I am Pretty Shure that the Time Lords are coming back. Because they have an episode called 'Last of the Time lords'. And that sortive screams "THE TIME LORDS ARE COMING THE TIME LORDS ARE COMING." Well to me it dose I am pretty shure Russel has relised that he has to bring the Time Lords back soon If not the seires might not last. And about his Son Taking on the Title of the Doctor. Wouldent the Make some sort of Time Paradox or something in the world of Doctor Who. Maybe have his son give him half of his regerations or something that would be kool Or maby the White Gardiun ( From the Tom Baker Era) Will give him some regerations he has the Ability.

Ok well after this weeks episode...
Spoilers
I think with the Return of the Master it is pretty obvious that there is some way to fix the 13th life problem? I mean... didn't he last die on his 13th life? Or am I mistaken? I haven't watched the whole classic series yet, will take forever lol.
Edit by Ceribri: GAH! Spoilers! Out in the open like that! You really need to be careful with that sort of information. -_-

Way back in the 4th Doctor's era the Master had become a horrible rotted-looking thing, just hanging onto life with sheer vicious determination. He got the power to take over another person's body on Traken & took the body of Nyssa's father. This was NOT a Gallifreyan body, so ever since then he has had the mind of a Time Lord but not physically been one. This body would not regenerate so he still needed to find another way to extend his life further. His search for such power took him to the world of the Cheetah People eventually, in the last story of the classic series. The power he found there was just taking him over and making him animal-like, though. Next we see him is in the TV-Movie, & evidently he's been continuing to mess with his body trying to extend his life, because by then he's nothing but a gross blob of goo that is capable of possessing new bodies. That body got destroyed at the end of the movie, but of course anybody who has read many comics or watched many series of this sort knows the hero's nemesis always returns somehow....

if the time lords were the ones who inflicted the 12 regeneration rule in the first place....and now they're gone....so I think he might be immortal...

Well there is also the plotline from the Macoy erea that was trying to say that the Doctor was the re incarnation of the first time lord (name escapes me) but that never got finished due to series cancelation. This being the case, all bets are off as to the doctors abilities, plus they havent once mentioned the 13 lives in the latest series. They could just do away with them all together.

Well, they really couldn't, 'cos we all know. I'd feel rather wrong-footed if Thirteen just regenerated casual as you please, and no one said anything about it.

I think the character was called "the other". the other, omega, and rassilon where like the founding fathers of time lord society

Maybe they could find some way for the 13th Doctor to possess Captain Jack's immortal body (like the Master in Keeper of Traken). Then we'd never have to worry about the issue ever again.
((...except that the BBC would have to sign John Barrowman to play the Doctor for life. And pump him full of botox to keep him looking young.))

Well, we know they've probably changed some things about the old continuity for the new series. Spoilers follow.
Okay, so the Master is back. And obviously a Time Lord, and obviously regenerating. "Mister Saxon" is also an anagram of "Master No. Six". So my theory is that this new Master is officially considered the sixth Master, and they've retconned the part about him dying on his thirteenth life. Which is simple enough - the other versions of the Master could be changed into other regenerations instead of the weird possession or whatever. And he IS the sixth Master as far as canon versions of the character go.
Now, this could mean nothing for the Doctor's thirteenth life, except that maybe by retconning the Master's "death", they've retconned the limit of thirteen. Or they could have something in mind on how that limit no longer applies for whatever reason (maybe because he, and now the Master, are the last of the Time Lords). There are a lot of possibilities...
