Some information on Martha in Series 2 biggrin

Quote:
Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) is back and reunited with Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) when she teams up with Torchwood (BBC Two) to help them solve a series of mysterious deaths in Cardiff.

Pictured here as she steps into the Hub for the first time, a more grown up and worldly-wise Martha brings her medical knowledge and the expertise learnt during her travels with The Doctor to help Torchwood do battle against an alien threat.

Freema Agyeman says: "Martha has grown up a lot since Doctor Who. She's now a fully qualified doctor and a bit hardened by life experiences. When she finds out that Captain Jack needs her help, she joins Torchwood for a while. She continues to develop her knowledge of alien intelligence, but this time keeping her feet on the ground.

"These will be invaluable skills to take back with her on future adventures with The Doctor. She outgrew The Doctor, in a sense, and so the next time they meet it will be in a more professional capacity. I'm so proud of her journey and who she has become.

"And for me as an actress, it's a great new challenge to be able to broaden and expand Martha as she develops in other directions for this more adult series. The Torchwood team are fabulous to work with and have made me very welcome."

Creator of Torchwood, Russell T Davies says: "Freema is a wonderful actress and we want to give her the chance to add another dimension to Martha. She is going to cause some waves in the team – especially as she joins Torchwood at a point when everything is going to change for one of them."

Freema is one of many special guest stars appearing in the new series of Torchwood. Richard Briers is the latest to join the line-up, playing Parker, a reclusive millionaire who is the keeper of alien secrets, much later in the series. Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, Lost) and James Marsters (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) have also been confirmed.

The second series of Torchwood begins on BBC Two in the New Year and Martha will be starring half way through the series, appearing in three episodes.

Torchwood is executive produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner, Head of Drama BBC Wales. The producer is Richard Stokes and the series is filmed in Cardiff.

Whoo, a new Press Release! Some MORE Torchwood news, although it's not much new. We find out that Captain John and Captain Jack go way back, possibly both Time Agents. They get glimpses of the first world war and the 51st Century (can someone remind me, what episode recently did they go to the 51st century? I know it's important ...)

Quote:
Torchwood, the award-winning drama created by Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, bursts back on our screens in mid-January 2008, this time premiering on BBC Two.

And this time it's bigger and bolder with more fun, adventure and excitement for the alien-fighting team...

Captain Jack Harness (John Barrowman), Gwen (Eve Myles), Owen (Burn Gorman), Toshiko (Naoko Mori) and Ianto (Gareth Lloyd-Davies) return as the investigators delving into the alien underworld of modern day Cardiff.

In response to audience demand, younger fans will now have the opportunity of watching a specially edited pre-watershed repeat.

Roly Keating, Controller BBC Two, says: "We're delighted that Torchwood is joining BBC Two.

"We know from the success and popularity of Heroes that there's a growing appetite for smart, high-quality, sci-fi drama on the channel so Torchwood is a perfect fit.

"I'm also pleased to announce that, due to popular demand from families and younger viewers, we will be showing a special pre-watershed repeat so everyone can enjoy the new series."

Making a special guest appearance in the first episode is James Marsters as Captain John. He starred as Spike, the punk-goth vampire in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Captain John and Captain Jack go way back and have "history".

When he appears through the Rift under Cardiff looking for Captain Jack not only does he disrupt Captain Jack's homecoming but the whole team, city and world are suddenly placed in danger.

The new series promises an exhilarating mixture of adventure, heartbreak, humour and surprise and pushes the team's resolve and friendships as never before.

Firmly rooted in urban life of 21st century Cardiff, Torchwood's investigations into alien activity give the team glimpses of the 51st Century and the First World War.

They encounter alien sleeper cells; save a stranded creature from human exploitation; meet a tragic soldier from the First World War; and encounter a memory thief who exposes long-forgotten secrets among the entire team.

During the run Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, The O.C, Lost and The West Wing) makes a star appearance.

Another familiar face among the special guest stars is Doctor Who's companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) who appears half way through the series.

Richard Briers, Nerys Hughes and Ruth Jones (Gavin And Stacey) also appear in various roles.

Russell T Davies says: "This series pushes the Torchwood team further than ever before. They are joined by some incredible guest stars who are really going to cause waves. It's adventurous, thrilling and packed full of surprises."

Torchwood, which was shot in HD and will also be shown on the BBC HD channel, is filmed in and around Cardiff by BBC Wales.

BBC Wales Controller Menna Richards says: "The first series of Torchwood was a huge hit with audiences. We're extremely proud that it's produced in Wales.

"And its success is a reflection of the huge wealth of talent and creativity that exists here.

"We're delighted that it's returning to our screens for another series full of action, humour and excitement."

The 13-part series is written by Chris Chibnall, Phil Ford, Peter J Hammond, Matt Jones, Joseph Lidster, James Moran, Helen Raynor, Catherine Tregenna and JC Wilsher.

Created by Davies, with Chris Chibnall as co-producer and lead writer, the first series which aired on BBC Three last year achieved the channel's highest ratings in 2006, with an audience of 2.5 million for the first episode, and peaking at 2.8 million.

There will be a new exciting online reality game and exclusive behind the scenes footage on bbc.co.uk/torchwood.

If anyone watched Heroes last night (Old finale, bah, after series 2 finished ...) they might have seen a special little trailer xd It featured Peter Petrelli's phone call with Hiro, Saying Hiro is the guy from the future, but he's talking to Jack, and Jack is a guy from the future xd So like ... well, Peter isn't talking to Jack and they didn't film it specially, apart from maybe Jack's part. IT says "The Heroics continue, January 2007 on BBC2" or something like that. Quite lulz worthy.

My dad came home with all of series two on his memory stick the other day. (Yay! For his sci-fi/film geek work friend. I've never met the guy, but he's still the best person there. He was Spud Trooper and Optimash Prime on his desk) Although, I wasn't too happy because that was on Tuesday, so I still couldn't watch it 'cause I hadn't seen the finale, and it would have made no sense.

That video's pretty cool. I'm not quite sure how I missed it, but oh well.

And yay! Websites back! That picture looks really..clean. I don't really know how else to describe it.

We all need to apply to Torchwood!

I know, that made me laugh as well. Good thing is, by the time they get round to the third series when the scriptwriter's strike ends, I'll have caught up, so I won't have to wait like all the people in my class.

Mind you, they probably won't be as bothered as I would be to have to wait, seeing as they watch it for the hot actors, not the story line (a lot like why they watch Doctor Who really. I've had many a conversation going along the lines of: 'Do you watch Doctor Who?' 'Yeh, why?' 'David Tennant's hot, ain't he?')

Catherine Tregenna should be put in charge of writing any overly emotional episodes. The two she did write for Series 1 were the ones that made me cry. Dx

Isn't the first episode Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang?
PostPosted: Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:00 am

That's from drwho-online.co.uk, and they got it out of Doctor Who Magazine. I'm getting the magazine tomorrow and I'll check, but the Wiki says it's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang xd

And yeah, those two episodes were good biggrin (gay kissing FTW xd )

I need to get out more, the last person I kissed was my best friend. D:
