Steal Dementia sighed again and shrugged, bowing her horned head and playing with one of her hooves. She had been sitting in the main hall for a few hours, nearly bored to tears. The younger two were in pre-school and her older brother was in elementary now, but she really didn't have a place she belonged. Aqua pauses as she sees a demon girl sitting in a corner. Smiling, she trots over, and, beding at her waist, looks curiously into Dementia's face, then smiles widely and cheerfully again. "Hey there, I'm Aqua!" She laughs softly.Sere harumphs, and trails after her sister as she introduces herself to another girl. Why is she always so happy go-lucky? It get's on my nerves so much! Bahh! Sere shakes her head, and glares at the wall.

Prolixity "Yes, indeed," Sei said, and swept an elaborate bow. "I'm looking to rent an apartment, but the manager doesn't seem to be around - would you happen to know the rent here?" He gave her a long, appreciative look and a brilliant smile. She smiled at him impressed by his manners. Not many people had them or at least, not many of the younger kids. Yume nodded and tried to remember how much her mother said it was a month. "If I remember correctly, it is 20g a month at the 1st of the month. The manager comes and goes. She does have other business to tend to so we manage well without her at times." Yume nodded towards the empty desk behind him wondering when Arafel would show up again. A moment later, she blinked and held out her hand. "My name is Yume. Welcome to our..."humble" home." She cracked a smile at the last part that showed she was trying to hide laughter.

Dementia blinked and looked up as she heard someone speak close to her. Her first impression of the girl was that she was in a bit too extreme of a closeup, bending and looking right into her face. "Uhhh, " Came the rather intelligent reply from the young demon. "Er.. Not to be rude, but can you back up a bit so I can focus on you." The words slipped from her mouth before she could stop them. She was a brooder and more of a subdued girl, but for once she felt... a need if you will, to meet someone and have a person to talk to. Sylas was shy, but from time to time he would make what he called friends, she had never had one.

"D'you have a problem with your eyes or something? Some people wear glasses sometimes, and that usually helps. "She nods cheerfully.Sere snorts. "Aqua, if she's a blind bat, then why d'you even talk to her?"Before Dementia says something, Aqua aims her index finger at Sere's butt, and shoots a little spray of boiling hot water at Sere, causing her to jump.

Ritsu cautiously made his way down the hallway, poking his nose around every corner before continuing. Rime had told him that she was worried because he never left the apartment, and that he should get out and make some friends.
But who would want to be friends with me? I'd just mess up anything they do... He thought to himself as he half-heartedly searched the halls for someone to 'make friends' with.
I miss all everyone... we should be having the New Year's celebration soon. It'd be Kureno's year this year... He sighed deeply as he came to an alcove where a plant had been set in, and climbed in behind it, feeling rather depressed.

That sounds more than manageable." Sei tapped a finger on his lower lip thoughtfully. "It seems a reasonable place to live. I think I'll see about renting a room, then."
He took Yume's hand - but instead of shaking it, he pressed a delicate kiss to her fingers. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Yume. My name is Sei. Thank you for the warm welcome."((Sorry about the long lag time - our flight back got canceled and we had to stay longer than planned! xp ))

((It's all right. Planes can be a problem...))
Yume smiled thoughtful but then her face turned a slight shade of light red as a blush covered her cheeks. She wasn't expecting a kiss on the hand and it really wasn't a custom she was used to from anyone. Glancing around a bit, just making sure of who was around, she looked back at Sei. "The pleasure is all mine. It's always nice to meet someone new for a change."
She glanced back over her shoulder and smiled hard before looking back at Sei. "Though I must warn you that there are a number of small ones running around everywhere. Someone aren't as bad as others and some just need to relax but I hope that is no problem. They are really wonderful." She smiled hoping that he didn't mind the kids and wouldn't mind them as there number grew.

Demenita sighed. She wasn't blind, she just didn't want to make a mistake and think that someone was someone they were not. That may not have made much sense to anyone else but it did to her. "Im sorry, I just.. Why am I saying sorry, its not my fault. My eyes aren't that bad!" She blinked and looked over, seeing the water girl get the other wet. "Now that was just cool."

Sei tucked his hands into his pockets, slouching comfortably. "Are there new arrivals often?" he inquired.
"I don't mind children," he replied, looking thoughtful. "We've all been children once. Most of us, anyway." A flash of a grin. "And most of 'em grow up, yeah?"

"At least physically." She smiled back at him. "And yes, as long as there are fallen there are new comers. This is where we are safe. No one cares about the reason we are here or at least, no one I know of. I'm sure you will enjoy it here."

A high-pitched mechanical whine sounded from the stairwell, and a moment later, a remote controlled car shot from the propped open door way, bouncing around on it's little rubber wheels, almost spinning out of control.
A happy yell came next, followed shortly by Avery, wearing nothing but a pair of cut off sweatpants, socks, and a madcap grin as he thumbed the joystick on the control he held. The little car tore around the room at top speed, never slowing as it swerved back and forth wildly to miss hitting obstacles like plants, chairs, walls... peoples feet...
Avery payed no attention to the people in the lobby, more concerned with enjoying his new gift from Santa, and in his sigle-mindedness... missed dodging someone's feet, the little car running full speed into the feet, and bouncing into the air to continue on its way for a few feet before finally coming to a stop as Avery realized what he'd done.
Avery looked at the feet, and then his gaze went up... past the red pants, to the red shirt... he noticed the wings and horns, and looked quickly at the man's face before looking back down. "Uh... oops. Sorry! Really sorry! I didn't mean to hit you, honest, I didn't! I was just trying out my car, and..." He trailed off, hiding the control behind his back as he looked cautiously up at the older two with a sheepish, lopsided smile on his face, and a worried look in his eyes.
"Momma always says I need to learn to pay attention..." He looked down at his feet expecting to get scolded, because he knew he was supposed to be more careful.

Back inside the apartment, Rime sighed with relief at having gotten Avery out of the smallish space. It was actually a nice sized apartment... but having four people sharing it... and when two of them were prone to wild gesticulations (albeit for very different reasons), it became even smaller.
Ritsu was still over by the tree, distressed look on his face, trying to keep on foot planted on the box while he retied the ribbon. He had been so surprised when he got a gift from Santa, he hadn't protested opening it... until it was already opened. And then... well, Rime wasn't sure what happened then, but she thought she had it narrowed down to the fact that Ritsu thought, for reason's known only to him, that he had been a bad kid this last year, and didn't deserve a gift. Everyone tried reassuring him that that wasn't the case, but it only resulted in a distressed Ritsu, a misplaced hug from Alida, and then... a distressed Ritsu in Juunishi form.
Rime felt flustered just thinking about it... She took a deep breath, and considered once again attempting to convince Ritsu that he should keep the gift. I may have to employ unfair tactics... Or maybe I shouldn't. It could make him think worse of himself than he does now... Hm. Do I employ the 'guilt trip' or do I just tell him again that he does deserve the kimono? She mulled it over for a few more minutes, taking stock of the rest of the situation before deciding.
Alida had barricaded herself in the kid's room, to keep away from Avery, who kept ramming the chair she was sitting in. She had taken her gifts with her, and Rime thought that she was probably going over the John Donne book. The journal would be set next to the rest of the old notebooks in her bookshelf. Alida would never consider throwing away anything she'd written down, and all of her conversations were archived in that bookshelf. Rime smiled to herself thinking about it.
She wondered idly how to rearrange the room for when Sybil arrived... it was getting a bit crowded. She wondered if she shouldn't move them to a larger apartment... but she didn't know of any that had more than two bedrooms. She also considered again simply getting a hideaway, and staying on that herself, or changing the place to a more Japanese-style room... with the beds put in the closet every morning. It would certainly create more room when they all decide to go in there to do homework... Well, when more than just Alida has anything that truly resembles homework... She grinned, and then winced as Ritsu burst out in the background of her thoughts.
"Why won't the ribbon tie? What am I doing wrong? Santa should have given this gift to someone who wasn't so useless they couldn't even tie a box shut! I'm sorry I decieved you Santa, I apologize with my whole heart! I can't even get the gift back to you to go to it's rightful owner without messing things up! Forgive me!" Ritsu had seemingly given up, staring at the box with a woeful expression after the outburst.
Thankfully, they seem to be getting shorter... Rime got up and slowly walked over to the distraught boy, sitting down next to him, and stroking his hair. "Ritsu, honey, maybe it's time to consider that Santa wanted you to have this gift... and his magic is making it so you can't box it back up. Watch."
Having watched Ritsu fail at even getting the box to shut properly, Rime had a good idea what was going on. It was like trying to get two magnets to touch, when you had the same sides towards each other. It just didn't work. They didn't want anything to do with the other. And with Ritsu watching, Rime made an admirable effort at getting the box to shut. And when she finally sat back with a deep breath, even Ritsu couldnt argue that she had just been playing at it. She had even lay down on top of it, and it just slid to the side, tossing her off, and landing a few inches away from the bottom half. Definitely not something a normal box was capable of.

"What do you say? I think Santa wouldn't have gone to all this trouble if the gift was for the wrong person. You might even say that it probably wouldn't have opened for the wrong person... if Santa is even able to give out the wrong gifts..." Rime pondered that for a second, and then shrugged, interrupting Ritsu as he opened his mouth... probably to apologize for offending Santa.
"Why don't you go into my room, and you can change into the new kimono, so I can see what it looks like, okay, hon? I'll wait right here, and you can bet I'm eager to see you in it. It looks lovely!"
With a defeated look, and an indecipherable sigh, Ritsu bundled the kimono up into his arms, and walked into Rime's bedroom to change. A few minutes later, he peeked around the corner, and said very quietly. "Uhm, forgive me, Rime-san... I tried and tried, but I can't get the bow to look right. It's more complicated than my other ones..." His cheeks were bright pink, and he looked mortified.
Rime smiled and shook her head as she got up. "I wouldn't expect you to. The obi is tricky! I only have the one kimono myself, and I always have to try a few times before I get it looking presentable. Hey! There's an idea! I'll get dressed up, too, and we can get some pictures, just you and me, okay?" Rime rambled on as she undid Ritsu's belt, and tied it carefully. She looked at it critically afterward, it wasn't perfect, but then again, she didn't expect perfection.
He turned around and looked down at himself, and then gave Rime a tentative smile. It was a traditional kimono, and much more elaborate than the ones he usually wore, and it was lovely indeed. He sounded almost breathless as he said, "It is lovely, isn't it? But... how can it really be for me...? Doubt crept into his voice again.
"Because it reminds us of you, sweetie. But you're much better than any kimono." Rime bent over to give him a kiss and a pat on the top of his head, and then said, "Scoot, kiddo! I need to get mine on, and then we'll go find someone to take pictures of us! Okay?" She grinned at him, and then gently angled him towards the door.
Outside of the room, Ritsu stood there for a few moments, and then went to very carefully sit on the edge of the couch. He looked at the dyed and embroidered sleeves of the kimono, and sniffled a little. Rime-san likes me better than the kimono? But, it's such a beautiful one.. and I'm just... me... He sat there, lost in thought, while Rime got ready in her room.
((Ye gods. I didn't intend for that to get so long... so I broke it up, and it's still... ye gods. O.o; ))

Yuki slowly made his way down the stairs, a hand on the railing to make sure he didn't fall to his death... He was staring in that mirror he had gotten. It had a small mouse emblem at the bottum.. he frowned at that.. He didn't want to be the rat. He just wanted to be himself.. to be who he was. "But you are the rat.." a voice chimed in his mind, he growled a bit before rlaxing and giving a sigh.. okay.. so he didn't want people to accosiate him with that rat in the fairy tale.
He glanced back at the small line of rats following him.. Arafel hadn't had the heart to kill off any rats in the place, so she had lead them all outside and fixed every nook she could find herself. It seemed to had worked for the mostpart, only 3 or so rats and mice from the whole complex. He made it to the bottum floor, making his way into the large area watching as kids ran about and such. He frowned when another mouse ran up to him, the others also makign their way to crawl up him. He stuffed the mirror in his pocket and glanced around. Part of the curse about him.. him being a rat himself, it seemed to draw almost every rat or mouse in the area right to him.. expecially if he was emotional..
"Why'd I come down here anyways..?" he muttered to no one, before nearly jumping out of his skin..
"Yuki-onii-san!" the high pitched voice of his younger "sister" pipped behind him. "Have you seen Avery or Spiro..? I wanna show them the puzzle I got!" she smiled brightly, as if this was the best day ever. Like every other day.
Yuki blinked and watched a little toy racecar whizz past him and into some adult.. then the boy run by he raised his arm to point jerking back when the girl was about to hug him.
"Ah! i'm sorry! i'm not supposed to hug you.. uhm.. sorry!" she flinched, suddenlly worried he'd hate her..
"Its fine.."
"really?" she smiled looking off to Avery's direction. Grinning she started making her way over to the boy.

"I'm sure I will," Sei smiled back.
A mechanical noise and footsteps caught his attention a few moments bfore a small blur rocketed past them - and then a toy car smacked into his shoes. "Ow!" he yelped, and pulled his foot back hurriedly.
He directed a mild glare at the young offender. "Watch out. Feet are not part of the racetrack, thanks."
