"Close your eyes."

It was usually easier to sleep with your eyes closed, wasn't it? Lexaeus kept dampening the fur on Demyx's face with the cloth, occasionally dipping it in the water and wringing it out to keep it moist.

"I mean it Lexy...I already slept, I don't think I can sleep anymore right now..."

But, he'd at least humor is caretaker and try. Besides, it was easier to relax under the cloth strokes if his eye were shut.

"Relax."

If Demyx wouldn't sleep, hopefully he would be able to stay in bed and enjoy the attention. Unfortunately Lexaeus knew the musician usually had more than enough energy to spare, and what seemed like a smaller and smaller attention span as the amount of energy needing to be burned off became larger. If Demyx got bored, he would be up and moving unless Lexaeus managed to entertain him enough to keep him in bed.

Demyx shifted a bit underneath his blankets, but settled down again soon.

"...T-think you could read me a story later Lexy? Eh..heh..."

Yeah...second in command wanting a story was probably rather odd. But damnit Vexen always told such horrible stories, and Luxord's were usually confusing...

Lexaeus' expression barely changed as he glanced around the room. Finding what he was looking for, he set the cloth down next to the bowl of water and stood to fetch what he thought was a story book. Since Demyx had said later, he set the book down on the nightstand and resumed dabbing the small angelic's face with the cloth.

That done, Demyx tried to be good and remain still on the bed. Still, he was bound to grow restless, and every now and again the youth squirmed a bit to get into a more comfortable position.

Lexaeus told himself he was getting too close to the situation to handle it effectively. Every time Demyx shifted he was afraid the little one would bounce up and claim he was too full of energy to rest and get better. That would be simply catastrophic.

He kept the musician's face damp though, only pausing when the little one squirmed.

"Lexy...I'm bored..."

Ears flat, the sitarist propped himself up with pillows and eyed the other.

For a minute Lexaeus was sure the end of the world was imminent, but then he reminded himself it was only Demyx.

"Read."

The giant abruptly handed Demyx the book.

"Huh?...But...you're supposed to read, silly!"

Giggling, the boy stuffed the book back into Lex's oversized paws.

Lexaeus paused, and then slowly opened the book.

"Once upon a time, there was a mouse."

He paused again. The next sentence made no sense at all. Not logically at least, it said the little mouse lived on Flower Boulevard and made a living sewing little waistcoats. That was just silly.

Demyx grinned and tried to peer inside the book to see if there were any pictures. He liked pictures... Such a move was interrupted however, by a sudden fit of coughing from the boy. When he finally stopped, the young sitarist took a few gulps of air and blinked at Lexaeus with flattened ears.

"er...sorry for interrupting...."

Lexaeus pressed one paw against Demyx's forehead, and was dismayed to note that he still had a fever.

"Rest."

He gently pushed Demyx back against the pillows, and tilted the book so the little one could see the illustration of the silly waistcoat-sewing mouse.

Demyx whined as he was pushed back and started coughing again. Once that was done, the sitarist let himself eye the book.

"Awhh...the mouse has little clothes!"

The cough was definitely not helping Demyx rest, but that wasn't something Lexaeus could help on his own. After a bit of silent thought, he remembered that Marluxia tended a significant-sized garden that contained several herbs with medicinal properties. Maybe there was something that would help Demyx rest.

"I will return." He said simply, standing and handing Demyx the book so he could entertain himself.
