Coral saw them and nodded. "Oh, I see." She then walked over to a branch she could reach and began to pick a few. They were rather big, or was it because she was a child? Either way she would need Debi's help taking them back.
"Here hold these, please." She told the toddler and handed her a few.

Debi smiled, laughing. Coral was getting it! Her papa always let her carry some. She held the fruit cradled between her arms and her body, and waited impatiently for Coral to finish picking.
"Heavy!" she complained, though she didn't sound too upset.

Coral smiled, "Okay, that's good then." Or at least she figured that must have been good enough. Then again, she picked up a few more for herself to carry. In case more was needed.
"Let's go back then!"

Debi struggled to keep up with Coral, and her face was a study in concentration as she juggled the load of fruit in her arms.
Aoaka looked up as they approached, and smiled. "Good job! I think you've got more than enough, but it will keep. You can set it down over there... thank you both," he said, and pointed to where he meant.
Debi dropped her load of fruit with a huge, overexaggerated sigh. "Heavy! Tired! ...HUNGRY!" she almost shouted, and flopped onto her back, flailing a little bit in the sand. But she didn't seem ready to throw a tantrum just yet.
Aoaka eyed her for a moment until it became evident that her temper wasn't going to flare, and then turned his attention back to the roasting fish. "Those look like they're doing nicely. I'll just cut some fruit, then," and suited actions to words before passing out juicy slices to the girls, and keeping one for himself.

Coral walked back and the put the furit where he said to. She sat down close to where the toddler seemed to fall down. Then she took the slice from Aoaka. She sniffed it for a moment and then ate. "Oooh, very nice!"

Debi reached for hers, and stuffed an overlarge bite into her mouth, causing her to almost not be able to chew. But she managed, and learned from her mistake by taking a smaller second bite. Soon she was finished.
"More! More, pease!" she said, and held her sticky hands to her Papa.
He considered the fish a moment, and then nodded. "One more, then you have to eat some fish before you can have anymore. Otherwise you'll be full!" he said, and passed out another round of fruit slices.
He ate the delicious sun-ripened fruit, and then checked the fish. They were good and cooked. He pulled them off of their sticks, and cut the meat up into smaller pieces for the little demon girl.
"Do you want yours cut up, too, Coral?" he asked, as he let Debi's cool a bit. The other two fish were already on plates.
The toddler had finished her piece of fruit and was looking eagerly at the fish. She didn't know that it was hot, and when Aoaka took his gaze away, she tried to reach for a piece, but the plate was moved out of her way deftly, and she sat back to pout, with her little arms crossed. "Want!" she whined.

Coral looked at it for a moment. Would she need it cut up? She then thought about it. "No, thank you." She nodded and then took the plate. After a bit of blowing on it to cool it, as she felt that would work, Coral took a bite.

Aoaka gave in, and passed Debi's plate over to her, making sure she had it before letting go. It wouldn't do to have it spill.
She eagerly began to eat. It had cooled down just enough that she wasn't burning herself, though she dropped the first piece, not realizing how how it still was.
"Hot!" she exclaimed, then turned to Coral.
"Careful! Hot!" she informed the other girl, thinking she didn't know.
Aoaka chuckled and started in on his own fish carefully.
"So, what do you think, Coral?" he asked conversationally.

Coral shook her head with a giggle at Debi. She then looked towards the adult who was talking to her. "Oh, very good. Thank you very much!" She then ate a bit more.

(( sorry it took me so long! ))
It was a good meal, and it cooled quickly, so it wasn't long at all before Aoaka had finished his. He cut a couple more slices of fruit, since they had such an abundance, and laid it out for anyone to take if they wanted it.
Debi also finished, and licked her fingers clean, going "MMMmmm!" as she did so. She reached for another piece of fruit, but it slipped from her grasp and into the sand. "Icky! Papa! Fruit dirty!" she complained.
Aoaka shook his head and handed her another piece carefully. Seagulls and other beach scavengers wouldn't mind a bit of sand on the fruit. "It's okay, honey. There's more. And some creature will probably thank us for the easy meal," he added.

"Yeah, you never know where sand has been." Coral giggled as she ate up her food. This had been a very nice day. She met knew people, told more jokes and got to eat good food. Very nice indeed.

Debi ate her fruit happily, full and content... and just a wee bit drowsy. She yawned mightily, but quickly tried to look awake. She wasn't tired! No way!
Aoaka, however, saw this, and smiled. He knew she'd be ready for a nap after she ate. It was routine at this point, though she sometimes fought it like the little demon she was.
"Well, then... Coral, do you have someone you stay with? I think Debi needs a little downtime, but I can take you home first," he said, deliberately avoiding the word nap, since it would set Debi screaming.
Debi, however, seemed to know what was being talked about. "I no want her to go! Coral, stay! Stay, stay! Please?" she asked, turning on the charm.

Corla looked at the young demon. She did look tired. "Oh, well I just live on my own in the water." She pointed to the alke. "I have always lived alone there." She smiled.
Coral looked back at the demon who wanted her to stay. "Oh, well I could maybe."

Aoaka nodded in response, but frowned lightly. He'd lived alone like that when he'd been an Aion... but now that he was responsible for taking care of someone else, he had a much larger feeling of how dangerous that could be, even in a mostly peaceful society like this one.
"You don't have anyone you stay with?" he asked, just to be certain.
Debi, meanwhile, didn't care what they were talking about. She launched herself at Coral, and grabbed her arm in a hug. "Yay! Stay! Play?" she asked, then giggled as she heard her rhyme.

Coral shook her head no. "I'm a lone comic. Out in the night. Putting down whoppie coushins to cause a laugh. No one knows me, no one sees me. Just out there giggling in the night." Coral said a poem as she giggled to Debi.
