"Bota, I don't want to go...." Cota whined quietly his ears had drooped.
"Neither do I...." Bota whispered back.

They both made it to the other side.

"Loba! We're sorry!" they both cried out in a unison.
Her head up high; "I know you two are, but that won't get you out of it." she said stiffly.

Another few minutes a desolate clearing opened up. The two pups whined. It was a dark scary place. The mist was brown and sickly....

Loba's head snapped upward as her cold eyes followed the bird. She turned her head towards the trees she had left behind...someone was there.

"3 times around!" she barked at the pups. "And after that I want you two to scout of the Pieces!" She said sternly.

The pups nodded and hesitantly moved out. He grumbled from deep within. She strode up to a three fallen trees, its branches dead and twisted. She leaped up and seated herself in a small depression of branches and leaves. It was like a throne. Her eyes wandered back and forth between the trees and the pups. The pups were quite a distance off.

"Cota....how many were...there?" panted Bota. "AAAH!!!" He skitted slightly around a hanging goo type thing.

"6...." Cota answered back. He side jumped a falling branch that shattered into tiny little splinters.

"I found one!" Called Bota, he jogged back towards Cota who was catching his breath from the narrow escape. There was a small silverly object in Cota's mouth. "Hey that's the one I found last time once around." He smiled.

"Why are they so far out in such a dangerous part of the wood?" Shi Shi questioned softly as she padded up silently near Kyo's right flank. She stopped standing infront of him, cocking her head in question as she sat down in spot so she she could lift up one of her paws and lick at it softly, it was currenntly starting to cake with blood and dirt, she had been busy hunting in the woods and hadn't hoped for any visitors at the moment. "How is wotcher doing?" she wasn't much for words, but her concern for the wellbeing of the other members of their pack was usually overwhelming.

Loba shifted in her spot. Then in a low raspy voice she spoke out, "Whoever you are....you are of my kin, tell Liddy that Cota and Bota might be late for their supper." She said without taking her eyes off the pups.

Arch continued to rest, but though he slumbered, he couldn't shake of the feeling of discomfort in the air. "There's something on your mind isn't there?" Arch whispered as he lifted on dreary eyelid to look at Lady Liddy. He couldn't sleep with someone near him feeling distressed.

Kyo came back to the den, pausing just long enough at the entrance to see whom was inside. "Miss Liddy, the two other pups might be a little late for dinner tonight. It would seem that the sitter has taken discipline into her own hands." A devilish grin crossed his features and the black-furred form was gone, the only other sound that was heard outside the den was the gentle wind rustling through the trees.

Liddy stared out the den entrance half listening to what Arch was saying.
"I'm sorry about that." She whispered turning her eyes back to the conversation. Loba would take care of her pups, she always did. There was no reason to worry there.
"I just worry sometimes, I'm sorry that you have to suffer because of it..." She looked around the shadowed den and frowned at the dissapearing sunlight.
"Cal will be waking up soon..." She murmured more to herself than Arch.
