Didn't remember how to say 'suck' in German. Besides, to Germans, the literal string of words "that - sucks - for - you" would probably sound very strange.

You guys wanna join my German guild?
Die Deutsche Gilde
It's kinda lonely.
And man.....I need to come here more. Anyway,
Hallo! Ich heisse Raina und ich bin sechzehn Jahre alt. Wenn ich deutsch ware, bin ich froeh.
But alas, I am not. So, I must be happy with being American.
Und WellzY, you're done with school already? You're in college I'm guessing.

There's alright a German Guild for actual Germans. They allowe non-natives to join of course. I'm a member, though I don't frequent it very often.
Hawks - "Das macht schlect" perhaps?
And yes, I'm in 'College' but we call it University in Australia, as they do in Germany and most of Europe. 3nodding

There are many ways to say it. Like there are in English as well... You don't say 'it sucks' literally translated. That would be 'Das saugt'. 'Saugen' is used in a sexual way as well though... These probably are the most common or most frequently used (by me anyways...): - Das stinkt. - Das nervt. - Das geht mir auf die Nerven - Das geht mir auf den Keks/Wecker/Senkel/Zeiger/Geist (you can choose one of them, either one is fine and any German would understand what you mean) - Das ist scheiße/blöd/dumm/bekloppt/bescheuert/doof/behindert/kacke/ätzend/kotzig etc. There probably are even a lot more, but can't think of anymore at the moment.

Eine Frage : What is the tax % for wages in Germany?
Some people who have lived there and are now here have said wages were high, but the tax was 50%. Is that true?

Athran Eine Frage : What is the tax % for wages in Germany? Some people who have lived there and are now here have said wages were high, but the tax was 50%. Is that true? Nope, not true at all. Who told you such lies? That would be crazy! How could you earn a living when half of your earnings would be taken away right after you got it? That's insane, really. I'm not too familiar with the German income tax, but this link might help you a bit: Einkommensteuer Our VAT (value added tax) is 16% at the moment, from first January.2007 they will raise it to 19%, which already seems to be a lot for us Germans. The VAT for food and books is 7%, not sure if and how they'll raise that one.

VAT Tax, is that anything like a GST?
We have a GST in Australia, it's essentially a 10% on everything, except there are some very confusing and ellaborate rules to some of it.

Lehrerklo
I am puzzled, Lehrer is a male teacher, but what the heck is klo? I translated it like teachers toilet rofl The fist thing came to my mind :'D Yes, my German isn't as good as I want it to be...

So "Lehrerklo" means "teachers' bathroom"!

It sounds the same to me. BTW, the T already stands for tax, so it's just VAT, not VAT Tax. wink I'm not familiar with VAT in Germany, but in Denmark it's 25% on nearly everything, but cigarettes, alcohol, automobiles, and a few other things get singled out for extra taxing.

In Germany they just raised it on January first 2007 from 16% to 19% which is still pretty small in comparison to countries like Denmark or Sweden/Norway/other Scandinavian countries.

(I can see how rusty I've gotten as I've had to use my German dictionary over and over again whilst typing this)
