I think it's a good thing because it informs you that you're alive.
And it sucks if you get badly injured and the nerves die and your arm (or wherever) is numb. You could cut it, not know - and be in danger or blood loss or something. (Of course you'd realize when everything is red.)

I hate pain because it hurts x.x
But at the same time, it warns us. We know it'll hurt if we do something like it again.
And I see Fairy's Point too (^^)
Without pain, we wouldn't realise we've injured ourselves and could die O.o

its a curse
but then again i haves to agree it does indicate alot of things and if you didnt hurt then how would you know when enough is enough or someones violating you?

Without emotional pain how would you know when you are really happy? Without bodily pain how can you understand the love someone gives you when they are helping you? That and doctors would beout of a job almost XD.

It would be better if we were able to turn off pain at times. Like when going to the dentist xD

The second I saw the subject I thought of Criss Angel. He is a great example to use for something like this.
One of his sayings is that when the mind, body, and spirit work together, anything is possible. Like getting rid of your pain. If you've ever seen his Body Suspension episode, you'd understand. Or even his Steamroller or Screwed episodes.
For me, I'm not really sure if pain is a blessing or a curse. I go through a lot of pain each day with Crohn's disease. So right there I say it's a curse. But yeah, it can be a blessing. Like someone else said, it can warn you if something bad is happening.

I say pain is a blessing.
I mean pain makes you feel alive.
Everytime you get hurt, you get a feeling of knowing that your still alive.
