It's because I donated for this item myself instead of buying off of someone else. Either that, or it's some sort of hovering technology that tracts the user's head and follows accordingly. One of 'em.

Allright, let's just say that I have the ability to make things levitate and I set this thing to hover above my head automatically until I make a mental command for it to come off, which explains why I'm able to take it off and put it back on.
