"We're doing fine. Ash loves the open sea and I haven't been seabound since I was a kid. Back on the lumber farm, I had to follow the cutters overseas to bring lumber to the shipyards on the southern riverbanks. Anyways, this has been a lot of fun for the most part" He smiled some.
Ash crept along the floor and giggled when his head peeked out the rails. "Daddy, when are we going to get there? I wanna play in the bushes" He asked, a curious rat in need of adventure and exploration. "Easy, Ash. We'll get there soon" He crossed his arms and frowned some. "I...left Illyana below. The crystallaureate is difficult to understand...and my Tellbook still hasn't recovered its power." He sighed some, rubbing his eyes.
"I want to talk to Valleldia so much and ask so many questions but I just can't bring myself to bother her. I am still so unfamiliar with the ways of the Meij and Gypsy Livelihood. Besides, Ash being here and Axel joining us has made it a lot easier" He smiled at the little boy and looked high at his Banya perched on the mast.

Sizzla Irina took the Corphori's arm gratefully as he helped her from the deck. "Thank you sir," she said, only slightly wary of the gruff voice that accompanied the sweaty man. "It's no problem. I know you didn't mean it," she smiled. "And yes, there are quite a few children, aren't there?" she said with a laugh. "They seem to all be okay."
She turned to check on Kal and Eerie, who were now looking curiously at Tafari. They hadn't really met officially yet. Last time they had been close enough to chat, Kal was still an infant, unable to get around on her own, let alone talk.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Rosyoia," Irina said, looking at the woolen hat atop his head. "Have you been on the ferry before?"As Kal steadied her brother, she let go of one hand, allowing him to do more of the work on his own. She then turned to Tafari and waved cheerfully. "Heywo!" she said, giving him a grin. He was quite interesting looking.Eerie just stared quietly. He looked down at his own hooved feet, and then to Tafari's. He couldn't help but wonder why his bottom half didn't look like his animal form, like this child's did. "No, no," he answered, a gruff growl. "water make me... tippy on feet." It was strange word, coming from such a deep voice. It felt out of place, like a bit of ribbon tied onto a bullet. "Where from... children?" He wobbled back. Whether it was from surprise at the sight of the strange, half-animal children, or from the unsteady deck, not even he knew.

M i s s a Kale happily absorbed the compliment. He nodded at each of the other women with his trademark grin, before turning to Grendenla. It was a difficult inquiry to answer. The fox certainly didn't know how to explain the mysteries of the meij to women who weren'teven gypies. He wasn't close to fathoming it himself.
He shuffled on his feet a little as he said, "Well, ma'am, I was a candle when my mama found me, then I was a fox, then I was a baby, then I was a candle again....now I'm just bigger and.. on fire." Kale paused. "I'm a Fortunette." He grinned. "A Fortunette?" The flatter syllables were almost lost in the squeak of her pitch, "And a candle, and a fox. What a surprising thing." She looked back at her sister and companion, and said something even more high-pitched in her language. "Where is your mother, little Kale the candlefox boy?"

Elysia Kavanagh Lorelei canted her head a little. "I've been thinking the same thing. Compared to even the not-so-cryptic fortunes from Aleysius, Fen's was... very obvious. Maybe we're missing something important?"
She hummed a little, reaching over to stroke Vanna's hair, thinking. "... I just can't think of another meaning..." Leax put his hand idly on Lorelei's leg, making soft, nearly unconscious circles with the tips of his square, dark fingers. "You don't know what else it might mean?... Did... did you and Vanna have anyone else... here? Before me, I mean?"

Taniel Ansterh Taniel laughed, amiably, his smile still sweet. "Why, thank you! I don't believe I've ever received so sweet a compliment from such a lovely young lady."
He glanced up at the approaching mother, trying to convey that he didn't at all mind being 'bothered'. He hoped she wouldn't reproach her daughter too much. "Lelaia Chiljob, why are you harassing this man?" Lelaia's mother came in, a tall, lithe line with her second redheaded daughter at her side. The second girl gave her sister a knowing smile, as if to say her turn was next, but Lelaia stood her ground. "I'm not harassing him. He just said I said something sweet." She looked over her shoulder at Taniel with wide eyes.

"Well, Valelldia will be around tonight- if you want to go to her wagon. Or, maybe there's something I can answer?" She was still new, at least- somewhat- but there was more and more she was getting comfortable with knowing- and explaining.

Oqaia "No, no," he answered, a gruff growl. Irina nodded her head. "Yes, I suppose the rocking of the boat could knock anyone off their feet," she said with a smile. "You'll just have to get your sea legs."
When he asked her about the children, she wasn't quite sure what to say. Some people were friendly to the gypsies and their magical children, while others...well, they weren't as friendly. "Well, they're called Fortunettes. They're children of the meiji--gypsy magic," she explained, uncertain of his reaction, and if she should explain more about how they were actually born.
"This one though," she said, patting her large belly. "This one is an immaculate conception." She blushed, glad she had explained she hadn't just gotten knocked up one day thanks to some random man.

"I understand. I want to ask her what I need to do on the Island to help Illyana." He tilted his head some and looked down at Ash. "And what I need to do to take care of Ash. This lifestyle excites him and I know he wants to be a part of it...so I want to learn how to make that happen by becoming part of it." He nodded.

Sighing with relief and nodding vigorously as Irina conveyed that nothing appeared to have been damaged or broken in the fall, Mirela, aiding the Corphori, helped the expectant mother to her feet. “It’s lovely to meet you Rosyoia. My name is Mirela, and this is my son Tafari –“ the young woman explained, gesturing to the ‘taur child peeking around her legs – “and Irina’s right, it’s no problem” Mirela echoed, smiling kindly despite being confused as to why Rosyoia was extending his apology beyond Irina.
Still clutching tightly to his mother’s skirts, Tafari returned Kalpana’s exuberant greeting with a shy wave of his free hand; the action causing the doll within his grip to bounce merrily in unison with his gesture.
Allowing her attention to wander to Tafari and the other children as Irina and Rosyoia conversed, Mirela noticed the hesitant greeting returned by her son – causing her to scowl playfully and offer Tafari a gentle push on the rump. “Go on honey, they won’t bite” Mirela uttered in soft support, crinkling her nose in amusement at the indignant look upon Tafari’s face.
Cautiously, his arms extended to his sides to assist with balance, Tafari stepped forward; cloven hooves tapping a steady rhythm against the wooden deck of the ferry. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the centaur infant came to an unsteady halt before Kalpana and Eerie. “Hey…wo..?” Tafari mimicked uncertainly, regarding his fellow toddlers with openly curious expressions.
Smiling to herself as she watched the children interact, Mirela’s countenance assumed a guarded expression as Rosyoia line of conversation turned toward the children. Like Irina, Mirela was aware that many people didn’t take kindly to gypsies and their Fortunette children by extension, and was thus wary of revealing too much about their unique circumstances and situations. Content with Irina’s brief yet informative explanation, Mirela was quick to change the conversation, interjecting – “Do you have business in the Neried Isle?”

Kale looked curiously between the three women. "What was that you just said?" he asked. "You said words I've never heard. What do they mean?" As for his mother, he craned his head around to look behind him. Marissa had her back turned and was holding her book in front of her face, reading. "That's my mama," he said, pointing to her form.

Valelldia Sets was the only one of the group not to scream at the small growl. Setsuz actually came a step closer. Ixlj called out to Sets. "For Savior's sake, Sets, don't go any closer! Do you want to die?!" Sets looked back towards the companions. "I don't think it wants to hurt me. It looks like something I saw in a dream once." The others paled as Sets went ever closer. Tentively, Sindri reached out his face with another small warning growl. Remember! I have claws! He was curious but this kitty wasn't going to be killed by that, thankyouverymuch. He just wanted to catch Sets scent again. Odd little people...intriguing... He had many questions about these people but couldn't work them out on scent alone. A pity his mother was busy with the other humans. A pity no one but Kala had a chance of understanding cat.
