Lexie sighed softly as she unpacked her lunch bag. Why in the world did she pack all this s**t anyway? She couldn't tell. She shrugged and stuffed the majority of her lunch back in the bag, keeping out a water bottle with a crystal lite packet next to it, an apple and a pudding cup. The rest would go in the trash. She probably packed it all with her morning cravings anyway. Things she thought she would want. It happened a lot. As Remi approached, she laughed silently to herself. Him and his flirty smile again.

"Um...I don't believe I said you could sit here." She made sure her tone was obviously joking, and gave him a playful look. As he did sit down though, she shrugged at his question. "It's been going alright..typical school stuff. Ya know the deal. It happens every year. What about you? Are your friends giving you any trouble? I mean if so....well, I don't know what I'd do....but they need to quit it." After a moment, she just had to laugh at her own words. "Sorry. I sounded so weird just then. Hey...you should meet some of my friends from my old school this weekend. I think they'd really like you."

Remi blinked at her, an odd look of hurt on his face when she'd said such a thing. But then he laughed again, forgetting it in a second, then lsitenign as she just relayed in short things over the boring school day. "I think sometimes I prefer regular school days over oreintation. They never shut up. Gets annoying." He mumbled that last part, eyeing the lunchline as it began to die down quickly. He waited to answer Lexie before he would go and get some himself, for his older brother, Ethan, had given him a twenty earlier this week for helping himclean his garage. How exciting. At the mention of his friends, he shrugged, not looking at all interested. "They're just trying to make me jealous or somethin'. You know, glare at me, and then start flirting with the hottest girls about." he grinned playfully, "I was too busy to notice, falling asleep or getting a pencil thrown at my head as the teachers told me to pay attention." He laughed quietly to himself, then pushed his chair back and stood up. "Hey, be right back. I'm going to get some lunch. Do you want anything? I saw that you put your like.. whole lunch away." He blinked at her again, giving her an odd look.

"Actually, nevermind then. You'll see!" Remi grinned and quickly scurried off around the tables, going straight up to the front of the line to pay for a lunch. The old woman at the front didn't seem to notice, but the students did, looking past the people in frotn of them while complaining to their friends. Remi was crowded by the people, going forth into a certain area as he picked food out form various places. One stand inparticular held a smoothie area. With a small thing of lunch in hand, he ordered two mango smoothies, because they his favorite, and he wasn't sure what Lexie liked. he paid again, grabbed the smoothies up, and quickly darted back over to Lexie.

"This morning you had a smoothie. I thought you might like some nourishment to get you through the day. Water just won't cut, girl." he laughed as he sat down again, pushing the smoothie over to Lexie with a smile. He took a sip from his, watching her curiously to see if she would like it, or even want it.

"Well, yea...For some reason I--" Lexie began to respond, but stopped short as Remi ran off. She shook her head a moment, trying to figure out what in the world just happened. She watched as he pushed his way to the front of the lines, her head slightly tilted. As he came back with the smoothie, her face brightened with a smile.

"Thanks, Remi! This is great! I love smoothies. They're the most delicious healthy food I've ever had." She laughed a little and took a sip. Mango. Her second favorite. She was always one for the tropical types. She didn't expect the school to have Passion fruit anyway. They weren't that fancy. "This is delicious! Much better than some tiny pudding cup. I could never figure out why people liked those...or why I liked them for that matter." She laughed again and took another sip.

She looked at him for a moment, completely silent, as if examining him, or trying to figure out what he was thinking. In truth, because of what she was she could...but she wouldn't use that power...not for this.

"Remi...I have to ask you something. Why are you still here? Why didn't you run off when you saw...well...what you saw? I mean I'm happy you didn't, but..." She paused, not knowing how to word it. "Remi..." She lowered her voice to a near whisper. It was hard to hear over the crowd, but she was sure he'd be able to. "Remi...I get the feeling you know something about me. Something I didn't tell you..." She knew she probably sounded like a freak. She probably didn't make any sense and he was probably wondering what in God's name she was talking about...but it was the only way she could think to put it.

“I guess I really should go…”

Sariel mumbled as he tried to interpret the boys question, not really sure if it was a suggestion to do otherwise or not. Fae’s eyes shifted away from his own, and for a moment Sariel felt a feeling almost of betrayal. This boy’s eyes were simply beautiful, the warm color of blue and vermillion making him smile slightly; maybe this year would be different, better in a way.

“No, I would think that name to be rather one of a kind… Her name was Fate, she was amazing really.”

He smirked lightly and brought a hand to his chest, the movement slow and somewhat jerky at the same time, his self restraint for the motion gone as soon as he spoke her name. After realizing what he had just done his hand dropped back down and cradled the other one, the scent of blood simply more then he could tolerate at the moment.

Sariel watched the boy as he chewed on his lip, the sight somehow familiar, something humans did when in thought? Surely this boy was something other then a human, something strong and free like himself; then again that was too much to hope for. He watched the boy’s eyes almost intently now, the shifts from violets, to golds, to paler shades of both was almost mesmerizing, the boy himself striking him as well. After a moment he noticed Fae’s hand holding the tissue towards him, a small sigh escaping his lips as he took it and pressed it to his wounds; a dull sting making him cringe slightly.

“Breakfast, with you?”

The question was simple and made his stomach rumble, it had been a long time since he had gotten to eat anything, his new parents rather flaky about the responsibilities of having children. His answer sounded rather rude in his mind, and quickly he dropped his gaze to the floor; trying to think without those eyes in his view.

“I mean, sounds great… I am starving…”

he closed his palm around the tissue and let it soak the blood away from the wounds, the pain and then scent keeping his eyes a permanent obsidian. He looked down the now empty hallway and smiled slightly, deciding to remove his sunglasses now that the rest of society had left; after all Fae wouldn’t really mind, right?

((I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you reply I will be happy. I rather like your posts and think it would be a shame if you disappeared.))

Remi laughed for a moment, "Yeah, they got just about the regular flavors you could find anywhere. Strawberry, mixed berry, Mango, peach. Get s a little out of variety sometimes, you know? But I still like them." He smiled sheepishly, taking another sip. He put the smoothie down, and reached down for one of his fries that came beside two small chick strips. He was about to put it in his mouth when she started on a different mood. He pulled the fry from his mouth, staring at her with one of those blank, odd looks, as if he was lost for words. Actually, he really wasn't; it was merely him holding back from saying anything. He wasn't sure about her. But he knew something was up. And althoguh other spirits did exist, that much he could almost tell, what was the real, serious chances of Lexie being one? But then again, maybe that's why she called herself a freak sometimes? Because of such reasons. If she was, was she afraid of it? Remi wasn't. He loved what he was. He was thin, agile, could run on forever without ever getting tired. He could feel free like a bird. Why not take advantages of such a gift when you could never show your true form? The Anka was a very patient, docile being. It didn't need such treatment. Remi had actually started wonder if it started sleeping or something. Which was the fear of ever bringing it out; who knew what it would do once awake.

He looked away from her, hearing her clearly like a hawk trapping a mouse. He stared ahead of him, at the blank walls around him where no tables were, nodding slowly. "Well," he began, still not looking at her, "I'll tell you this much. I don't think you're weird, or anything in that case, for this morning. Things happen, don't they?" he wasn't sure how he could put this. His lips pursed into a thin line, nervousness creeping into his body. Fear of anyone knowing what he was. Had he given such a lead of something like this? No, she wouldn't know. She wasn't like him, right? As he thought more and more about it, he grew more tense, his body like a statue in the seat. Eventually, someone would find out. Someone would wonder why he was so light, his bones so different, a freakin' airsack for pete's sack, something only a bird had. He closed his eyes for a moment, lips tightening even more as he leaned over slightly.

"I don't know anything, Lexie. There's nothing to know, right? I mean. Like I said... things happen, don't they?" he finally looked at her again, with an odd, emotion-filled look in his eyes. Not even Ethan, his dear brother knew what he was. No one did. If Lexie was like him, he would find out first before ever leading on to what he was. He cleared his throat, and looked down at his food, then took another sip of his smoothie in silence. He sighed then, stretching his arms out on the table. How he longed to do so as an Anka. "But... I am curious." His eyes perked up, brows raising at her, "What did happen earlier? I mean, you looked pretty, er.. what's the word... stricken?"

((I think I'll reply as long as you're around. I quite like your posts as well :3 ))

The way Sariel repeated Fae's question caused the younger spirit born to wonder whether or not he was interested. He sounded fairly incredulous, at any rate. The thoughts made his eyes go a light green and silver combination... Though when Sariel's stomach rumbled, they gained a hint of lavender as well. Not that Sariel could see any of it; he was looking at the floor. Hmm... Perhaps I should not have shown him, Fae thought curiously, his eyes returning to the grayish purple they had been when the two had first met. It fascinated him, that even as he put his "sunglasses" back on, Sariel removed his...

Fae smiled, though, when Sariel accepted his invitation. "Excellent. Let's be off, then," he said, turning to walk down the hallway without any further ado. The dark-haired boy paused, though, and turned back. "If you want to leave your backpack somewhere, I recommend on the top of the lockers," he said, a slightly mischievous half-smile gracing his face. Fae paused there, allowing Sariel to do as he liked, before turning and walking on. Walking, or floating, almost. The way Fae moved was too smooth, too balanced, to be entirely normal. Many people asked him if he danced, though he'd never done a step in his life. It was just how he walked; neat, clean and efficiently beautiful.

"What are you in the mood for?" Fae asked, turning to half-face the town's newest arrival. There were several places to eat in the town, and each had its own specialty. There was a breakfast place, yeah, but that didn't mean they had to go there. Fae himself didn't like it overly much, except for their omelettes. They did know how to make an omelette. Other than that, there was a burger place and a Mexican place. There were other restaurants, to be sure, but the ones Fae was thinking of were cheap and student-skipping-class safe. Not that Fae had ever been caught by the cops... They never seemed quite able to catch him.

((Why thank you ~*-*~))

Sariel’s eyes returned to Fae’s the marvelous vermillion and lavender gone, replaced with a dull somewhat morose looking grey. The sunglasses were folded quickly and slipped back into the neon blue bag draped over his shoulder.
“Let’s be off…”
He mimicked as he began to follow the boy, his feet scraping roughly along the floor as he tried to control the beast within. It had been too close to escaping lately, and this boy certainly wasn’t helping matters, besides grace and beauty there was a certain scent about him; something warm making the puppy inside of him all too disobedient.

“I like to keep my things with me, my notebooks especially…”
His tone was somewhat dark as he said this, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked around, watching the lockers slip away, and watching as his body left the school building on the very first day. His attention was drawn to the way the Fae walked, the grace in every step. He could feel himself slipping in that area, his once graceful predatory stride gone; replaced with the walk of a human. This creature was amazing, more self control the Sariel had, more control, more fluency, and ability to meet people obviously.

“Anything is fine with me; I am so hungry I could eat a lamb…”
He chuckled softly at his own joke, his breathing smooth and calm as he tried to clear his head.

Charlie had finally found her locker and had gotten settled into her new surroundings when the lunch bell rang. She let out a gasp slightly and shut her locker grabbing the books she needed for the next classes. "Oh..I can't be late for the class that's not even a class!" She craddled her books in her right arm and ran as fast as her black heels would allow. She burst open the two doors leading to the lunch room. Her eyes widened as everyone stared at the "new girl". She let out a sigh and slowly walked over to the salad bar.

She picked up an orange and a container of milk and walked to the cashier. "That will be $2.00 please." The older woman wore a hair net and had a mole on the side of her chin. Charlie stared at it but blinked a few times, regaining reality. She reaches into her black purse and pulls out the two dollars, gently handing them to the woman. "Thankyou.." Charlie nodded slowly walking away, her eyes still fixed on the mole until it was out of sight.

As soon as she got over the old woman at the cash register she turned to face the lunchroom. She stood looking at the other students and froze solid. She felt like she was a monkey in a cage at the zoo, and everyone was laughing at everything and anything she did. She threw up the orange and caught it about five times until she realized where to sit. She walked down the different aisles, her heels tapping across the tiles as she migrated to an empty spot. She sighed and pulled out the white plastic chair and sat down, gently folding her white mini-skirt so that she didn't seem improper. She also had on a white blouse with seaquins all around the collar. A nice choice for the first day of school, but yet no one was there to say how it looked. She gently peeled the skin off the orange and bit into it gently, looking around the room at the many different faces.

Lexie's face softened into understanding soon after Remi began. She could tell he didn't want to talk about it, and she didn't mind that. Her features stayed 'happy', even when he asked that question.

"Well..." She sighed softly and laughed quietly. It was always a little hard to explain...but she'd done it so many times. "You see that's what my parents keep me inside for. It's the 'disease I mentioned earlier." She paused, thinking of how to explain the sharp pains. It was so very hard to put into words without mentioning the actual burning. "Well...when I get angry, or nervous...or any extreme emotion, I get this strong, persistent pain in my stomach. I can't get rid of it until I calm down." She shook her head, knowing that was barely even close to what it was. It was the best she could do, though. "My parents...they even feel I should be home schooled...just because of what could happen. I'm a Senior now though...so there's no use in me leaving now. They always pressure me to leave...it gets really old." She sighed again, this time her expression changed again. She held her smile, but her eyes became distant. "I probably won't be going home tonight. I might wind up here, if the janitor will let me." She turned to him, and taking another sip of her smoothie smiled again.

"That's what I used to do at my old school. The janitor there was so funny. He'd always let me sleep on the couch in the counselor's office." She laughed a little. "He'd always come back into the office and talk to me..telling me jokes and stuff. I hope the Janitor here is nice." She shrugged. "It's not that I don't love my parents. I just can't deal with them. I can't go anywhere after being home. At least...not unless I go out the window."

Remi nodded slowly as he popped a few fries into his mouth, chewing while he thought of what to say next. When he finished, all seriousness seemed to be gone as he grinned happily at her, "Alright then. You don't want to go home until later? Come to that night club with me tonight. My parents don't care. They'll be at work then come home to go to sleep. My brother doesn't care what I do either. It might be fun!" He grabbed his smoothie and took a sip of it, then sighed. It did taste so good. He liked them alot. One thing money was a good thing for in this life. "And after school, we can go get a smoothie or something. You may just keep me out of trouble or somethin'." He laughed quietly to himself, glancing over to where he would always sit with his friends. Kayli, who would hang out with them a lot, was glaring at him when he looked over, and he quickly turned back to Lexie.

"So.. how about this..." he looked at Lexie again with lighted eyes, "After school, we can go get a smoothie or something. You go home, and whenever you can, sneak out of your window. I'll come pick you up or something. Small town. Crystal Wave aint far." He took one of the chicken strips that was growing cold, ripped it in half, and bit into it, waiting for Lexie's answer. Of course, if he was out tonight, his parents wouldn't at all be happy. But they shouldn't care; Remi was eighteen now, and although he did live under their roof, they couldn't control what he did with friends. If he said he was going out with a few friends instead of just one they would approve; switch it around, and their eyes would flicker with curiosity. Probably wonder whenever he'd bring home a girl. All the girlfriends Remi had he kept a secret from them. Ethan, his brother knew. His parents found out about some of them though, like Kayli, who was constantly with him those few days. Calling constantly to go out, showing up at his doorstep with her sweet, yellow car. His parents adored her at the time, thinking she would keep him out of trouble. And how wrong they were!

When Remi had broken up with her, instead of calling sweetly, her voice was bitter and cruel. And of course, Remi was the one to get lectured about breaking her heart so quickly. He couldn't help it though, so he just shrugged and said he wouldn't do it again, like he always did. Dissapointed, his parents had left him alone with girls after that. And he tried to keep them more secret. With lexie... well, he wasn't sure how this was going. He'd never really had girls as real 'friends' instead of a real relationship kind of thing. Definitely different.

Lexie smiled and nodded happily. "That sounds so great! I'd love to! Most people call me a creature of the night anyway." She laughed at her own words. It really was true. She could stay out until the sun came up and not be the least bit tired. She loved the night life. Clubs, parties, even just walking the streets with all the beautiful lights from the city. This would be different though. Down here in the country areas. She couldn't wait to see what it was like. She was even more excited to see the stars. She never really got a chance in the city...but out here in the burbs....she'd have no trouble. She smiled warmly at the thought, her face lighting up. She adored the stars.

"So anyway. When do you want to pick me up?" She asked, trying to get her mind straight again. It wandered a lot. That was one thing a lot of people disliked about her. She would always zone off in the middle of a conversation. It's not like she meant to, but she had a strong imagination. She read a lot about mythical creatures, seeing as one lived in her body, and that got her into fantasy. Fantasy...whether it's reading, writing or watching, tends to do that to a person. As she waited for a reply, she smirked playfully and reached across the table, grabbing a couple fries.

"Awesome, then." Remi laughed happily, then stopped to take another logn sip of his smoothie as he contemplated her next question. His brows lifted, and he stopped, but the straw was still in his mouth, hand stopped in midair as he reached for another piece of his lunch. He gulped down the smoothie he had in his mouth slowly, and looked a bit embarrassed. "Uh, I don't have a car or anything. I mean, I know how to drive and all, but I don't have my license." he laughed a bit nervously, even tried to grin, but he was actually quite embarrassed. What senior didn't have their license? Well, by law of his parents, they really didn't want him to have it until after his schooling. But to Remi, he was just too lazy to go and get it. Ethan had taught him to drive of course.

As new idea struck him, "I could have my brother take us, or.." he grinned sheepishly, "I could take one of my family's cars for the night. They'll be asleep, and my brother doens't care what I do." he sighed at the thought, drumming his fingers along his chin as he smiled thinly. Yes, he liked the sound of that, sneaking out at night, taking one of his parents cars or even Ethan's, and taking Lexie out to the nightclub. he could feel the anicipation of the spirit growing within him, calling him into the bursts of freedom. But maybe Lexie wasn't that bad, and didn't want to risk getting into that much trouble. He lowered his eyes over at her, "Unless that's too risky for ya?"

She laughed, and seeing it didn't bother him, took a couple more fries. Before putting them in her mouth she spoke. "Too risky? For me??" She laughed again and stuffed them in her mouth. After chewing she shook her head. "Nothing is too risky for me. Nothing!" She put a little emphasis on the last 'nothing' and smiled. "That is....if you can keep up."

Fae shrugged, a rolling motion that brought to mind feral things, and smiled wryly. "Suit yourself," he said as he carelessly abandoned the school grounds. He certainly seemed accustomed to skipping school - something in the surety with which he walked away even as the second bell rang. Fae chuckled when Sariel used the expression "eat a lamb". "A lamb, huh...?" he asked softly, musing. Fae's eyes slid over to Sariel's now-black ones, curious and knowing at the same time. "I bet you could." Burgers, then, Fae concluded, trying to figure out just what it was about Sariel that seemed so wild. I bet he likes the outdoors... I should ask. But another question took precedence. Besides, it wasn't as though Fae would forget.

"Did you mind the eyes?" Fae asked suddenly, though with a casual grace that made it seem a natural question for the time. He would have liked to just relax and let them be, if Sariel didn't mind. Fae spent so much time keeping them one colour that it was nice to let them change about as they wished - at least, he assumed they were. It wasn't as though he could tell when they did or anything. He's just seen himself in the mirror often enough to know their habits whenever he wasn't paying attention.

They were walking down the street now, small shops and hurrying people on each side. A bakery, a bank and several men in suits whisked by before Fae suddenly stopped short, grabbed Sariel's arm and pulled him into the alleyway to their left. Fae walked several paces into the alley, then moved to stand against the wall there. He tried to pretend he was invisible, that no-one could see him... Something Fae always did when he was hiding. And for some reason, no one ever saw him.

For a moment, it looked as though Fae had simply flicked out of existence, or perhaps became just another inanimate part of the scenery. Either way, he wasn't just pretending to be unseen; he actually was. And moments later, two men in police uniforms passed the entrance to their hidey-hole, talking to each other jovially. Fae watched them pass calmly, then breathed out and stepped from the wall, fully noticeable once again. The dark-haired boy turned to Sariel and grinned, an expression both smooth and wry. "Sorry about that. Didn't want to get caught, and I doubt you'd be jumping for joy about it either," Fae said jokingly, stepping out of the alleyway nonchalantly to continue his way towards breakfast.

The bell rang and something in Sariel seemed to break, his resolve visibly giving way to the more wild side of himself. This boy was real, a person yes, but unlike most he was kind… Curious and kind, something Sariel had not experienced since the birth of Fate.

“What, is that not the right animal?”

It had been a long time since he had heard the expression, however he was trying to play it cool, acting as if his own inside joke was a simple mistake. ‘I bet you could…’ The words rolled through his mind, as cloudy as the smoke from a freshly lit cigarette, was he suggesting something, was this creature already catching on to something?

“Whose eyes?”

Fae was speaking again and Sariel had to shift everything in his will to pay attention, the smell of breakfast was simply overwhelming. The street they were on seemed nicer then the ones closer to his house, the shops small and full of brightly colored items, items that shimmered and glistened like the small treasures he did so enjoy. This was heaven, yet after a moment it was literally yanked away. Sariel felt Fae’s warm hand on his arm, pulling him away from the sunlight and into the dim shadow of a nearby alleyway. He could not contain the small snarl that worked its way from his cherubic lips; the boy was walking against the wall seeming to disappear for a moment, as if he were hiding from him now. Sariel’s body shifted and he turned back towards the sunlight, noticing the two cops and catching on almost immediately.
The boy stayed still for a few seconds, waiting until they passed.

“Thanks… I didn’t mean to snap at you…”

Sariel followed Fae with a small sigh, if he was lucky come nightfall he would be able to be himself; perhaps even take a trip to the woods. It had been such a long time since hhe had the chance to be who he really was.
