 Rufus woke up twenty minutes later, blinking up at Meme. "Hell-oowww..." he groaned.
Twenty-one.
Prince.
Next In Line.
Soon-To-Be Wed.
Trapped.
Princess Helena raced to the hospital wing. "Sarah? Could you come with Akito and I to help look for Rufus? Akito's worried in case he forgot not to ride too hard and wound up feeling ill." she sighed. "Not that Akito should be on a horse right now either..."
Akito nodded and went to Helena and his brothers, who greeted him with hugs and chastisements for worrying them. "I'm sorry, but now we need to find King Rufus." He turned to Helena and had a quiet word in her ear.
Once she'd nodded and left, he noticed Julian was... shifty. "Julian, what's wrong?" As he asked, he led his brothers from the room and started for the stables to get a horse - Rufus liked riding, so it was likely he was farther out than a quick walk.
Julian bit his lip. "I-I, uhm... I'll tell you when we're alone, okay?" He cast his eyes to Liam and looked so worried that Akito merely nodded and got them all onto horseback.
The rider puffed out his chest. "I respectfully request an audience with King Rufus, to deliver my King's message to him. King Lionel understands that this is a delicate time, but his own delicate flower is within your walls. Either you let me in, or my King shall doubt her safety."

Meme started to panic again. "Don't talk, stupid! Just relax, I'll figure something out." he said rather unconfidently, hoping someone would notice that they had been gone for a little too long.
 } { Sarah } {
Sara had been busy with her salves when Helena approached her. "If he's passed out again I'm gonna strap him to his bed myself!" she groaned, following Helena and seeing Akito hop on his horse, along with his siblings on other horses. Sarah chose the only mare they had, even though she was a bit smaller than the others, Sarah judged it was strong enough to hold someone as petite as her. "Helena you can ride with me if you'd like. Wherever Rufus is, his horse is with him so there will be an extra horse for you once we find him." Sarah said, extending her hand out to the young princess.

He wasn't going to thwart this messenger easily, he didn't want Lionel to think his daughter was in any danger. "Then you will abide by this kingdom's laws. You will hop off your horse and let one of our guards to bring him to the stables while I will escort you to the dining room. Failure to comply will result in our suspicions of your threatening the royal crown. Do I make myself clear?"

Rufus grinned at him. "I've fallen off a horse before..."

Princess Helena nodded, accepting the hand held out to her and sitting behind Sarah on the horse. "Thank you."
Akito waved to the ladies, made sure his brothers were secure and then set off, trusting they'd all find King Rufus soon.
After riding for awhile, they came to a field.
"Sarah, Princess - I think that's them?!" He pointed ahead.
The rider nodded, got down off of his horse and held his arms out by his sides, nowhere near any weapons. "Perfectly."

Meme couldn't help but give a little laugh but he didn't want Rufus to think he was tolerating this. "I don't care. You need to take better care of yourself! After the funeral I'm gonna take care of you, and you don't get a say!" he demanded. Soon Meme heard hoof beats in the distance and was relieved to see friends heading their way. He started to wave at them so as to flag them down.

Sarah smiled once they approached the boys and much to her suspicions Rufus had fallen yet again. "Damn it, I'm gonna wring his neck myself!" she grumbled, galloping faster so she was ahead of the crowd. She hopped off the horse before the animal stopped, an art she was well versed in since she needed to be off her horse as quick as possible to analyze the situation. She quickly knelt beside Meme and looked into Rufus' eyes with a very unhappy expression. "What happened, are you alright Rufus?" she asked worriedly.

Kuro watched the messenger hop off his horse and once the guard had hold of the horse's reigns Kuro opened the gate to allow the man inside. "I now must ask you to dispel any weapons on your person. We have not had an assassination in two generations and I will not break that record." he said sternly.

Rufus sighed and nodded. "Fine."
When Sarah arrived, he smiled up at her. "I went for a ride. The world got wonky and I fell off my stationary horse. The end." His stomach protested and he blushed. "I, uh, also forgot to eat anything."

Helena got off after Sarah, choosing to go stand with Liam since Akito had been held back by Julian - it seemed the older brothers needed to have a moment.
Akito pulled them to a stop, helped his brothers down and then turned to Julian; he knew Rufus was being treated by Sarah and that Liam was chattering to Helena, so now would be a good time to hear what was wrong.
"Out with it, Julian." he murmured, watching as his brother suddenly got shifty again, before blurting out in a whisper:
"Dad adopted again. Twins! They're so cute, Akito, but we don't have any money and I can't tell him to take them away because they do need a home and they held my fingers! Akito, what are we going to do?"
Akito felt his head start to pound and he spoke louder than he meant to. "He did what?!" he roared, jumping as he realised everyone was looking at them. "Princess Helena, can I trouble you to escort Liam back to the palace? I need to go home for a while..." he called, realising too late that the Princess should not be doing his job of protecting his brother. But when she nodded without a single sign of offence, he gave her the reins to his horse and set off home with Julian.
He nodded and removed all weapons, allowing the guards to check him and then producing the scroll. "I must hand this to King Rufus at once, and see for myself that Princess Helena is unharmed."

Meme would have told Sarah about not eating if Rufus didn't but his husband admitted it himself instead. He smiled at his honesty but he was still frustrated at his husband.
} { Sarah } {
Sarah couldn't help but give an exasperated groan, she could have thrown a tantrum right then. "Master Rufus you make it VERY difficult to be a loving and caring nurse!" she said frustratedly. "Do you think you can ride back or are you going to need someone else to get you there?" she asked, once again returning to her good natured self for the moment.
}{ Kuro Suji }{
Kuro nodded. "As you wish. If you would please follow me." he said softly, leading the messenger to the dining room where he instructed Martha to prepare something simple for the traveler in the castle. "I will find the Princess now, I hope you don't take offense but the captain of our guard will keep you company in my stead. Safety protocols." he said softly, already heading out of the dining room and running out to the fields, finding a horse himself so he could break the news to Helena. "Princess!" he called once he saw her in the distance. "A messenger from your father requests your audience." He stated once he reached her.

Rufus offered her a charming smile. "I'm sorry, but you do a wonderful job despite my ability to be irritating." He thought for a moment. "I don't 'think' I hit my head - Meme, did I?"
A concussion would make it difficult to ride, possibly.
He heard hoofbeats and smiled. "Look, the whole family is here."

Helena went to Kuro, taking Liam with her. "Did he say what he wants?" Then she sighed, turning to Liam. "We'll wait for Akito back at the castle and you can stay with Cook."
Liam nodded, holding her hand and smilng at Kuro.
He nodded and accepted the coffee Martha handed him, along with the biscuits.

Meme shook his head. "No I didn't see you hit your head, but your shoulder is gonna hurt really bad later on." he said softly, wondering if he'd be able to ride with a hurt shoulder. He looked off in the distance and saw Kuro rushing to find Helena. "I hope everything is alright." he said to himself.
} { Sarah } {
Sarah blushed and groaned louder. "I love my job, I love my job, I love my job." she repeated, trying to convince herself that this was the right job for her. "You should be fine with a hurt shoulder. I'm just glad Truant is a well tame horse. Just don't pull too tightly on the reigns with that arm. We have fewer horses now so we might have to buddy up." Sarah helped Rufus to stand and made sure he could stay standing for the moment. "Can you move your shoulders?"

Kuro was growing frustrated but he needed to keep his composure. "He has a letter and is instructed to personally see that you are well. Follow me, he is impatient." he said softly, turning his horse around and leading the way back to the castle. Once they reached the stables Kuro got down from his horse and took the Princess' reigns but let both of the horses graze in the field as they pleased. He hoped Akito would tend to them later. "Come Princess." he said softly, walking behind her to show his level of protection to the messenger, something he could tell Lionel about. They arrived in the dining room to see their guest enjoying himself. "I give you Princess Helena. Unharmed and in good health."

Rufus stood carefully, gently testing his shoulders. "I'll be fine; they're sore, bruised, but that's all." He wasn't sure about it, but he'd rather ride home.
To prove it, he got onto Truant's back with barely a wince. "See?"

Helena followed Kuro, sending Liam off towards the kitchens. She watched as the messenger bowed to her, then asked, "Why did my father really send you?"
When they entered, he stood and bowed to Helena, using his eyes to note that she was windblown, red-cheeked and seemingly in good health.
"Why, to inform you that he eagerly awaits your marriage to King Rufus. After all, King Lionel and King Alaric - may he rest in peace - arranged it, and so after a short time, the sadness caused by the funeral can be replaced by joyous wedding bells." He bowed again. "King Lionel himself intends to arrive in three day's time."

Meme gave his husband a concerned expression. He would definitely be telling Cook about this, she would know how to put him in his place. "Okay, lets get going then, and figure out what Kuro wanted." he said softly, already feeling the weariness of the day. Meme tried to get up on his own and was halfway up the animal when he reached for his husband's hand.
} { Sarah } {
Sarah gave him a motherly expression, almost as if her eyes were scolding him for not eating. "Alright fine. We'll head back to the castle." she said softly, hopping onto the back of Akito's horse to make their way back. She would check on his bruised stomach later.
}{ Kuro Suji }{
Kuro gave a heavy sigh when he heard the messenger's answer. What a mess this was. They would have to either put a rush on the funeral or postpone it until they could figure this out. "He is not King yet. I hope Lionel understands that. Master Rufus has yet to go through with the coronation ceremony after all. Until that happens he remains a Prince."

Rufus grasped Meme's hand, holding back a gasp of pain at the pull to his shoulder. He pulled Meme into place behind him. "You alright?" he murmured.

Helena turned to Kuro. "I will return home and try to persuade my father to see reason. He cannot possibly mean to visit before the funeral and the coronation!"
"There is no need to undertake the journey, Princess! Your father will be on his way even now. Please remain here until after Prince Rufus has at least read this message; I'm told it is important."

Meme saw the pain in Rufus' eyes and tried not to hold onto his hand for too much longer. He got himself situated and gave a soft sight. "Yes, I'm alright." he said softly, holding onto Rufus' waist lightly as they set off for the castle once more. Once they were back at the castle, Meme hopped off the horse with a somewhat harsh landing to the ground. Meme stood and dusted himself off. "Come on....lets go see what Kuro and Helena are up to."
} { Sarah } {
Sarah rode back to the castle as well, hopping off and returning back to the nurses wing to finish the work she was interrupted from earlier. She would create a salve for Rufus' shoulder and stomach as well. The work of a nurse was never done, especially with a reckless man like Rufus.
}{ Kuro Suji }{
Kuro was starting to get irritated. Did Lionel have no sense of time when it came to grieving families? True this family wasn't grieving much about the loss of their most recent King but it was the precedent that mattered. "When King Lionel arrives Master Rufus or myself will have a word with him."

Rufus looked at the ground, feeling dubious. He didn't relish falling off, or attempting to climb down. Still, he'd made his bed so he swung himself down and felt jarred all the way through. Still, when Meme mentioned Kuro and Helena, he shook his head. "Kitchen first, right?" He murmured, offering Meme his arm to link with.

Helena shook her head. "The instant Rufus has read it, I shall leave. My father cannot arrive during a period of mourning."
"King Lionel does not intend to force an issue during this time of mourning. He merely wishes to know his daughter is well and pay his respects to the deceased."

Meme smiled at him and took Rufus' arm. "U-um.....why don't you go to the dining room and I'll get you some food from Martha. If you tell her what happened I think she might only do more harm than good." he said with a small nervous smile. He let Rufus go into the dining room so he could deal with Martha. Heading into the kitchen, Meme gave Martha an innocent smile. "Rufus needs something yummy and nutritious to fill his tummy." he said as nonchalantly as possible.

Cook took one look at Meme and dropped the baking tray in her hands, her hands immediately going to her hips. "What did he do now?" She demanded, obviously furious with him. Then, before Meme could answer, she threw her hands up and turned around, muttering as she searched for something to feed him. "Nevermind. Stupid, idiotic boy, always provoking people; or falling off horses; or defending someone! Gah!"
