You don't think they can drag it out much more? They have dragged it out for the entire series. When it presumably ended, it still reemerged.

I know at least they can't make them break up and get back together again.

She always gets hurt. She'll probably fall against a table and flick her switch from "Not Hurt" to "Hurt" - who cares? All we know is it's gonna happen.

They broke up because Clark wasn't honest and Lana kept getting hurt when he was around.

Now, she knows his secret and will most likely get hurt again by some freak accident and Clark will blame himself and break it off.
