I dont particularly care for lefthanded things because its quite sloppy but............
remember that cheagle? The original cheagle in that lab? Asch was worried!

Hm, I don't really think it was sloppily done. If anything, I think the whole Luke-being-left-handed-and-Asch-being-right-handed bit was a near major thing, what with that pre-ending scene (the one where everyone were saying their goodbyes to Luke) and all. Remember when Jade moved to shake hands with Luke then? Luke nearly reciprocated with a right-hand shake to Jade's extended left hand before realizing the mistake and using his left-hand to seal the gesture.
Well that... or I could be reading too much in that scene.

This is another reason why I believe it's Luke at the end of the game. The weapon is placed for the left hand side.
