Actually, Digimon has been around a lot longer then Pokemon.

Digimon started out as just a brand of Gigapet
(pocketpet/virtual pet)

I remember having one, you connected them to battle =)
Then they turned into a tv show after pokemon came out.

Anyways, I gotta go with Pokemon..only the firs 250 or 350...after that it just got stupid because pretty much all the monsters are becoming less imaginative..plus they start making pokemon that shouldnt be able to evolve evolve.
