The 'evil eye' located a rabbit, scanned the most distant surrounding, before zooming back sharply, the field of vision returned to Nyame's position. Nyame dropped Byakugan for a moment, before moving her head aside, she forced the ancient doujutsu to surface again. The most common tactic to cover the blind spot... Younger clansmen may be foolishly arrogant, proud of their limit's field of vision...that they forget the one weakness. But the older clansmen, with plenty of combat experience, knew better...

Who knew this kid had such brute strength... Which was strange. Irihi was physically unfit, but still strong... Anyways, they had ended up upstairs, in one of the sleeping rooms. "Sensei has to sleep early!" Irihi declared. "Sleep is one of the great miraculous restoratives of the body! It can even make one younger! It can even make one super strong!" The last part was untrue but the boy happily blubbered on. Hm...Senju Anzu must've filled his head with weird ideas. Irihi began waving his hands around to further illustrate his point. "Plus, sensei should drink lots and lots of water! Water chases fevers away, as well as washing out the..."

And to think, the Hyuuga Council once considered between him and Gekkani, who to choose to raise as a living weapon... Perhaps...thank okami-sama such a sweet child wasn't forced to become something contrary to his true nature...but what about that poor girl?

Juuri gave one final tug to securing her obi before finally satisfied, she began combing through her hair. She didn't mind Megumi's fortifications of the room, though it was a bit unnecessary. True, she can't contact her spirits right now, so drained of energy... But she heals extraordinarily quickly. After a good meal, and some meditation, she would be as good as new...should be. Sea-green eyes fixed on the clone. She had a slight suspicion to what the clone was referring to, however... "What is it?" She asked quietly.

((blinded by COLORS!!!! gonk ))

Megumi just smiled and followed the orders of her student. She wasn't going to get out of it, so she might as well not fight it... Although she didn't know what her clone was doing. It seemed to have been following her train of thought and protecting Juuri... But she couldn't be sure...

Megumi's clone suddenly split into two separate clones, two alterations notice on each by the keen-eyed shinobi: The original had two green eyes... And the new clone, who was hastily pulling off all the extra layers and exposing their chest had two red eyes. "How can you people stand these things!? They're suffocating!" "You'd know all about wrapping around something to kill it, wouldn't you?" A reference to a snake, primarily, but it was an allusion to what he'd done before they'd been born. "Leave the pants on, please. No one needs see your anatomical defects." The new, shirtless Megumi (Who's torso was most certainly male, with a faint, wavy line above the pantline, where rough male skin gave way to softer, smoother feminine skin) saluted the original mockingly "Yes, sir!" He sat down, trying to assert his independence while still preserving the blessing of his brother to be out. Megumi looked back to Juuri. "We're... Not exactly what you would call... Normal... Oh! Sorry... Let me introduce ourselves. I'm Megumi, and this is Megumi!" He extended his hand to Juuri politely. He was obviously trying not to lose Megumi any points. His brother, though... "We are Megumi's brothers."

((Dramatic exit to commercials that anime writers feel the need to throw in to build anticipation and then advertise toilet paper))

"Megumi... Our sister... She's having a little trouble with some personal matters right now..."Her second brother broke in: "She's infatuated with someone, and she hates the irony of it all...." Megumi sighed "We simply must love your directness and lack of tact..." He turned back to Juuri. "But he's right... She's just made a very difficult choice... One that took her entire life to decide... Regarding the body... It was life-threatening, and crippling to live with, but she was determined to push through it until she'd found an answer. You see... Megumi hates to make hard decisions. And it's usually because something crops up that either agrees with her decision, and makes her hate herself for living through it all, or something happens that directly contradicts the choice she made, and she hates herself for making the wrong decision. In this case, it's the former." He'd directly avoided all matters of Megumi's quite interesting hysterectomy, and had kept to the facts that were worth telling before Juuri asked questions. He would answer them... For the sake of Megumi. "You see-" His head jerked to the side like he'd been punched in the face, and he picked himself up off the floor "DAMMIT!!! Can you tell yourself not to hit so hard!?" He began massaging his jaw... It had actually turned red where he'd been hit. His brain had made the punch real... Megumi smirked and continued to look at Juuri as his brother recovered from the mental punch.

She did one more round, just to be sure. Satisfied with her scouting work, Nyame motioned to Shikaenja, before pointing out the direction they should be heading. The travel was getting more difficult, the earth was rocky and gradually becoming more elevated, after all. Nyame wasn't physically used to the long, hard climb but having her precious person traveling with her blessed her with new adrenaline. She couldn't help the smile that crossed her pretty features. Nothing else mattered anymore. Forget Moku. Forget the Elders. And angry Hyuuga Council be damned.

Generally, the stoic shamaness was pretty imperturbable but she couldn't help the chuckles that overcame her as Megumi's clones began introducing themselves. Heh. Complex. If all of them were named Megumi, now, that'll be hard for her when referring to each one... But then, an eyebrow raised. She would've sworn she felt something... Nah. She can't use her kekkai genkai right now, having completely depleted her chakra reserves...but how odd...she would've sworn she felt...spirits...souls...in the clones? How could that be? She shook her head. Perhaps fatigue was catching up to her and she was imagining things.

The clones began explaining something to her about the original Megumi. She listened attentively. Huh? Did she say something insulting to Megumi...? Juuri tried very hard to remember. Nothing came up. "Did I say...do anything that...brought up something unpleasant from the past...? Ah...if I did...gomen nasai!" A stiff bow, Juuri winced a slightly as the abdomenal area (where the main chakra system is, she realized unhappily) ached.

She didn't do any permanent damages, she hoped.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Irihi was happily chattering away. "I never got to tell Megumi-sensei! But I have an older brother. Nyame-sama says so, but he's a pureblood Inuzuka...unlike..." His voice trailed off, almost saddening, but he quickly cheered up again. "And otou-san is still somewhere around too! If I work hard, Nyame-sama says it isn't impossible for me to see him again someday...and aniki too!" What does he mean that he was searching for his father...? Surely, that man...did he abandon Irihi's mother? Or... "Nyame-sama said otou-san loved okaa-san very much...but the family hated him, and forbade him from ever seeing her...I don't remember him...but..."

Irihi pointed at the black headband (like Naruto's trailing one in Shipuuden) that he always wore. On the headband was embroidered the characters for 'Bikou'. It was strange, Irihi wore his actual shinobi headband around his neck... "I wonder...I heard Inuzuka main family moved to Suna..." His expression...looked a bit sad? Hopeful? A mixture of both?

"Heh. Who knows, maybe I'll get to see him!"

Megumi smiled as Irihi continued to speak, but she really was tired... "Irihi... You need to eat and get some rest yourself... And don't worry... I'm sure you'll do everything that you want to do... Fate has a funny way of giving us exactly what we need." She lay herself down, not closing her eyes. "Good night, Irihi." And she was gone. Like a shinobi who'd spent too much time in war-time... She could have slept standing up, if she'd wanted to. Her eyes stayed open, staring straight at the ceiling, the bells above her on a wall, within unconscious view.

"Of course not. No, it was nothing like that. We just felt like telling you exactly what was going on... It's one thing to trust a stranger with your life. It's a completely different thing to trust a stranger who doesn't trust you with theirs." He nodded softly. "No, I don't think you could do anything to upset Megumi." He grinned. "God, you should hear these two. I don't know what's worse: Her incessant prattling or his insufferable enabling." He licked the blood from the inside of his cheek and sighed as he sat back. "And they say I'm the crazy one...."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 18, 2009 2:50 pm

But when he will finally come to meet his father eye-to-eye...what should he say to the man...? Yet, despite himself, Irihi smiled in turn. "Yeah." He shouldn't worry too much of the future now - when the present was so endearing. Or dwell too much on the past...brooding makes one lose sense of what was truly important in the 'here and now'. Besides... Tomorrow would be the long ship ride. He tended to get a little...well...

"'night, Sensei." Smiling sweetly, the child kissed Megumi on the cheek. And pulled back, grinning. "Nyame-sama says that chases the bogeyman away!" But then he frowned slightly. "She wouldn't let me see him..."

Like that, with that said, and like the elvish child he was...with a smile totally unbefitting-on-Hyuuga-features and long-brown swinging freely (his low ponytail had come undone), Irihi vanished (half skipping) out the doors. It was a wonder if his feet even touched the earth, so feather-light were his steps.

Poor Juuri. It would've probably not been too off-the-mark to say that she was confused - and not very short of downright uncertainty. Sure, she heard that Konoha's infamous Kage Bunshins were sentient, she was also fairly certain that they were also copies of the original user. But...the clones acted nothing like each other, and even more differently from the original Megumi... "A-ah...I...see...?" Was all she could manage out before the door flew open.

"Juuri-san! Are you done yet? Obaa-chan wants to show where the working baths are... Something about not all of them all working, one is sprouting red water... Pipes got a lil damaged from rust."

The weather has been extraordinary lately... Usually, Spring was lovely but it would bring much heavy rains...especially to a rain forest village such as Konoha. But...lately, it had been sunny - not only just that, oh no, it wasn't anything akin to unwelcome, sweltering heat but gentle golden illumination with an almost brilliant cheer... She smiled to herself, striding along the path, not minding as stray fragments of stone got into her sandals and cut at the pale skin of her feet: Nyame welcomed the freedom, this rare chance...welcomed the open sky, this beautiful land... The Hyuuga estate had its own beauty, certainly, but despite it all, it was incomparable to this...the sheer exhilaration...

Irihi slept peacefully through the night, Lilah curled on his chest. The next morning, however, the young wolf pup had a bit of trouble waking her Master... Whining, she first tried jumping on her Master's stomach, but only succeeded in eliciting a groan...and then...her Master's stomach growled. The wolf pup sighed. Prodding up and reaching her Master's face, she tried hitting his cheeks with her tiny paws. Still no response. Finally, annoyed...claws appeared on those paws now...

CHIKK!!

"GWWWWWWAHHHHHH!" A pained cry woke the whole house.

"Thank you, Lailah." Juuri commented later, during breakfast. If it wasn't for the wolf pup and Irihi's ensuing yell, they would not have time to eat breakfast and rest for a bit before the ship comes. It was never a wise idea to have eaten immediately before boarding a ship...Juuri might not mind ship rides but... She cast a worried glance in Irihi's direction. The boy was sullenly stabbing at his toast, glaring at Lailah...a rather considerably large bandage was attached to his injured cheek.

"I'll heal that for you, Irihi-kun..." She offered. The boy shook his head, refusing, muttering something about 'hoping it'll scar so he'll be reminded of Lailah's assault on his person'... Juuri laughed nervously. She wasn't sure whether to feel sorry for the pup or...well, anyhow. It looks like this time it wasn't Lailah showing her rump to Irihi and ignoring him, but the other way around...

Megumi's shirtless brother looked about to say something when Irihi burst in the door, but Megumi's physical clone punched him in the face this time. "Watch your tongue." The clone hit the floor and rolled back up, almost comically, rubbing his jaw. "I hadn't said anything... How do you know I even would have!?" Megumi laughed sarcastically. "You're in this head, too, brother... And you have no inhibitions." I don't understand why we can't just kill him." "What good it would do you. I'm already in your head. You're already thinking like me."

And Megumi was bolt-upright, the blue-hilted katana in her hand. She'd kept them underneath her bed... She really was too paranoid... But then she saw the scratch on Irihi's cheek and Lailah not far away... She sighed, flipping the sheathe to her sword into the air with her toes, sending it spinning above her before she slid the katana into its sheathe and ran her hand over her face. "Well, hey, everyone. I'm up." She grinned playfully and disappeared into a room, pulling out her mirror to make sure she didn't look too horrible. Absolutely not even a hair out of place. She slept like a geisha... She'd never moved... Even her make-up was fine. Nail polish: impeccable. Jewelry? All just right... She took a deep breath and stepped back out, smiling.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Breakfast... She ate. She had no idea that her brothers had spoken with Juuri. They were keeping it a surprise... She'd taken down her paranoid trappings and was ready to go at a moments notice, having finished her food quickly, but cleanly... She grinned at Irihi and Lailah... Bickering like a brother and sister...
"Good morning, Megumi-san." Greeted Shinjukai with a smile. Their hostess brought up breakfast and for the most part it was in silence, except for the occasional inquiry from the Fujiko shamaness to the innkeeper on exactly how violent the weather on the gulf seas could get (after all, Juuri mostly traveled by land and her only water trips were to and fro from the Wave Country to Kirigakure no Sato).
It pleased her to know that generally it should be considerably calm - also, because they were traveling by sea, they could avoid getting caught in one of Suna's more vicious sandstorms...which would probably be in abundance because the summer months were quickly approaching. They have no need to worry about water supply, fortunately - Juuri's limit made sure they'll have fresh water.
All in the meantime, Irihi ate his breakfast in sullen silence, the young Hyuuga ignoring his pet wolf. There was a gentle nudge on his leg - Lailah most likely - but he pretended not to notice. A low whine begged for his attention. He continued ignoring it. And then the incessant whimpers came...his eyebrow twitched. "Would you..." He began.
And stopped short at the sight of big, sparkly tearful eyes gazing into his own. The Inuzuka in him begged to yell out 'KAWWAIII!' and Irihi forcefully reminded himself that he was supposed to be angry at the wolf cub. And then...and then...she sniffed almost mournfully...
His heart melted.
"Oh Lailah!" He scooped her up in his arms. "I know you didn't mean it girl, it's ok!"
Ah. It looks like his Inuzuka side wins today...as usual.
"Good morning, Juuri-san..." She said my name... Oh, good God..... Megumi was antsy. She needed to move. being locked up with Juuri too long was torture for her... And she could only trust herself for so long... Eventually, she'd ruin everything. It generally happened that way... But for now, she amused herself with watching the dramedy unfolding between Irihi and Lailah.
Poor Megumi. Juuri was - as of course - clueless as usual as to why the Jounin seemed so happy: because a) she said 'good morning' b) she smiled and c) she had said 'Megumi-san' with that 'good morning'. She couldn't help but chuckle at the halfblood Inuzuka's antics. "I see you two have patched up...rather quickly, too, but that's good then isn't it?" The shamaness gestured to the bacon. "Now now, Irihi-kun. Though I said one shouldn't eat so much lest they wish to be sick on the ship, eating not at all would leave a bigger trouble: the unmutable groans of an empty stomach."
And Irihi had to admit to the wisdom behind those words. "All right, all right..." He said, laughing. "We're eating." The young Chuunin rubbed the young wolf between her ears. "You're going to grow up big and strong - but not fat - right, my girl?" A happy whine answered him and with a soft 'heh' - his heavily lidded eyelids lowering in that instant - Irihi then returned to warring with his bacon.
Megumi smiled and looked down, keeping herself busy with checking the hundreds of pockets by touch, occasionally pulling out a senbon or length of wire, inspecting it before replacing it (Or, in the case of the wires, they would automatically retract into the jacket once Megumi let go of the small ring at the end.) Apparently, Megumi's entire jacket was almost classifiable as a weapon in and of itself. But at least she seemed safe enough to be around. As long as you didn't stand too close when you woke her up, that it...
PostPosted: Mon Jul 27, 2009 6:02 am
Right after breakfast, they set out for the harbor. The villagers were sorry to see the Fujiko shamaness go, but with a nervous smile (even though the expression was fleeting, it was only here that it did not escape Irihi's sharp eyes Juuri may perhaps be very nervous around people), she assured them it was all right and should something ever happen to their water again, to go and contact Konoha village. The Senju family had methods of purification too and housed one of the largest Suiton-wielding factions around. So they departed, boarding the ship to Suna.
But Irihi could hardly contain his excitement.
A cruiseliner!
Just how much money Miss Juuri had? He, of course, didn't know that she had plenty due to a...rather shady past but moreover, she preferred for him to be as comfortable possible... Proving very easily sick to little things so far. So Irihi and Lailah entertained a curious display as in top speeds they shot throughout the whole length of the ship, treading into forbidden territory (aka the kitchen, and getting kicked out by the chefs) and they even planned to try check out all the rooms...
Until a laughing Juuri pulled Irihi back by the collar as a mother cat would do for her kitten.
"They are all the same." She said. "Really. But there's a swimming pool outdoors, and if you want to eat, head to the dining hall." She placed a palm against the boy's forehead. "You don't feel sick, do you...?" At the intense shaking of the child's head, she smiled. "That's good. See, this ship is large enough that you wouldn't feel the rocking as intensely..." Her palm left his forehead, and ruffled his hair. "Be a good boy now...don't go barging into the other passengers' rooms, all right...?" A nod from Irihi (and Lailah too), and she was satisfied.
It was going to be a long cruise.
Megumi drew the confused and frightened eyes and gasps of onlookers as she obliviously --or so it seemed-- continued walking beside Irihi and Juuri. And she continued walking at this position until they turned to head towards the ship. She just kept walking until she'd left the dock. She began to silently fall. In fact, it was little more than the rustle of a cape that was heard as she disappeared from their sides. Calmly... Calculatingly she began to fall towards the water, looking like a bullet. So flawlessly streamlined was she that her clothes hardly fluttered as she plummeted towards the steel, unyielding surface of the water.
And just at the last second, she performed one of the fastest iai-jutsus she could perform. She was hardly two feet off the water as her katana ripped the surface and it parted before the strike. Her katana was sheathed before she slipped into the crack, and she disappeared beneath the surface with hardly a ripple. For several seconds before she turned her body and shot out of the water, turning a front-flip and landing on the surface softly, continuing her walk as if nothing at all had happened.
Yeah. Good idea, Sister. Wouldn't want to be having any fun, now would we?
