Town Square:
"Not so fast," said the necromancer with the scythe, weaving another spell. A field of black appeared under the fleeing hostages. Inky black tentacles sprang up from the ground, grabbing those not nimble or fast enough to escape the field before they could be grabbed. Those grappled would be constricted by the black coils and slowly crushed or strangled.
Undead went flying through the air from the explosion, and others fanned out away from it, moving around the fountain to surround Ryugi, with the golems staying at their backs to the right and left. Skeletons were broken apart, but the zombies were more durable, with flesh to burn and tissue to hold them together. They would get back up and lumber back into the fray as the second necromancer healed their damage with an area of effect spell that normally dealt minor wounds to living creatures. The drow fanned out along the sides, keeping their distance. They would let the zombies take the brunt of the damage and tire Ryugi out, then move in to finish him off.

[18] The tentacles sprang up around the fleeing hostages and four were trapped. As they began to be crushed, Ryugi grabbed the handle of Sol Blade, as he let another Negation Attack fly, the anti-magical pulse dispelling the tentacles as the remaining hostages gained more ground. Ryugi continued to take up the rear, acting as a barrier between the undead forces and the escaping hostages. One fourth there... Another three fourths to go till escape as the hostages headed in between the buildings, the North gate in sight at the end of the street like the light at the end of a dark tunnel.

The drow, moving swift and nimble, sprang to the rooftop and dashed quickly ahead, while the undead hordes closed in around him. The hostages didn't matter anymore. The zombies leaped through the air to pounce upon him, one after the other, attempting to overwhelm him with their numbers and weight. One of the shadesteels let out another pulse, healing more of the damage sustained by the zombies caught in the blast.
"Surrender, and we'll give you a quick death," said the necromancer with the scythe.
"You cannot defeat us all," said the other, pointing a wand at him that crackled with electricity.

"Surrender, and we'll give you a quick death," said the necromancer with the scythe.
"You cannot defeat us all," said the other, pointing a wand at him that crackled with electricity. [20] We'll see about that.. FIERCE DRAGON TWISTER!! Quote: *Fierce Dragon Twister- Ryugi spins his energy around at rapid speed calling up a massive fire energy tornado that he can send at opponents for burning fire and explosive cutting wind damage. – 6 turn base charge, can be charged more – [14] The pouncing zombies would be sucked into the powerful vortex and shunted down the corridor back to the fountain, as well as any other undead that happened to be following behind the group. That is, if they would be able to survive the intense heat burning them to crunchy bits, and the winds from the firestorm eroding them away to useless bunches of dust. While Ryugi didn't intend for the attack to fully defeat any of the attackers, he'd used it more as a way to buy the hostages more than enough time to gain more ground as he continued to run behind them, moving up more towards the middle as he noticed the drow running along the rooftops, undoubtedly getting into position to rain down their own attacks... Unlike his previous big flame attack, THIS attack was far more direct in its destruction, aiming to defeat or irritate the enemies trying to bog him down, and or buy the hostages more time, all while doing minimal damage to his surroundings while still dealing a powerful blow to the rampaging, following, enemy forces, which would have bottlenecked into the street corridor. And what was even better, was that the range of this attack would completely block the corridor that it traveled down, causing any forces to have to wait until it cleared, plow through it and disk being killed, or leap up to the rooftops, in which case that would cause them to lag even farther behind. The attack would move all the way back until it ran out of steam at the square. The whole time this battle had been going on, Ryugi had steadily been increasing his supply of shimmering crystals that now zipped around his form... About one fourth or so to go until the hostages were safely out of the city. That attack would have allowed them and Ryugi to gain valuable distance.

Up ahead, the people began to scream. The drow had cut them off, literally; weaving through the crowd with their blades waving, slicing limbs and injuring folks, cutting through them to get to Ryugi's back, where their blades would likely find a place to stab themselves. The undead sucked into the fiery twister and thrown out burned for a moment, but the burns on their rotted flesh would fade away as yet another pulse of negative energy spread through the area from the second shadesteel golem, healing most of the damage. The cyclone quickly turned into steamy mist as a 30-foot cone of frost blasted through it and onwards to freeze Ryugi as well.
"Don't let him escape!"
The shadesteel golems glided in from the sides, claws flexing, ready to maim.

BATTLE-AIRSHIP VENGEANCE 20,000 feet over Barton Town
"Captain, energy levels are spiking!" said a skeletal officer looking over runic meterings which were flashing with brightly colored waves.
"What's it from?" Captain Krik asked.
"Unknown, but they are spiking in two areas of the battefield."
"So, some Major Powers have started getting involved," Captain Krik said. "Transmit a report to command immediately."

The shadesteel golems glided in from the sides, claws flexing, ready to maim. [16] The heat from Ryugi's aura would negate the freezing cone as Ryugi dashed back into hostages as he heard footsteps and whipped around. SPLIT!!! As the drow attacked, the hostages split to the sides, exposing a passage for an attack to get through. Quote: *Raging Dragon Blitz- Fires several softball-sized fireballs at the target enveloping them in flames, minimal to medium damage -no charge, can be used in one turn- *Light Clone- Creates a solid mass of photons that look like Ryugi, they are endowed with some of his flame ability, but attacks from clones are weaker than the original, varying damage -1 turn charge for each clone created- *White Flare- Creates a bright burst of light that can temporarily blind enemies, no damage, just status -1 turn charge- [14] The fireballs would streak into the ranks of the drow, lighting them ablaze, just as the bright flash of light would erupt, blinding them. And as the flash let loose, a light clone of Ryugi would charge forward aiming to gut a couple of the disoriented, immolated, drow. The attack would save (see above) hostages, and though SOME had been saved, Ryugi felt guilty for not being able to get the rest of them to safety as they ran out of the city, successfully escaping...

Darkness.
It did well to swallow up the bright flashes of light from Ryugi's attacks. The drow nimbly lept away from the fireballs, though two would get caught in the blasts, rolling around on the ground. The two who had been caught by the attack quickly recovered in time to parry the attack by the clone (if it could even see) upwards, while the other spun around him and stabbed him in the back. The other drow blended into the shadows. There would be no crossbows this time. They would use their stealth and speed to quickly surround Ryugi, who would be unable to see in the dark unless he's got an ability to fix that too.
Unfortunately, Ryugi made a grave mistake: he turned his back to the two golems charging toward him to tear him apart. His aura wouldn't affect them as they closed in from behind, claws coming down to smash and tear his body apart. In conjunction with the drow attacking him from the front and sides, and the darkness smothering all light and natural vision, Ryugi would find himself in a very difficult position.
And through it all, only two hostages would survive by his efforts.

[16] The drow that stabbed the clone would be greeted by an explosion. An explosion that would explode with nearly half that of a hand grenade, the searing heat from the light energy burning them terribly. Ryugi could feel the golem's approach, and merely because he'd turned his back, did NOT mean he was unaware of them. It would be then, that they would sense a massive influx of power as Ryugi's aura suddenly flared, and he leapt into the air, plowing through the darkness and onto one of the rooftops, Ragnarok in hand, as the green gem in its center began to glow and swirl with white. The sheer force from Ryugi's aura would be enough to prevent nearly anyone from touching him, as the heat pulsed even hotter. Hundreds of crystals swarmed around his form, acting as a barrier to anyone, or anything that attempted to touch him as the flames started to swirl with more power and force as Ryugi's already boosted stats grew another 100% stronger. Quote: (Hidden Special) *Death of the Gods- Ragnarok awakens to unleash its true power, granting its wielder a massive 100% boost in all stats, as well as the ability to purify and dispel any evil threat. This ability strengthens the wielder and, gives them a fighting chance to defend that which they deem most dear. -Lasts until Ryugi is defeated, or battle ceases- Your little raid ends RIGHT now.. You've killed enough innocent people...The aura emanating from the blade would not only negate the effects of any further pulse waves from the golems, but would actually damage the undead in the area in much the same way the dark energy had once healed them. They would literally begin to fall apart where they stood, and with the aura's presence, any attempts to raise them once more would also be thwarted. The light energy would also work to negate any further attempts to darken Ryugi's vision. Ryugi's red eyes burned as he jumped back down on the opposite side of the corridor, ready to face his attackers, or what was left of their forces once the undead fell apart. Now he didn't have anything to stand in his way. No people or innocent civilians, just empty buildings, and an assload of pathetic abominations.

And lo did twelve Spartans fall, riddled with bullets. Three hundred (and one: the Knight) became two hundred and eighty-eight, but the unit remained in tact. Rear guard zombies reinforced the ranks, and the army continued to march, reclaiming thrown spears as they were passed. The puppet corpse itself was moved around, left with the fallen soldiers for Descant's troupe to reclaim.
" Not at all."
And so a force almost eight hundred strong entered Barton by the West Gate.

"Fall back, call for reinforcements!" ordered the necromancer with the scythe.
They fell back with the four remaining drow, while the shadesteel golems, hastened now from the effects of the light energy coming from Ryugi, or his sword, whichever, pursued him swiftly, blending into the shadows and becoming invisible. One would suddenly appear before him, smashing through his barrier of crystals - the flames didn't harm them, and their shadesteel alloy would protect them from any damage the crystals themselves would inflict, if they were magical and used as weapons - slashing at him with its claws. The other golem appeared behind Ryugi, doing likewise, attacking him with ferocity.
The destroyed undead didn't need to be reraised; the necromancers had more corpses at their disposal, even more numerous than the zombies they came here with. While the necromancer with the scythe worked on animating the corpses of all the slain hostages, the second necromancer stood at his back, facing the direction Ryugi was, holding out his hands and chanting Words of Power. The drow lingered around the necromancers; someone needed to protect them while they busily cast their spells.

Maximos could dead lift 1300 lbs. Thats lifting it straight off the ground and over his head without any additional momentum to assist it. A normal human or two can push a car, even if they cant lift it. Maximos was jerking the construct to the right, around and then up, to give it the momentum he needed to spin and chuck it. Though if a lightning bolt was coming, his plan would have to be somewhat altered, he brought his club across placing it across his chest and laying it on his right arm. Effectively using the metal club as a lightning rod to channel the lightning into his right arm where it would immediately fall victim to the Curo Ingurgito, its energy adding to Maximos' strength and giving it immediate function. (See Below Explanation) In truth, things were looking grim it seemed he would have to put more into his battle than he previously...and then came his salvation. The negative energy wave. Quote: - Lunoc Replication Seal - Luna Effingo Signum Covering Maximos' right and left arm are two matching seals. Their function is to absorb and dissect any form of common arcana or energy they are afflicted with. The wielder of the spell is then granted temporary access to that ability, at the cost of their own arm, without proper training in it. Each usage costs Maximos shards of his own arm, and finally, the arm itself. Once the arm is gone, the spells effect wears off. Each spell, being of shadow not the original element does a negative version of the original spell, meaning a shadow replicated fireball could even harm a flame elemental. The seal is limited, only able to duplicate common or low end abilities, never anything rare or extreme as they are usually too complex to dissect and require things that cannot be duplicated. His left arm was already place in a defensive position in between himself and the negative energy wave. As it struck his arm, the wave would find itself halted in place, a small violet run lifting from his hand catching the wave directly in place. It was a rock in the stream so to speak. By using this ability twice in a series of a few minutes the golem had proven this to be a "common", ability. It did not require an obnoxious preparing time, and its effect was relatively easy to release. The AoE effect could expand outwards, and around Maximos, or if it was stuck in a spherical shape it would be halted right then and there. And then devoured whole. The wave would weaken and falter before fading entirely. The Shadow's arm had an immediate effect. A deep black glow filled the runs covering his left arm, it seemed a vicious black miasma. And as was the nature of the LRS, it immediately countered. The Seal is usually used to counter elemental attacks, countering the element with its opposite. This was a special case, this was raw negative energy, draining strength and life and empowering the undead. Maximos had copied the ability, made it his own and reversed it. What was released was the exact opposite, positive energy. And just like the negative energy wave it covered a 40 foot spread with positive energy. The sort that steals the life from undead and fills the living, such as Maximos with life. With strength. With vitality. And basically with everything he needed to make a 40ft span of undead fall, while spinning and chucking a golem with relative ease. As for its levitation effects... Quote: Curo Ingurgito | Mana Gorge - Usable only with an exposed arm, or once the Twilight Gauntlet has been awakened. Being of a beastly nature the Manus hungers for energy. While its preferred prey is life force in its purest form it has been know to feast on other forms of energy. Any enchanted item, placed in the Manus' unholy grip will find itself temporary drained and useless. Any being in its grasp will find its energies slowly drained. This is not an instantaneous drain and acts in the same manner and time table as the Soul Taker. In the same manner, if the arm is directly exposed into an intense magical or energy based attack the arm man devour the oncoming attack entirely, adding the attacks energy to the Manus' own. The arm is unable to absorb a second attack until the energy of the first has been given function. This ability may not be used while practicing the Living Fist. ...What levitation effects? A construct was it was immune to life draining effects. But as a living chunk of metal it was, for the sake of the Manus, considered an enchanted object. By grabbing it, its enchantment was fizzled until such time as it was allowed to recharge. That is of course if the construct had the ability to recharge. It was an effect similar to the spell Mordenkaidens Disjunction, or disenchant, only without causing the item to dissolve into nothingness. If the constructs "life" was not immediately drained then at the very least the levitation spell it had activated would be made useless. The arcana used to enchant it, was instead used to empower the arm, that would add, strength, distance, and force to the chuck Maximos was attempting to perform. As for its deadly claws...that was a rather useless endeavor. Attacking shadow with shadow? Maximos had just attempted that very thing. Granted sparks flew as metal slashed against metal, but no real damage down done by either party. Though one doesnt need to cause damage in order to chuck a 3/4 ton construct directly at a evil mage and across a couple dozen feet. He had all he needed for that feat. If there were any undead left standing in a 40ft radius they would be immediately teased...the effect of using the LRS, as damage to the given limb. Slits in Maximos' skin had begun to form spreading a few red drops of vitae onto the ground below.

The golem's levitation effect wasn't an acitvated spell. That's how it moved naturally. Regardless, it couldn't be drained anyway. One of the aspects of a constructs traits, along with magic immunity, was the inability to drain it of the magic that constructed it. Disjunction-like spells and effects don't work on constructs. It would still be levitating, and it would still stop itself in midair, drop down, attack, etc. from the last post. The only difference now was, it moved faster. Shadow spells repaired a shadesteel golem's damage; positive energy or spells of light hastened it.
Nasty buggers, shadesteel golems were.Construct traits * Not subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. The positive wave pulse - the mimicked opposite of the golem's pulse - wouldn't destroy every undead within a 40-foot radius instantly. It would damage them though to varying degrees, but since they were all still fresh from the first pulse, they would all still be standing - and by now swarming around Maximos.
The necromancer, standing atop the rooftop still, noted how Maximos absorbed the lightning bolt he sent down at him, and how he copied the golem's pulse wave. He would bide his time for now, wait for him to wear down from the hordes mobbing him, wait until his attention wasn't on the necromancer. Then he would strike.
In the alleys around the battle, shadowy figures flitted about.

"Sir, Mage Simms is requesting reinforcements in the town square."
Captain Krik rubbed his dry chin with his gaunt fingers, pondering for a moment. It was too early for them to make their presence known, and they didn't want to expose themselves to the enemy just yet.
"Let him know that we will be dropping the Package on his location," Krik replied.
"Yes sir."
Doors opened on the belly of the airship and a single, enormous wooden crate was pushed out, with a parachute pack attached to the top of it, "fragile" stamped in red on the sides. It would fall for several seconds before the chute automatically deployed, sending the crate floating down to the town square.

The amount of momentum required to toss such a large creature would have to be carried out by the arm. That would leave the arm, and Maximos, to make a wide 360 degree swipe as it completed the motion. With a massive arm, and its elongated fingers layed together like a paddle, the undead unlucky enough to be in its 7ft round path would take a powerful bashing.
Yes, there would be more zombies shambling over the initial wave. But that would take time. And time was simply not something they had. He had wasted enough time on the necromancers toys. It was time to take the fight to the source.
With an extra 3/4 of a ton on his boots, they were free to blast him straight up over the Golem and forward at the necromancer himself. His massive right was bent at its elbow, ready to swipe with its fingers bent inwards for maximum flesh carving potential. And his left holding bat, lifted up in a defensive position.
Once within striking range he sent a powerful airborne swipe at the necromancer himself. Needless to say, if the arm packed enough wallop to toss 1500 lbs, it had enough to shred a man into bits.
