Donovan raised a brow at Urich's completely shocked expression, "I said she adopted them, not gave birth to them. If she had done the latter then you would have a reason to go slack jaw on us."
He thanked Ulani for the water and after taking sip simply uttered Elnara before taking another. He had to admit it was amused, but then again he was use to adopting. In fact that particular time was just filled with... children.
"It's quite simple, she had found a vase before she left, but as it turned out to be a Second vase."
Which now that he thought about it, it was a good thing Elnara came back then.
"And she simply adopted the two other Seconds... now that I think about... Kara adopted Kali that same day too. Well, that explains a lot," Donovan muttered more to himself.

Kara watched in interest at Urich's face, she found it funny because normally things like that didn't cause such a drastic reaction... when you were Kara that is.
"Are you going to be okay?" she asked Urich kindly.
It looked like he was on the verge of a spazz attack.

Ulani was delighted. "Elnara's starting a family of her own?" she said brightly. "That's wonderful!"
Ulrich got himself back under control and closed his mouth with a snap. "I'm fine," he nodded, his eyes still wide. "And I heard the adopted part - but still ... just the idea ... three children, and in only a few of your months ..."
He wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead. "It's ... quite a shock, really," he finished weakly.
Ulani giggled. "I think it's great. What are their names?" she asked eagerly - since she had been in the kitchen the first time. "Tell me about them!" And she sat beside Ulrich and brought her feet up onto the couch beside her, and leaned against Ulrich's side.

"You...." Donovan pointed to Ulrich, "Have not been living with someone like Kara, trust me when I say this. Three children, is actually not so bad. Judging by the birthdays of the children Kara has, since a whole strew of the celebrated it, she's adopted nine children within two months. Three kids are nothing."
It was a wonder why he wasn't phased by such an idea.
"This is normal," Donovan told Ulrich matter of factly, "Unfortunately...." he teased at the end.

Kara promptly whacked Donovan on the arm for that comment just because, he was being a tease about it.
"I'll remind you now that there are two twins wtihin those two months," she told him matter of factly before turning back to Ulani with a wide smile, "The eldest is Celebor, and the two younger ones, since they were born at the same time are Skye and Serenity," she giggled, "Yes... after Serenity."

Ulrich shook his head slowly, calm once more. "No ... you don't understand," he murmured. "It's not the fact that it was three children in only a few months, but the fact that it's Elnara ... I guess it's just one of those things where you just had to have known her when she was a child."
Ulani's smile widened. "After Serenity? She'll be excited to hear that! Although," she amended with a slight chuckle, "she'll be excited just to know that Elnara's doing all right, and especially that she's accepted where she is."
She looked at Kara curiously. "I'm assuming that's why you're here, to find Serenity, then?" she suggested.

"Ah...." Donovan replied thinking about, "She had taken to having them so well that you're right it wouldn't occur to a person who just met her. Then again Celebor was unexpected I think, but it was a good surprise."
He was willing to admit, he would seriously hate to think what things would have been like if Celebor hadn't been around during those weeks. Donovan mused at that thought, even though the kid took things too literal at times.

Kara nodded at that comment, "Yes," she admitted, "The thing is, everything happened really fast, the string of events that led us back home. We hadn't expected it, but..."
Kara sighed scratched the back of her neck for a moment, it was very troublesome in a way. However....
"If we stayed any longer, besides it being very traumuzing to Elnara, I think Triton or Yue would have started a fight wtih one of the brothers. Yue, I actually expect this from, but Triton has more patience than that... he was ready to punch Elrohir I think."
It was saying a lot since she had relied on Triton's good sense and politeness, but even he could be pushed too far.

"As anyone would have been," Ulrich nodded in agreement. "That's one thing that the Southlanders are notorious for - no offense, Ulani."
"None taken," Ulani assured him. "Not like I care. I was born and raised as a Westlander, anyways."
Ulrich smiled and put his arm around her shoulders, then nodded again to Kara. "They're a very proud and prejudiced people, and some of them - Elrohir, Ruel and Riordan especially - will refuse to acknowledge anyone or anything that is different from their norm. To be honest, the fact that they reacted the way they did wasn't very surprising to us ... just disappointing."
He frowned. "If I'd been there, they'd have more than gotten punched," he muttered in a somewhat threatening tone.

"Yes," Kara admitted sadly, "It does happen, there isn't a place that doesn't, it's just not as common back home depending on where you live, and..." she sighed, "It was hard, mainly because the children... even though they are grown adults and I know this..." she added, "Can't understand that kind of reaction," she whinced a bit thinking about it though...

Donovan raised a brow a bit at Kara, "Kara, no offense, but Yue and Yukito are the worse people to try and understand exactly what happened those months... years ago," he corrected, "Your boys are married to people from a different race," he would not even go into gender.
He grumbled a a bit at the thought of what happened.
"At any rate, it's done, we only need to worry once Celebor finally gets his way and is able to visit, and since Seconds tend to learn things quickly, the whole.. once you learn the language, isn't going to last long," he replied taking it in stride, "The point is, Serenity deserves a heads up, and now we know the portals are working, which is good. And you got side tracked about Gion," he reminded Kara about the sword.

"Ah, right," Ulrich nodded sheepishly. "Sorry. Gion left before the last snows had melted, and we don't expect him back until they come again - so it's going to be a long time before he's coming back. Serenity on the other hand - since she's really the one you're looking for - has promised us a visit sometime within the next few days ... if you'd like to stay here and wait for her, you're more than welcome to do so ... just don't mind our other visitors ..."
Ulani nudged Ulrich softly in the ribs. "You make it sound like they're going to be a problem," she murmured. "It's not, the others shouldn't be a problem at all ..."
She turned to face their guests. "But of course you're more than welcome to stay here with us, the room you had last time is still empty - if you'd like it again. Ulrich is right, Serenity should be here in a day or two."

"Thank you," Kara replied gratefully, "We would like that, it won't hurt staying for a few days, and this will be one of the few chances we'll have for a break yet."
She wondered if it would be anyone previously whom they had met. That would be an interesting thing to find out.

Donovan nodded in agreement, it was that or go off travelling, but they would be surer to find Serenity if they just stayed put.
"I don't suppose you know where Gion stays when it isn't winter?" Donovan inquired.
That way they could track him down, they were going to have to. Honestly, he didn't know what was more unbelievable the fact that his father knew Kara's father or the fact her father got himself trapped in a sword.

Ulrich and Ulani exchanged a glance, then both of them shrugged at Donovan.
"He travels," Ulani replied simply. "Though these past few years he's decided to actually do something constructive with his wanderings - besides test himself as a fighter. He's started mapping the Four Lands, improving on the old maps - well, and updating them, since of course the land has changed since those maps were made."
"Does a far better job than the old cartographers ever did," Ulrich put in.
