I follow a bit behind, keeping watch at the rear.

I stopped, sniffing the air. Something smelled weird. And not the good weird... It was unnerving.

Where we were it was good that we were in the trees. The ground had turned to soft mud and something smelled terribly strange.

I didn't have a good sense of smell, but I could smell something weird.

My eyes narrowed as I stared at the ground. Cautiously, I broke a stick and dropped it, the stick disintegrating in the mud. I frown but continue on, speeding up. Something was very wrong here... and we would find out what at the end of this scent trail.

I saw one of the others speed up, so I sped up. Worried, I sank even lower.

I hadn't noticed it, but I was growling, the low rumble building in my throat. Whatever was going could get me to unconsciously growl? The though confused me, but I didn't drop my speed, just became more cautious, quieter.

I had a weird sense that I was going to smack face-first into something big.

And he does. Right in front of him is a giant, sleeping beast. It isn't a centaur, but its definitely part horse. I take a step closer to it, sniffing it to place the smell. He has a strong odor but he doesn't stir. It seems to be in a deep sleep.

I freeze when I spot the beast... I've heard of it.. Though it doesn't have a name, people from my village called it an elf-eater. Warily, I step forward, hoping to go around it.

It stays asleep as we tiptoe around it. We make it on the other side of him, passing. As I take another step, his eyes open, and I freeze.

I was still on the process of going around hi, so it could see me if it turned it's head just a little bit. I stand, frozen, eyes closed as I hope it just goes back to sleep.

I shook my head a bit after I smack into what my kind called a "Jagory beast" though it is not its real name, I saw it open it's eyes and look down a bit. I froze, but I changed my scales colors again to match the scenery around me.

I watched as our dragon friend disappeared, cursing silently. What I wouldn't give to be able to do that at the moment. Instead, I focused my attention on the elf-eater. These things had horrible eyesight... Unless you moved. It was better to stay still and not make a sound, because then they normally couldn't find you. At least I hoped that story was true... Most Dark Elves who met this thing never came back.

I had moved silently to my comrade and moved in front of her. I revealed my face to show the beast couldn't see her if she moved, but that was because I had my wings spread out enough to cover anything in front of me.
