I'm tending to agree with Des on this one. While I agree with Cale that they would've used mercs in the initial days of chaos when the Empire was killing itself, I'm sure over time, the locals would've teamed up and pooled their resources and semi-nationalized. Or maybe they're in the process of nationalizing.
Like, the systems are trying to come together and form a government, with an SDF, but the terrorism and local pirates are preventing that. It's almost like a repeat of what happened at Adumar, though not exactly

Anyways, I will agree with your addendum though. Their 'SDF' won't amount to much, and it'll only be able to really police the more prominent planets, probably around the 'core' of the system. Everything else would be SR and local police and militias

Interpol is ******** tiny! Total Strength of Interpol: 502 Total Employees for the Entire Globe. No, I didnt say that. You needed some real world comparisons of what the Sector Rangers are. Interpol is the closes thing to what they do and how they operate throughout the galxay, at least its closer than the FBI.
