Awww. Where was Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet love theme when you needed it?

First Deli raised his bottle to toast the reunion. Then he found no-one else was at the bar, so that was slightly pointless. So he instead put the bottle on the ground, raised his foot, and brought it down in an attempt to smash it. "Mazel tooOOAHWA!"

Rather than smash, his foot slipped and the bottle rolled. Deli crumpled nicely to the floor on his back, just in time to notice that Eta V had joined them.

"Shaaaakes~! How you been, man? Never felt deader myself. Get it? Deader sounds like better?"

Second fall today. Owwww.

(( Eta II is ENTERING from the Final Task ))

He opened his eyes.
It was bright. Well, brighter than anywhere he had been the past few days.
Seemed like heaven.

He paused.
Heaven.

It then struck him that he was sitting on a very comfy couch as he shifted about. Sitting up, Eta II observed the scene around him.

It was pleasant. Very pleasant.
Heaven. he told himself. Though he wasn't sure yet.

He scanned the area once again. There was a bar stocked with drinks, and it seems as though a few had downed some already. And then there was a bulletin board.....and then a door. There were also other people.

Seems like all those in the test were transferred here....Hmmm, but there are....more of them here now He had an inkling of what had happened, but it didn't seem to bug him as much as he had expected. Still, he wanted to be sure.

Eta II didn't join the little party at the counter, instead he wandered over to the bulletin board where he had observed a note being stuck on. He read it.
Ah, so it is true.
As he glanced at the list, his eye caught a familiar name - Eta III. Eta II traced it with his fingers. So he was here too.

He spent the next few moments staring blankly at the board, occasionally shifting his glance up and down. It was a moment of reflection - everything he had been through the past few days, what had it made of him? What had he become? What of him has changed? He closed his eyes as he let the memories flow through him, surrendering himself to the moment. He smiled whilst recalling the times he had with his comrades, and smirked slightly as he remembered the strange creatures he encountered. He skipped over the chasm game though - that he did not want to remember. He would only grasp onto the good times. Sadness and fear were not worth reliving.

His chronological recollection had finally brought him back to the present. He mused over his answer for the last question - well at least it was a painless death, he wouldn't have it any other way. Ah, and how foolish it was of him to believe that a pendant would get him past the inevitable. Quietly, he stepped away.

It's over now, the next step awaits.

Eta II looked at the door. Had he correctly strung it together, the next destination would be through it. Beyond the darkness, he was sure, there would be some answers.
Or at least a continuity to him.

Perhaps he should bid farewell, have a drink. Striding over to the counter, he popped his own bottle of wine and poured it out into a glass. "Cheers", he addressed the other three. He brought the glass towards himself, but remembering that he still had his mask on, he settled it back on the table.

It was time to go.

"Perhaps I may see you all again." he said to the other three. "But for me, I shall be moving on first." He picked himself up and approached the door slowly, stopping just in front of it, staring straight ahead.

Go. he beckoned.

Right foot through first, Eta II drew a smile as he slowly disappeared behind the door into the unknown.

[ Zeta Nine enter from Final Task ]

Consciousness flooded into her. Wait... she was waking up. Nine couldn't remember going to sleep, just taking a test and then...blackness. Had it all just been a dream!? No, scratch that, a nightmare? Sitting up with a jolt, she found herself on a couch surrounded by other people in those all too familiar uniforms. Oh.... Sighing in sheer dispair, she looked around. Where was she? Looked like a bar. But wait... those people had died, right? Oh. Oh s**t.

Why was she dead?! She had been sat in that room with the other survivors taking that strange test, and now she was here along with some of the deceased she recognised and others who took the test. They'd been screwed over.

"No...nonono" she whispered to herself. She had almost made it. Survival and victory had been so close. And now she was dead. She didn't even know what she'd done wrong in this twisted place to land herself in this situation. Her body was shaking, emotions whirling through her brain like a tornado: confusion, anger, sadness, despair. And dissapointment. Can't forget that.

Moaning softly in annoyance, she noticed a door. The only door in the place. Every now and then people went through it, but they didn't come back. This was the place to go, she just knew it. Sitting around in a crappy little bar full of people she recognised but didn't particularly feel the urge to speak to was going to get her no where. Zeta Nine hadnt been particularly friendly with anyone this whole time anyway. Walking over to the door, she opened it only to be met with a strangely beckoning blackness. She supposedly came here with nothing and no one, and she was leaving here with nothing and no one. The Zeta girl wanted answers. Maybe this place would provide her with them, maybe not. Well... here's hoping. Shutting the door behind her, she stepped into the unknown.

(Delta 5 is entering from the Final Task)

'Hng... just 5 more minutes... it's at the really good part...' Deva groaned and rolled over onto her stomach, curling up a bit and giving a little sigh. Something kept prodding in the back of her mind that getting up now was something that she needed to do.. despite still feeling groggy. Well, not so much groggy as heavy, like she'd been asleep for a really long time.

It took her about 5 more minutes or so before Deva finally gave in and rolled over onto her back, opening her eyes to take a look around. White. Everything was white and she had the sickening feeling that she wasn't alive anymore. There were too many people around... much more than there were in the classroom at the time. 'I'm dead, this is really it for me. Those bastards are lucky I can't think of a way to come back and kick their asses right now... maybe I can haunt them or something. But it doesn't seem like they'd be phased by that.' she thought to herself.

Taking a deep breath, she began to look around in an attempt to see who all was there in hopes of spotting a familiar face. It seemed that Thev and Deli were there... and another Delta... possibly 9, she couldn't see very well from this point. Seemed as good a point as any to get up since it seemed the longer she stayed there alone, the quicker she was going to start freaking out over suddenly being dead. "Hey guys, seems we all ended up in the same place..."

(( Eta VI entering from Final Task. ))

Her mind was floating.

For a few minutes, she wasn't worried about anything. She was comfortable and everything was fine... Everyone was...
Everyone.
Eta Six forced her eyes open, forcing herself awake. She sat up, quickly looking around. The others. She had to find the others. She groggily got to her feet, briefly glancing around. Her gaze honed in on the familiar dark blue uniform and greek symbol on the helmet of Eta V. "Eta Five..." Wow, she didn't realize how relieved she sounded. She instantly moved to sit by her teammate, glancing back as she watched another familiar figure--Eta II--disappear through a door.

"Do you think we should go too?" she asked, her voice quiet. If she went through that door, there was no going back. That part didn't scare her. It was the leaving people behind... If she went through that door, she wanted to go with someone--a friend.

Wow, even in death his Jokes sucked.

" Really? Thats a shame." Eta V replied, amused that his new nickname was 'shakes' Considering all things, it really made sense for him. "I just came back from a test, I think it sucked the life out of me" And there was his own lame attempt at a joke.

He looked over to see Eta II approach, and watched the other as he poured himself a drink. "Cheers" he responded hoping to be polite, then realized the guy was about to walk through the door. He felt his chest tight up. His teammate was about to disappear...forever. What was he supposed to say?

"...Have a good trip Eta II"

He then watched the other disappear throughout the door, knowing this was probably the last time he would ever see him.

Eta V sat there for a minute, watching another person appear and just as quickly venture through the door. As he pondered about the person, he saw Delta 5 appear as well. Wasn't she one of Deli's friends? And then another eta II came to sit next to him.

"Hey Eta VI" he said warmly to her, and then picked up the bottle of wine from before. As for her question, he didn't answer straight away, instead pouring the other a drink and gently pushing it over.

"You can go if you'd like...but it would be nice if you had a drink first" He then poured Delta 9 a drink as well. "...Actually, it would be great if we could all go together..." He poured himself a drink of wine, and let the glass sit in front of him, looking at it sadly."I'm..to much of a coward to face death by myself..."

[Beta 9 entering from Final Task]

Sleep. Sleep was good. Her eyes closed.

Quickly her eyes opened. The paper was gone but so was her desk. Where was she, who were all these other people. Wait. Others were with her for the exam.

This place just sucked. Was this death then? B9 had survived all that time to just die. Everyone was dead then. No one seemed to be alive. Those f-ing gasmasks didn't work.

It was over though. B9 didn't care anymore. She didn't want to dwell on all of this. The girl wanted it to be over. B9 walked through the door and didn't look back.

"Really? That sucks," Deli answered Eta V, and snort-chuckled as he sat up. "Okay, okay, I'll be serious for a moment. So we're all dead I guess."

What else could explain it? One second they're all in a classroom, the next they're here in this rather quaint bar with couches and such. Considering the last few times Delta 3 had woken up in a tent and less than nice conditions, this was . . . almost alright. Guess Death wasn't so bad after all, if this truly was the after-life.

Problem was, several people had checked out the door during his stay, and no-one was coming out. Was that where everyone was? "This be Limbo, if we're going by Christianity's book," Deli answered as he joined "Shakes", along with Deva and Eta VI, at the table. "And . . . yeah. I'm totally for going as a group, if you guys don't mind."

It was nice, being friends with a fellow coward.

Deli being serious? Oh goodness, well if that wasn't a for sure sign that they were dead then Deva wasn't sure what else it could be besides the end of the world maybe. And if they were dead, it really was the end of their world... damn that was a depressing thought. 'This is really it then... we are dead. And oh hey, how much you want to bet that doorway over there is the 'light at the end of the tunnel.' she thought, trying to keep her own mini freak out to herself even if she was seeming a little more nervous at the moment. Glancing around here and there, watching people leave and others come in just to leave again... what did it all mean for them?

"I'm all for going as a group guys. Who knows what waits for us on the other side, if anything at all. And that scares me more than I want to admit..." Deva said softly and sat on her hands. Inside her mask where no one could see a few tears slid down, though it was force of habit to want to wipe them away so sitting on her hand was better than looking like an idiot for trying to do something she couldn't. Besides, who would want to be around a big cry baby when they were dead? "At least we'll be going in there together, even if we don't end up that way on the other side."

Eta V could only roll his eyes at how Deli responded, until he began to talk seriously, and he thought he preferred Deli's jokes. "I believe so, although if this is limbo, I still wouldn't mine a sympathizing guide..."

Deva's words didn't bring him much comfort either, He had no idea what would happen after they went through that door... "You're not the only one Deva" he responded.

Delta Nine wrapped her arms around Theta Seven, squeezing as hard as she could. They were dead, yes, but they were together, and somehow that soothed all the worries that Delta Nine had. She wasn't even sure why she felt the need to reach up and brush her hand against his cheek, bury her face in the armor on his chest (as awkward as it was to do that while wearing a gas mask, she managed). When she spoke her voice was clogged with unshed tears. Happy tears.

"I was about to go through the door," she said shakily. "There was no point in sticking around until... until I heard your voice," Delta Nine said with a quivery laugh. She felt like she could just stare at him forever. She didn't even know why she felt these emotions, but Delta Nine didn't question them. They were together again and to her that was all that mattered.

Eta VI nodded and accepted the glass. She put a hand on Eta V's shoulder. "I'd like to go as a group too. But you aren't a coward. Actually, I don't think anyone here can call themselves a coward." Her tone was gentle and sweet, as if trying to reflect the hidden smile on her face. "A coward wouldn't go off to fight demonic horses, shadow things and zombies."

She looked over at Deva as she spoke. "Yeah..." She glanced towards the door. "There are probably a lot of answers on the other side, but... I don't want to go if I'm leaving all of you behind." Her gaze returned to her three companions. "I guess... the thing that scares me more than anything else is being alone." Eta Six looked towards the door once more. "You know, it's kinda ironic... it's when I'm at the end when I find out my name sounds like 'Exit'."

Eta VI went quiet for a few moments, then shook her head to clear her thoughts. She turned to Eta V. "If we can, we should all meet up on the other side." Dead or not, Eta Six wanted to be with her friends.

He returned the hug not even thinking twice about it. It wasn't one of the awkward hugs he so often returned to others during his ordeals but a kind and warm hug. Theta Seven briefly leaned his covered cheek against her hand wishing briefly that he wasn't wearing his mask. The male wasn't sure what caused him to feel such emotion for this one person but he just rolled with it. There was no reason to question things especially when the answer was only a few steps away and behind a door (hopefully).

"I...I'm glad you waited," he said sincerely. Not that he would have blamed her for already going through the door. She had no way of knowing if or when he'd appear. "I'm...Sorry that I failed to stay with you and protect you..." All he wanted to say to her and yet there was so much more he wanted to add but he couldn't find the words yet. Instead he pulled a bit away though his hand still sought Delta Nine's hand as if unwilling to no longer part from her.

Theta Seven realized this was a bit mushy for others but quite frankly he didn't care. Delta Nine was someone he...formed a bond with. She felt familiar to him somehow in ways he couldn't explain.

"I...I am okay with going through the door all together," he said addressing Deli and the others as he stayed near Delta Nine. "I...I am ready if Delta Nine and the rest of you are..." As long as she was by his side he was ready for anything.

Slowly Thirteen would roll over, the Theta boy looked up at Theta five smiling slightly behind his mask before squirming to look around the lounge more from the floor. Everyone seemed to be talking in one way or another about the possibility of walking through the door. He wasn't sure what was on the other side, he wasn't really sure what everyone was talking about. Slowly his hand reached up grabbing Theta Fives.

"I don't recall what happens next honestly. I don't remember much at all anymore. I don't know... If I want to remember anymore?" Stumbling over to the bar he eyed the drink he woke beside, spilled, reflecting his face. The mask that was his face.

It wasn't his face at all and he hated it, but he couldn't take it off it would kill him. Or was he dead already? All the possibilities, he was sure he was dead he recalled being crushed to death... one of the things he could remember as much as he didn't want to.

"It's good to know... you made it Five. Wherever we made it too." He glanced towards the door frowning sadly. It called to him, but something about it, something about it made it feel very final; a point of no return. "I guess this is it. We didn't win. I saw uh... what happened... I'm sorry I couldn't you know. Help."

Slowly he pushed away from the bar stumbling towards the door. He paused just at the edge of the door looking at Theta 5 again.

"Don't you cry no more Five."

And with that he stepped through the door and into the darkness. Maybe now he would get the answers he wanted.

"Exit's not a name," Deli put in with a little smile. "It's a way to go~"

And really, with all the warm fuzzies going on in here, who wouldn't want to? It was like warm fuzzies was an energy source, ready to propel him along like a rocket. Why the hell should he try to be serious? If they were dead, they were dead. Maybe dying wasn't so bad after all, the way they went with sleeping. And in a class!

It was familiar. Almost . . . normal.

"Screw being serious!" Deli shouted suddenly, and stood up from the stool. "All work and no play makes Deli a dull boy! If the shadows're darker on the other side, fine - maybe we'll have some stars or a moon to guide us this time! Or I'll hit a tree because it's too effin' dark to see my own hand. BUT AT LEAST WE'LL KNOW THERE'S TREES."

If this was an attempt at a rousing speech, clearly he was not well-versed. He was very bad at being . . . cohesive.

"And I will continue to smack against whatever's in the way, so logn as we keep moving forward! Well, unless there's like . . . a lake or something. Then I'd sink, and I hope one of you grabs me."

And then he looked at the gathered group and nodded. Yes. Yes this was the sort of group that would save a drowning man in full-on armor and hazmat breathing mechanism from a lake in the middle of an island in the middle of nowhere.

Yes, indeed.

Saluting them all, Deli turned to the door, punched the air, and began to run towards dark opening.

"TO INFINITY AND BEYOND~!" he crowed, and hurtled into darkness.

(( Deli be concluded now, yo. ))
