Chapter 8Gee would have never guessed that quiet Layla had a screwed up family member, he just couldn't believe it.
Her eyes got dim. He looked away...he had seen that look in a girls eye one to many times before...it was the look that made you want to hug a girl and never let her go.
"It was...my sister. Jo..." She shook her head and laughed sarcastically. "She was such a ******** up."
"Don't say that." He moved her soft hair out of her eyes as she looked up at him.
"She was though. she would come home everyday...drunk or stoned." She laughed again. "Or both."
"She got through it though...?"
"That's the thing." She mumbled. "She didn't."
He opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.
"She's still screwed up. My parents are TRYING to get her in rehab." Layla eyes searched Gerards face. (Ah, I bet we're all so jealous right now.)
"I'm sorry."
"I had to get out of the house. So...I just...left...right after college ended. I had to leave. I moved in with Emma." Layla thought the guy she was staring up at really understood, unlike Ryan and the others. Or...was it just because she thought he was oh-so-pretty? She had never opened up to anyone like this before.
"It must have hurt you so bad to see someone you love like that." Gerard said, trying to relate Laylas hurt to Mikeys inner female feelings.
"Yeah. She'd go crazy sometimes. I'd take the last beer...and she'd just...insult me and call me these crazy things that no sister would ever say to anyone in the family." Her eyes looked dazed, and far off. She just thought Gerard looked captivating from her angle.
Gerard was trying to relate what she was saying to himself. Had he acted like that around people?
"Jo...was just...insane...she was just like me when she was sober. But...when she came home like..buzzed...she'd just go insane. She's walk down the hallways singing like...the Pokemon theme song...she'd take crazy pictures of herself and laugh like she'd just seen the funniest movie. It really scared me...and the worst part was...was knowing that I couldn't do a thing about it...because what was I...? Just...a little sister who didn't know what she was doing." Honestly...what WAS she doing? Opening up a guy she'd just met?
Ah, Layla.
Gerard was struggling with himself. He was trying to remember what he acted like when he was stoned or drunk. He'd seen videos of himself...they scared him...it was like watching a person take over your body and do s**t you would never have done if you had control.
The prices of 'feeling good.'
Layla sat up and brought her legs to her chest again. Gerard hugged her, and said to her, "It's okay. It's okay now. I'm here and we can go through s**t together."
She shivered from the cold...or was it the sudden burst of heat she got from Gerards hug? She returned the hug and just held him for a minute...trying to ignore the few tears crawling from the corners of her eyes.
"Really. It's okay now."
He was so comforting. She'd heard My Chemical Romance had saved lives, but she had never actually thought that this rocker was so...well...reassuring...the was he toned his voice made her feel like she was okay...and that even though she had a problem...so did he...and they could get through anything. She now knew why she had heard people say "Oh, and as soon as I met the lead singer, I bent over and started to cry..."
Aww.
"Thanks, Gee."
He nodded and let go of her. "No problem."
She dragged her finger under her eye, checking for smeared eyeliner.
Do you think she had opened up enough?
"Gerard! Smile!" Frank had popped up from a bush a few feet away and a flash of bright light blinded the two.
"Whoa! What the hell?!" Gerard lunged for Frank, missing him by an inch.
"Dude, this is adorable. We have to keep it." Frank showed him the picture and yanked the camera away before Gerard lunged at him again.
"I don't mind, Gee, let it be." She smiled and stood up.
"Do you guys wanna head back? It's getting colder, and I can't stand it." Emma said from behind Mikey.
"Yeah. I'm getting cold, too." Mikey shivered and pulled his jacket closer.
"So...are you MCR people staying over night?" Emma concluded.
"I think so. That'd be fun, and it's sensible." Bob mumbled. "The next hotel it like...an hour away, and honestly, I don't want to drive."
"Kay. Then, we better head back." Emma said, pushing the boys.
Oh dear.
2 girls...and 7 boys?
This can only get more interesting as the night moves on..
Comments:For the record...I had just watched this video...and found it to be the scariest thing in the entire world. I just couldn't get over it.
Gerards 'Issues'Honestly, it was the thing I was thinking about while I was writing this.
He's just my ******** hero. =]
