@pirhan: I was asking about it over in the thread about mosquito's i believe. I've done some research since then that indicates that garlic tablets may not have as much of an effect as eating it raw (yeah raw not cooked as apparently cooking the garlic makes most of its healing/medicinal benefits) But also a lot of places seem to recommend taking a vitamin b pill because apparently it changes the way your sweat smells and mosquito's and other bugs are much less attracted to you then.
@esiris: that sounds like a pretty awesome cafe. Do you have to pay to use the sewing machines like some places make you pay for the wireless internet?
Today i slept in for the first time in about 2 weeks and got up at 10 instead of 7. Didn't do anything around the house though because i got called in to work 3 hours early because one of the other stockers called in sick and they had bagger's stocking until 2pm when they called me in after finally realizing that the bagger's were doing more harm than good due to lack of knowledge of how to put cans on shelves...sad. Anyways tomorrow i get up at 8am so i can go to a meeting at the rehabilitation place and find out about the progress my grandmothers made after her hip replacement and see approximately when she goes home since they keep putting it off. Then i've got to run home shower and make it out the door to get to my 3rd ENT visit for my ears (weekly visits to the doctor are a pain) Seeing how much progress there's been with the treatment and how much of the fungus is dead/removed. Man this has been a long time coming lol kinda gross the kinds of infections one can acquire even while being clean and relatively healthy.
wall of text finished.

Today I learned that they're telling the truth when they say a breakfast higher in protein will keep you full longer. I had a 3 egg omelette with onions and red peppers (and a little bit of aged cheddar cheese, you only live once!) I also toasted 2 small, thin slices of french bread and had a smidge of butter with them.
I haven't thought about eating once since then. I did some light activities (walked the dog for 40 mins, cleaned up the house, yard work). It's pretty cool. I can't wait until I get my chickens and they start laying, healthy chickens produce healthier eggs with less cholesterol, or so chicken keeping enthusiasts say. Anyway, I had a small bowl of cereal (whole grain) just now to tide me over until dinner. I feel good. Today was a really productive day.
I also applied for a writing gig that should make me enough money that I won't need to work a "traditional" job and I'll have more time to spend here at the "farm". My boyfriend keeps telling me that it's not 100% necessary that I work right now, but I would rather have some income so that we are better off. We won't be able to live here forever, and when that time comes I will need to work, so having money saved up will help a lot. Plus it's not fair that he has to foot the bill for my pets, he would be happier with either just a dog or no pets at all.

Strega Mama today we went to the feed store and saw they have some Australorp pullets in, and they were so very sweet, they just were clamoring over each other to get pets and scritches. i think i may try to convince my partner to get some of them.
I hope he/she says yes! Then I'll have a chicken buddy here xD We're HOPEFULLY FINALLY getting ours tomorrow, my boyfriend said he will pick them up no matter what time he gets out of work. FINGERS CROSSED!

I went coupon-happy today and printed a bunch for this week's groceries. I found a couple of sources that I hadn't used before. I didn't know this, but if you go to the coupon section of Target's website, you can print manufacturer's coupons as well as Target-specific coupons. Their groceries cost a bit more in my area, so I normally shop at a different store. xd
I also took a bunch of pictures of the amaryllis that escaped the thief. Looks like one of my harder-to-find ones that I wasn't sure about made it. That helped ease the pain a bit. I also might have found a source to replace one of the ones that died in the freeze. (I lost all of the bulbs I had of three varieties to to different freezes, and at least 6 bulbs to the thief, so my collection has taken a huge hit.) I'll post some of the pics in the garden section. It is still early for a few of the varieties to bloom, so hopefully more pics to come. biggrin
I have also been working my blog for a while now. It is still rough around the edges, so no link yet. It started as a thread here- but the thread is dead and nobody reads it anymore (winkies)

Teh_plague @esiris: that sounds like a pretty awesome cafe. Do you have to pay to use the sewing machines like some places make you pay for the wireless internet? I think so- but they also do classes which sound like fun. heart Yesterday I donated a bunch of plastic containers to the local art studio- that way they can have a second life. We also built gardens for families like us- who don't have a lot of $$$. Then my girlfriend and I went down to opening day at the Market. We found another mushroom she'll eat- which has been hard because she doesn't like mushrooms but they help treat her depression. The guys running the stand sell kits- we can spread the "mushroom compose" in our garden or buy plugs and we'll grow edible mushrooms! heart We also got stuff to make strawberry lemonade from scratch and some amazing local berry preserves.

This happened on Tuesday, but waited until now to post it (I promised my friend that she would be the first I told/showed this and I didn't get to see her until yesterday afternoon.), but on Tuesday I donated about 8-9 inches of hair to a charity that makes wigs for people with cancer. :3

I just did that as well. How long (or short?) is your hair now? -- We're pretty much all packed. Few straggly items to put away and we're set for tomorrow. I don't mind packing, but I hate when you have a few miscellaneous items laying around that don't quite fit the boxes you have. The cats have been somewhat good. Bones, my big ole male, gets antsy and pinned Evangeline to the ground and was biting her. Someone had timeout that day. A little concerned about getting into Manitoba as Winnipeg is flooding at the moment. They always act so surprised each spring when it floods. YOU LIVE ON A FLOODPLAIN. In other news: the sun is big and hot!

I learned about different types of beach structures (such as breakwaters, sea walls, and jetties), and about coastal processes.
