Dragging herself out from under the table she sighed. Not even bothering to speak English she tried to talk herself into doing well. Shooting well. Mimsy was cracking. He could feel it under his fingertips, and under his skin. He could feel it in the air she exhaled, shaky and dangerous. He wanted to kiss her until she couldn't breathe that air anymore, but Alice had already made it clear how she felt about kissing. He could only hold her, tighter with every second, and try to be the strongest of them all. "We'll be okay." He murmured, with no proof of that being true. "We'll take it slow. We'll think things out. And no matter what, we'll stay with her. Okay?" He crushed her against him and moved Alice closer too, so that the three of them formed a pointy, lumpy circle, and he made his own barrier from the inevitability of the future, with his body. It did not protect them from Rep's next voice. His fists clenched when Rep called him Robbie, and Alice wailed as his fingers dug into her side. He released them immediately, showering her with apologies and promises to make up for it. All Rep had done was assure Robert that he was not to be trusted - and reminded him that nowhere was really safe. Not even there. "We're going to the rink, and we're not letting go of her. That's the end of it." He eyed Mimsy's pockets, reconsidered the use of that antidote, but said nothing just yet.
