Kyoko nodded. "A date!" She started laughing herself, Crystal's cheer and laughter catching on. New friends and memories were something Kyoko treasured just as much as old friends and memories.
Then she blinked. "Tou-chan? My boyfriend? No, no! It's short for 'Otou-chan'. It means 'dad' in the way I use it. Calling him 'Otou-san' or 'Otou-sama' just sounds...too stuffy for him. My boyfriend is Kyuubi. Maybe you met him at the Masquerade? A few inches taller than me, kinda spiky red-orange-blonde hair, red-gold eyes..." Describing others had never been Kyoko's strong point. She could give generals, but until you lined up a group of people with that general description and had Kyoko point them out...Thankfully, Kyoko was sure not many people looked like Kyuubi.

Crystal looked startled, blushing a little, "Oh, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. How embarrassing!" She laughed a little, shaking her head; she didn't know any special languages outside the common tongue and the little nicknames her parents used. When Kyoko started to describe Kyuubi, her eyes got a touch wider, and some of the mirth faded from her face.
"I couldn't forget him. He...he, ah, hit my date for not being...b-bi-sexual." Suddenly the situation at the Masquerade was so absurd that she started to laugh again, the type of laughter that has a free quality to it that could lead a person to continue for a prolonged period of time. Crystal covered her face with her hands while she laughed, her shoulders shaking as she used her fingers to wipe her eyes; she remembered being so scared at the time, and now, in the face of a spring afternoon, it was beyond silly.

"It's okay! I usually end up forgetting my father's language isn't widespread around here." She grinned embarrassedly, then blinked.
"He hit him?" She palmed her forehead. "Kyuubi-ku~un...He is a little hot-tempered..." Blinking at Crystal's laughter, she was soon dragged into it. It did sound quite silly. And now she knew why Kyuubi had seemed to be in such a foul mood when she had found him at the Masquerade. She'd have to talk to him about it later.

Crystal struggled to get her mirth under control, settling her peels of laughter into a sporadic giggle. "I-it ended well enough. I dare say he - my date, then - has forgotten about the incident." The woman picked up her napkin to dab her eyes, a low chuckle still tickling her throat. "Forgive me. Saying it out loud just strummed the right chord." She smiled apologetically, not for the first time that day, taking a deep breath to calm down.
Exhaled in a sigh, she continued to shift between smiling and grinning; oh, that laughter had felt so good! It'd been a long time since she had laughed with such abandon, even if it was at the expense of the handsome and playful Irene. Crystal suddenly caught a breeze from inside the restaurant, bringing mouth-watering smells of food being prepared. Her stomach rumbled, momentarily forgetting Irene's antics. "Mmm, I hope that's ours. I'm going to eat my napkin pretty soon."
She started to giggle again, feeling quite silly. Between Qadir's presence and disappearance, working with Kyoko and remembering Irene's content expression when she had gotten between him and the fuming Kyuubi, she was feeling free and...girly.

Kyoko chucked and shook her head. "No worries! It's nice that you're someone who can laugh at things that are passed. Knowing Kyuubi...It probably was quite funny." She followed an old breathing exercise of hers to recover the air her lungs had been deprived of from laughing. "I've had plenty of things that I thought were serious...and then looked back on them and ended up bursting into giggles."
As if on cue to Crystal's words, the waitress showed up with their food. She placed the appropriate plates in front of their orderees, and asked if they wanted refills for their drinks. Kyoko nodded, having finished her iced tea a few minutes before, before the laughing fit. "Wow...this looks so yummy!"

"Oh, I don't know if my stomach cares how it tastes anymore," Crystal grinned broadly at Kyoko. She breathed in the heavy scent of the alfredo and chicken, exhaled with a happy sigh and grinned once more. Oh yeah, that was the good stuff. She picked up her napkin, spreading as best she could over her lap; she wasn't trying to be dainty, rather, spare herself the extreme embarrassment of wearing her food, as could be the case with pasta. "Let's enjoy, shall we?"
The young woman was almost sad that she'd have to go back to work after this. True, her mother would allow her to stay out if she really wanted to, but she couldn't shirk her responsibilities. It just wasn't who she was. She'd enjoy the meal with her new friend and make sure she had her flowers nice and fresh when she was ready for them, bid her a fond farewell and hope to see her again soon. First the men, and now the lovely Kyoko...although she suspected that the two girls would manage to get in trouble more than with Irene or Qadir, as impossible as that seemed.
This whole 'making friends' business wasn't so bad with kind hearts like this. Crystal would look forward to more time spent in Kyoko's company, and the memories that would ensue.
