Yeah. Faeries have to be careful, though. Like other supernatural creatures, there are some heavy politics involved. If you would like a better explanation of this, I'd suggest you read the fictional book Tithe: A Modern Fairytale. My gawd, that's an awesome book. I love it!

Vampires are good... I guess... Either way, you'll get to see a little of all throughout the entire chronicle.

This is what a sample of play may look like; however, this one is more dramatic that most, considering that the guy gets mowed down by a car and such... biggrin SET I'm using the Glock 9mm, my Dexterity is 3, and my Firearms is 2. That calls for a total dice pool of 7. However, the bad guy is at a medium distance (about 30 yrds), and it's raining heavily, plus, there's poor lighting in the area. That imposes a minus 3 penalty. That leaves my dice pool at 4. Now, I roll... SET [[Only one success... damn...]] Damn. The bullet hits the man in his arm--he stumbles a little, but manages to make it around the corner of a building. What will I do next? Looking around for some options, I see a car heading down the street. Ah, that's my option. Dashing in front of the vehicle, it skids to a stop. I run over to the driver's side, yank the door open, and pull him out. He kicks at me, but I merely toss him in the street before taking off after the bad guy. Coming around the corner, I spot, holding his arm like a little kid from a biking accident. Putting the pedal on the floor, I decide to run his sorry a** over. [[Okay, here we go. I'm driving a compact car with Durability 3, Size 9, Structure 12 and Handling 3. My Dexterity is 3 and my Drive 1. The dice pool to make contact with the bad guy starts with 7 dice (Dex+Handle+Drive). The bad guy is on foot, but doesn't notice the car coming his way. (Normally, I'd allow him to have a Spot/Listen check, but for the purpose of moving the story along, I won't.) Since the bad guy doesn't notice that he's about to be mowed, no dice are subtracted from the pool, leaving is at 7. Now, I roll...]] SET [[Two successes!]] The car makes contact... [[Now, it's time to determine damage from the collision. The car's Size is 9, so that number of dice is rolled, with one bonus die for every 10 mph (14 yrds per turn) that I was traveling. In this case, I was going 40 mph, so that's a +4 to the dice pool. The bad guy has no armor, so no dice are subtracted. Now, time to roll...]] SET [[Only two successes. I was hoping for more...]] The car smashes into the man, and he rolls over and off the hood, landing on the concrete sidewalk with a thud. He's bleeding badly now, probably has a few broken bones, too, but he still manages to sit up, ready to limp away. On the other hand, my car smashes into a store front, shattering glass into a million flying pebbles. The front of my car totals, and the engine dies completely. I can hear the sizzle and smoke of dead machinery, and I look up just as the man is limping away. Unbuckling my seat belt, I step out of the car, aim my Glock one more time, and shoot off what I hope is the last bullet I'll need tonight... [[Time to roll one more time (hopefully... (I'll use the same formula as before in my first post, which will leave me with a dice pool of 4...]] SET [[Two successes again!!~ Yay!~~]] With my final bullet, it pierces the back of his skull. He falls to the cement like a wet sack of rotten meat, and a dull plop follows. I scan the surroundings quickly, looking for any bystanders that I might have to pick off, but I see none. Before I crowd draws towards the commotion, I disappear into the shadows and head back to my apartment in the Bronx where I'll wait for my next assignment...

Versi Crestfold Nevareh I didn't pick Promethian because I have no idea what that is.
Extremely offbeat WoD games: Mummy: The Ressurection. These are games whose internal plots routinely take thousands of years because your characters live forever. Wraith: The Oblivion. Who likes such amazingly depressing material that no matter what you do, you lose? Hunter: The Recknoning. Like Mage, you're pretty frail and considered to be insane (or at least incredibly cocky). Unlike Mage, you never STOP being frail and you get stronger by being MORE insane (or more ridiculously self-confident). Mage: The Ascension (Technocracy): You're one of the rulers of the world, and what do you do with it? Balance the budget and go to meetings, usually. Fun!
Personally, I'd love to join an Orpheus game, but I've never seen one played. Orpheus: You're a spirit-detective employed by a corporation, and your job description is to throw your soul out of your body and solve problems in the afterlife. Strange combo of office politics, spirit wrangling, having co-workers who are literally deceased, and a very strong, well-written metaplot. One of the only games I've ever seen where being dead isn't an excuse to be late to work. Promethean is a deceased body infused with Divine Fire, instead of a soul-basically.
Those don't really sound fun sweatdrop They seem to limit what type of creature/character you can be, only allowing for one type of person to be seen through the whole Rp. Though, I've never done this before so I'm probably wrong.
The World of Darkness is the setting- each one of those games takes place in the World of Darkness, and they are merely different rules for how you're supposed to go about being a supernatural entity.
Every kind of supernatural being runs the gamut, though in old World of Darkness there are several types of supernatural being (like Vampires) where your powers are tied directly to who you are and what your politics are. If you're a Vampire and you like the Followers of Set clan powers, then you're going to fall into one of the Followers of Set archetypes and follow the Followers of Set clan agenda. Admittedly, some clans (such as Gangrel, Brujah, and Malkavian) have very loose definitions of "Clan agenda" (One has almost no internal structure of association with its members, the next can't agree on anything but all agree it has to be done, and the third is just batpoo crazy as a rule), but you probably won't find yourself being a bookish occultist member of clan Toreador or a bruiser of clan Ventrue, and you also will probably not have any reason, whatsoever, to disagree with the overall goal of the clan. I like the new WoD way, better, where your clan (your vampiric "type") has nothing to do with your Covenant (your political faction).
Another reason I like Mage: Your powers (Or in this case, Spheres) and your philosophy (Tradition or Convention) are generally disconnected. World of Darkness is, in general, not very restricting once you enter the framework.

There are only little things in there that I may or may not have a problem with when I play, but We'll find out after I'm dead[<--Char. story hint?]. confused
Nevareh: So they're just kind of like guidelines, on how you should play your character, right? [I should probably buy Promethean: The Creation then shouldn't I?] Do all character's have a political faction[Question is to Anyone] or is it only that some do? [Sorry I'm asking so many questions-I just like to get things straight before I do them.]
[[P.S. I'm going away for 3 days to Otakon, see you then.]]

[[P.S. I'm going away for 3 days to Otakon, see you then.]] Yes, all characters have political factions; however, Prometheans do not. It seems that they aren't tied to ancient lineages (in a political sense...) Vampire, Werewolves, and (especially) Mages are, though. Luckily, everything has been remastered with NWoD. I've read into OWoD, and my goodness, how did people put up with that? Fortunately, as well, White Wolf decided to give all the core rulebooks a common core system. Therefore, everything can be easily integrated into one campaign without much hassle. But still... the politics... the politics...

Sorry. I didnt' mean for it to seem so complicated, but you don't have to calculate everything--that's my job! So, just sit back, relax, and I'll tell you what to do (when necessary) while you explore the dark world that may eat your mind alive! Mwahahahahaha!
