Andarien fidgeted, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, and one hand went to the Pokeball at his waist.
"Don't like it," he said finally, looking away from Eron.
He ran his fingers lightly over the smooth red surface of the Pokeball, twitching when they came close to the release button. He knew he couldn't let Ponydash out in the shop, but he wanted to.

Eron decided that having a meltdown in the store would be bad so he changed the subject.
"You really like Ponydash and the other Pokemon," he noted.
He had read somewhere that service animals were used for anxiety, maybe they should have gotten one of his eevee evolutions to come with them? Eron wondered about that.

Andarien smiled at the change in subject, and his entire body relaxed.
"Yeah, they're more like my friends than my protectors," he said warmly, much happier to talk about his Pokemon than about being in the weapons shop. "We got them back in Gaia before we came here. Well, Eon and Ponydash, anyways. Eon hatched on my birthday, so I'm exactly one year older than him. He almost always goes everywhere with me."
He frowned. "Except he disappeared a few times with Ai, and every time that happens, Ai has another litter. Which is a good thing, I guess, but I don't like it when he goes off for days at a time. We almost had to leave him behind last time because we had to leave for Garnelia and him and Ai were gone somewhere."

Eron wasn't quite sure what to say about that. Mainly because he was kind of glad the two would disappear when they have their romps, that wasn't something he wanted to stumble across.
"Understandable, but I can see why they do. They probably wanted to have privacy," Eron replied.
Mentally he thought of a crack that his fellow teacher (a biology teacher no less) would have made about that.

Andarien blinked, and his brow furrowed in confusion once more. He thought long and hard about what Eron had said, about the Pokemon's desire for privacy, but he just didn't understand it.
"Why?" he asked blankly after being unable to come up with an answer of his own.

Eron blinked, of course he always kind of figured that Andarien didn't know the facts of life. However, he had trouble imagining himself trying to explain that in a public setting.
"Uhm.... well... in order to have a litter, the two have to be intimate in a way that requires privacy," Eron explained.
And hoped that he wouldn't have to go into details.

Andarien still didn't understand, but he still had the childlike mentality that simply accepted what he was told without questioning it further.
"Oh," he nodded, as if the explanation did indeed give him all the information he needed. "Okay. I guess that's okay then. It's nice to have the other Pokemon around, too."
He smiled. "We only had three Pokeballs to start out with, one for Ponydash, Eon and Ai, and then when they had their first litter with Zeus and Yasu, Corazin - he was my master when I was his apprentice in Caras Galadhon, he taught me about gears and stuff - he made more Pokeballs as a gift, and Miyuki learned how to rune them to make them like the regular Pokeballs."
He was clearly warming up, talking about something that was far more pleasant to him than the shop and why he didn't like it.

Eron was mildly relieved, even if he had to note the fact Andarien didn't know the facts of life. Actually, at his age, wouldn't he be considered an adult? Well, he supposed it was okay as long as no one thought of him as courtable material, and that wasn't likely the way the societies were divided.
"It is," Eron agreed, "And you can keep them with you in a pokeball."
He would have said more but Miyuki came back looking a resigned.
"We'll have to commission a staff, there aren't any metal ones," Miyuki told them, "But I should have figured that."

"Maybe I can make one, if we find the metal," Andarien offered. "I don't know, it might not be very good, though."
Shoneah was only a step behind Miyuki, and her hands were empty. "I helped my father make such things back home," she offered quietly. "With Andarien's help, I'm sure I could make one."
Andarien eyed her empty hands, and she added, "They will make me a new bow, better suited for me, but it will take a day or two."

Miyuki seriously thought about it, if they would that would be better.
"Then it would mean just finding a forge and the metal," she mused, "You know I've been meaning to ask, how does one go about installing a forge?"
She should have asked that a while ago since it was the plan to have a forge space for Andarien.

"That depends on what you're going to use the forge for," Shoneah replied. "My da's forge is portable because we move so much, but we don't use it to make large items. An armorer would need a bigger one."
"I just need one that can hold a fire hot enough to melt the metals that I need," Andarien added. "You thinking for the mobile home, Mi?"
Shoneah glanced back at the girl who was tending the shop, then looked back at the others. "Shall we continue this conversation on our way to the tailor's?" she suggested, nodding at the door.

"Yes, I don't know a thing about forges," Miyuki admitted, "Since you mainly deal with gears, I do think a portable one will do."
They just needed to find out who made such things. Motioning for the others to follow her, they headed back out. Taking a cue from Shoneah's suggestion.
"I also need to know if I need to make any modifications to the room it'll be in."

"It'll have to be in a stone room," Andarien informed her, releasing Ponydash the moment they were outside. "Otherwise there will be too much risk of fire. Can you make a room all of stone?"
For that matter, he had no idea if she was going to be making the entire room out of magic, or if she would just be creating the space and then filling it in afterwards.
Shoneah blinked when Ponydash appeared. She hadn't seen the Pokeballs being used before, and she had assumed that the Ponyta had simply been left outside.

Miyuki nodded, "I had been planning wooden floors like an actual home, but I can talk to Lancaeriel and see about a stone floor."
She was sure the concept wasn't that different from doing a wooden floor, but she liked to double check. Honestly, making a mobile home was an exercise in seeing how well her mind could bend.
It was going to be a dimensional bubble, and the most complex one to date.

"Do I get two rooms then?" Andarien asked curiously, one hand on Ponydash's neck as they walked. "One for forging and one for sleeping? I guess I can do my designing in my bedroom if I have to, will the rooms be big enough for a bed and a desk? Do the Pokemon get a room for if it's raining and they don't want to be outside? Or a room for battling?"
He was so full of questions, and Shoneah couldn't help but wonder at his boldness. She had always led a very simple life, and she didn't understand why he wanted so much.
