Axel raised an eyebrow as he watched Seleba settle behind him. He knew the smoke caused some trouble, but he didn't think it was enough to make someone hide, though he had been around fire for a good amount of time, so he was used to it. Shrugging it off he looked back in to the fire. The light of the fire made his green eyes glow a bit. " I don't think it will be much longer. The fire is pretty hot, so the fish will cook fast." The red head turned and gave the female a small smile before turning back to the fire. "You know, you'll have to come out from behind be if you want your fish."

"I know," Selaba responded. She coughed once more, mostly for show, before adding, "But I'm just waiting for my eyes to stop stinging." She was feeling better, but figured waiting a little more couldn't hurt, and she could still see the fire fine from where she was. She glanced up at Axel, and noticed how the reflected firelight made his eyes look exceptionally bright. She couldn't help staring at the sight.

Axel leaned forward and poked one of the fish. It was hot, but it didn't really bother him. Turning, he saw Seleba staring at him. "Is there something wrong?" he asked was an eye brow cocked.

Selaba blinked and looked away. "Er, sorry, I didn't mean to stare. Your eyes just look really cool with the firelight reflected in them." She moved a little closer to the fire, since the effects of the smoke had worn off. As she did, the scent of roasting fish reached her nose. She looked at the fish assniffed a couple more times. This was another new thing for her, and she thought the smell was delicious. "That smells really good," she said.

Axel nervously rubbed the back of his head at Seleba's comment. "Thanks, I guess." He watched as the female moved closer to the fire and sniffed at the fish. "Don't get too close. You don't want to get burnt." he remarked as he took the fish from the fire. He waved his hands a bit in an attempt to cool the fish down a bit. As he waved his hands the fire grew bigger a few times. Freaking out a bit he stopped his waving.

"Don't worry, I'll be carefull," Selaba said in response to Axel's cautioning words. Then she noticed the fire growing and stepped back quickly. "Does fire usually do that?" she asked a bit nervously.

Axel clenched his hand a bit. He sighed and tried to play it cool. "Of course not. There is probably something going on with the wood. That's all. So, come back over here and just ignore it. Nothing is going to happen."

Selaba kept a wary eye on the fire as she settled down again beside Axel. She didn't question Axel's explanation, since she knew too little about fire to know otherwise. After it stayed about the same for a few moments, she turned her attention to the fish Axel was holding. "Is that one done, then?" she asked him.

Alex really had to find a way to hide is control over fire before Selaba finds out about it. He didn't know how, but he knew he had to come up with something. Her voice broke him from his thoughts. "Oh, yeah. Sorry." The red head handed the fish over to Selaba, still on the stick he he went to grab his.

"Thanks," Selaba said as she accepted the fish. She couldn't grasp the stick very well, and the fish was still a little to hot for her to hold comfortably, so she stuck the stick back into the ground. She tried to take a bite of it a couple times, but couldn't find a spot cool enough for her to sink her teeth into, so she settled for waiting for it to cool for a minute.

Axel, with fish in hand, watched as Seleba tried to take a bite out of her fish several times. Shaking his head in amusment, he lightly blew on his fish to speed up the cooling process of bit. "You know, you could always blow on it like I am. It doesn't really do much, but it helps in a way." Returning to his fish, he took a bite. It was still hot, but it didn't bother him too much.

Selaba watched Axel, then did as he suggested and tried blowing on the fish. After a few moments she tried again to eat the fish, and managed to take a small bite. Her eyes widened, surprised at how much cooking the fish had changed the taste. "This is great!" she said enthusiastically before eagerly eating more of the delicious meal. This time it was hotter and nearly burned her mouth, but she didn't care at the moment.

Axel watched, a bit amused by her reaction, as she continued to eat. "You know, you should eat so fast, especially if it is something hot." The Anthro started to get a bit dramatic. "What is something were to happen, like you mouth catches on fire, or you get sick? What am I supposed to do then!? What if it is something more like a stomache virus or a bug!? What if you die!?" Axel poked playfully poked the female. "Just warning you." He returned to his meal like nothing happened.

Selaba stopped eating suddenly and looked at Axel. She wasn't too worried about getting sick, since she hadn't gotten sick for as long as she could remember, but..."Can a mouth really catch on fire?" she asked skeptically. It seemed impropable, even to her; mouths were wet inside, she reasoned, and from what little she knew, wet things didn't generally catch on fire. Still, you never knew, so it didn't hurt to ask.

"Hm" Axel tapped his chin with a gloved finger as he thought about. "Well, you never know. A little moisture never stopped a raging fire, so it could happen." The thought of experimenting to see if it could happen excited him a bit, but he knew he could get in trouble for it, but that never stopped him before! What did he care.
