Hmm...perhaps both forms are acceptable?

Anyhow, you're probably correct. You seem like you know your stuff.

Forgive me if I was spewing out the wrong thing. I've only been learning Japanese for one school year. And thus far, I've only gone by what I've been taught in school.

I've never done much cross-referencing via the web and anime.

Heh. >_< I only took it for about five months.
But I was taught a bit on the web and some from anime (also a good way to check what you've learnt against what they generally use, since you're always taught the more formal language).
I also have friends who taught me some Japanese. And a little bit from karate, which I also only took for a couple of months.
I never stick with anything. -_-;

'Hajime mashite [name] desu' is commonly used in anime. =)
You just missed off the desu.

It's not "arigatto"
it's "arigatou".

Thank you Miku. I knew there was something wrong with it. Romaji never has double 'T's.

Well...yes, I've been with this family even when I didn't come on Gaia. But that wasn't very often and...Well, I never stick with anything else.

You mean like
Person 1: Blahblahblahblah -talks really fast-
Person 2: What?

It's vad. And remember to read the letters if it was Japanese! >w<

And the 'vad' also works like the 'what' in "What are you doing?"

The 'a' isn't really like the Japanese 'a' but... people would understand. And foreigners often have troubles with it.

なに?

Kore wa nan desuka?
I don't really remember what that means but I think it is "What is this?"
because I think "kore" is "This one right here".

I don't understand what you wrote about saying it, but I'll be typing it mostly.

While 'what' in Japanese in sentences is usually 'nan', I think it must be 'nani' outside them, since most people know that. And I'm pretty sure it's what they say in anime. Could, of course, be a 'slang' version of 'what is it?'.

Kore, are and...I've forgotten the other one, but yeah, I think you're right, that kore is 'this one next to me', as opposed to 'that one next to you' or 'that one way over there, not next to either of us'. XP
Silly Japanese-English translations.
