*Erhem*....I said that at some point, i have said it multiple times. Though my version of the said statement in question is slightly more detailed.

I actually figured it was you.

And I don't retract my statement, merely empathize my apology. I understand where you're getting at and the general "good intentions" of your words, I just don't think you understand the flawed implications they house.

At least, reworded through Vintrict who I don't doubt botched what you said a bit, to give credit.

Quote:
You are BOTH right in a way. I know I sound like a liberal but here me out.

Vintrict is right in that a Mortal Human vs an Immortal Demon is not gonna bode well and that playing to the lowest denominator is a bad plan.

However Haelstrom is correct that you can set standards FOR THAT CONTEXT OF THE TOURNAMENT where an Immortal Demon can be beaten by a mortal human. It is a long shot, the demon may be at the top of the spectrum of standards and the human at the bottom, but it can happen.

Now who wants blueberry muffins?

Again, I don't see why "playing to the lowest denominator is a bad plan."

What, I should feel bad I want my participants to be able to meaningfully roleplay and potentially win a bout regardless of design motif and approach? If someone doesn't saturate their character with a million passive and active powers and give them laser eye rail guns, I should tell them "well, you just lost?"

Like unless it's a competition where it's very blatantly gods and god-level characters fighting and that's the advertisement, I literally can't see the use or appeal to such a mantra. The only people I could possibly see deriving pleasure from "you must be this high of a power level to ride" approaches are those who consistently roleplay characters that would be considered a balancing disaster in such roleplays.

Yeah, obviously a dude with a flint knife is going to have it rough against Ryugi Kazamaru, but there can be an established system that makes it so that flint knife wielder can, exercising wit and reckless abandon, self destruct Ryugi into oblivion. And I'll facilitate that system to make that possibility exist instead of going "why don't you have a flak cannon?"

And so on.

I think we can all simply conclude that Vintrict is legitimately retarded and everything he says should be disregarded.

Why we even entertain his presence, I do not know.

Hey now, i like Vintrict. I also like weed, got any?

I wanna stock pile a huge room full so that when i get out of the military in 16 years I can smoke myself into acoma for 6 months and finally chill. mrgreen

I love logic as well and the most logical thing I ever heard, and it is my favorite quote, is as followed.

"There is a time and a place for everything."

In the GTB you best damn believe I will be as cut throat and deceptive as possible, but I will always respect the other player. I will do whatever it takes to win IC but as far as OOC goes I have no reason to be malicious. That is what Judges are for, to mitigate between the players who can not control their emotions out of the game. I have had to put people in line at DnD campaigns cause they took something in game to seriously and flipped out, it is part of human nature I suppose.

People say your mean but I just don't see it really. I can see how you may come off abrasive but everyone has their quirks.

I won't ever be malicious OOC unless I don't like someone or they don't like me. OOCly, I can be the nicest guy you know. Which is how most of these people got to know me. But if you get on my bad side, or I managed to get on a bad side of someone they know, then it becomes chaos and "I hate Vintrict." I'm fine with it. I've dealt with it over the years and came to the conclusion there's no need to offer my kindness to everyone I meet any longer. You prove yourself to me, and I'll give you my respect. Just like how you have over the years. I respect you. The fact that you can have a conversation with me like this and not instantly debunk me is also a good trait of yours.

Don't like Vin, he does nothing but bring this place down.

Even though you guys disagree with Vin. The Fact that you take the time to respond to him and give him attention is validation.

Ban him and be done with it.

I'm tired of hearing people debate with him. Its clearly pointless.

In short, you only show someone respect if they placate you and play a yes man to everything you say, and you're emotionally immature to a point you equate disagreement with dislike.

Logically speaking.

I mean, I don't expect everyone to agree on everything.

But Vintricts stupidity goes beyond the bounds of reason.

Having him here lowers the quality of the RP and the OOC community.

I was only giving examples of ways to stay on my good side. Not the only ones. I can clearly discern dislike from disagreement. Most of the time, I just use that against people for the sake of fun because it's so easy.

No harm, no foul.

Yeah the blatant statement is simple but as I said somewhere above, time and place for everything. It all truly depends about the context of the thread/tournament/forum/role-play.

By all means make a tournament however you want, be it cut throat or casual. As long as the restrictions and concepts of the tournament are posted and made clear to those who enter, I have nothing against it.

......I forgot my point.....I want blueberry muffins now. Think I pretty much said it.

Sieg, you don't even know what rp means, so you can't really say anything about anyone's level of rping.

*Nibbles on muffin.*

Are you saying I am his yes man biatch!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ahh I am just ******** with ya.

Nah see i don't see why you guys don't like him. Yeah he comes off a lil abrasive and stern sometimes. Maybe a lil black and white but for the most part I can agree with some of what he says. Not all, but most.

I feel he is a lil too far to the left or right on his opinions but that is just him so whateves.

Well that is because you are a Casual Player. Vin is a cut-throat player.

I am sure you can play cut-throat but for the most part you play casual. Not Vin, he is cut-throat all the way and that can come off as abrasive and even borderline arrogant.

That or I am just oblivious to the world around me.....most likely the latter. 0_o

Him having his opinions are fine. As long as he goes somewhere else with them.

I just find it somewhat troubling that someone could agree with such things.

As they are literally opposite to everything I, and this community have tried to instill.

Vin Ruins RP's, period.

Too bad you can't do anything about it, Sieg. I'm more relevant when it comes to rping than you ever will be.
