*gets poked* Eeep! Suma-Kaur wow this is soooo detailed Berz! Such a cool imagination how long have you been creating ur world. Thanks! I've been working on this world off and on since high school, so around a decade, now. It has only existed in its current, non-crappy and non-derivative-of-other-stuff form for about three or four years. Berz.

Good for you Berz! How exactly do you go about when creating something? I mean, when I did, I usually try to set aside some time specifically for that and, just try and see what things would be like on a certain location.

i think what i like about world building is that you have so many things you can do with it and take it within numerous directions. Its also really cool to have other friends that are writers as well.

*gets poked again* Eeep! Quote: Good for you Berz! How exactly do you go about when creating something? I mean, when I did, I usually try to set aside some time specifically for that and, just try and see what things would be like on a certain location. I'm not really sure if I can describe the way I went about it. It started as a means of telling a story, really. I had a number of plot-bunnies that needed to be stitched together. From there, I got an idea of how the world worked and then it just... I dunno... went. The next thing I knew I was drawing a map of the continent. Lathuria came about more by an accident of an over-active imagination than by any kind of planned process. There are ways in which it has both benefited and suffered from the lack of a plan. Berz. EDIT: Why have the quote tags stopped working right?

Since when has Gaia not had a glitch of some kind Berz? XD! I've been on the site five years now and every time I log on there's at least a few glitches going on somewhere.
There's one in particular that's happening with me at the moment (and it's probably happening to other people as well and most of them are likely to be taking advantage of it - I'm being a good girl about it). A mod has asked me to not talk about it because it'd be me spreading the idea around so other people would be able to see if they've got the same thing going on.
ANYWAY!
I've been working on my world since I was roughly 14. I keep intending to further the history of the world and continue with my maps, but for some reason I either never find the time, or can't be arse when I do. I need to break out of that vicious circle...I need to get these things done.
The other thing is my plot. I'm trying to introduce that really tall wicked looking sexy woman I posted an extract about, and that particular extract doesn't fit with where she is. So, I've tried a few other options and it's still proving to be a right pain in the arse. I need a really cool entrance for her, because she's pretty much my favourite character (I wanted to say that LS is, or KA...but...damn, most of the guys I have so far are the sort I would........do rather inappropriate things to). MK (the woman I've just been rambling about) is pretty much who I want to be - she was modelled from my darker and more reclusive side.

He-he, Gaia always has some kind of glitch, huh?
That's so cool Mel! I mean, 14 years of age and you started to create all the stuff you have now? Don't you look back at some of the things you created and go: Gee, this really needs a tune up. I've gone like that quite a few times myself. mrgreen I gotta say, I've rarely had to do that when it comes to the actual geography of my worlds. I'm pretty happy with the rough sketches I've made. Since I ain't so good at drawing, I don't like to make too many either.

Yes, I do think that some things need altering once in a while. I'm having chapter 2 plot gremlins at the moment. I haven't been able to continue in a week to a week and a half because of it. Grrr! evil

Oh, those pesky plot gremlins (though, I typically call them plot bunnies, since that was the first term I heard for it). I have them constantly and it gives my writing process a bit of an ADD feel. I'll be merrily working on one piece and then get bitten by another plot bunny and lose all interest.
It feels a lot like "oooh! Shiney thing!"
Berz.

Hmm, you know Mel, you might just need some kind of awesome inspiration from something. What!? Don't look at me, I think inspiration can come from anywhere at any time so it's tricky.
But gee, isn't it interesting that Mel calls them gremlins and Berz calls them bunnies? I had no term for that frankly cuz I just usually refer to it as writer's block. I don't have any right now. What I've had is lack of time... rolleyes

I thought plot bunnies sounded like nice beings. Bunnies are usually cute, fluffy and cuddly (apart from the grunnies on here of course). Gremlins are even little bastards, so that's why I called them plot gremlines. I thought plot bunnies would have helped.
Now I'm reminded of the Labyrinth... *Fairy bites Sarah* Sarah: "Ow! It bit me." Hoggle: "What did you expect fairies to do?" Sarah: "I thought they did nice things, like granting wishes." Hoggle: "Hmph, shows what you know."
I've watched that film so many times! xd

He-he, that sounds about right.
Ah yes, the Labyrinth... wasn't David Bowie on that movie somewhere? I barely watched that movie about two times, I think. I would have watched it more times but I didn't get a chance to. And now I haven't seen it on any movie channel here at all. I wonder why...
BTW, is it just me or the story about that movie about some kids who wonder into a different world or dimension and have to find a way back? Cuz it seems to me they start on earth but get transported to the world of Labyrinth, right? I wonder how they created that world, if it IS a world anyway... mrgreen
