Matthias sighed. So push had come to shove... Oh well. He would enjoy tearing these bastards limb from limb. He looked at the vampire in his grasp, longing to rip out his vocal chords with fangs of his own. Unfortunately, morphing now, of all times, would require far too much energy and would be a waste in the long run. On top of that, it would most certainly get Dara killed. Matthias looked up at the vampire and released the unconscious one. He held his hands up at either side, palms toward his opponent (and soon to be victim), to show his harmless demeanor. "Alright. You've got me. What can I do!" There was an emphasis on the final word as Matthias leapt forward and plunged a fist into the vampire's face, right over Dara's shoulder. Of course it would only stun the vampire, but Matthias was counting on the assumption that Pola and Drack would arrive soon to help, and that Dara might now be able to break free. If not, they were surely doomed one way or another.

The vampire staggered back in a momentary bewilderment.
Dara felt his hold her hand weaken and using nearly all her strength was able to break free of his grasp. Pulling herself but feet away she felt the magic around her again and quickly pulled it into her in a moment of extreme rage as she once again formed weapons of light in each hand. This time, though, instead of daggers she was able to form two smaller swords.
"Don't any of your kind ever lay a hand on me or mine again!!" she bellowed with fury as she turned towards him again, just as he was recovering and plunged her blades into his chest, before swiftly pulling them away and watching as he turned to dust.
Drack and Pola had finally managed to fight their way and kill the original group of attackers. They made their way up to Dara and Matthias to look apon what had happened.
Dara still maintained the swords in her hands, but her whole body was shaking now, as she stood unwilling to look at anyone. Instead, she gazed off into the forest. Her breathing was ragged and her face a mask again.

Matthias stepped back after his attack, and watched as Dara tore the vampire apart. From victim to victimizer in half a second. It was a beautiful sight. When she was done, he turned away and looked down at the remaining vampire that he had attempted to use as bartering material. He knelt down and placed a hand gently on his throat, holding the pharynx between his thumb and four fingers. With a sudden force, he pressed down, squeezed, and then pulled. There was a ferocious tearing sound, and the vampire came to consciousness only to find suffering, and the brink of death. Matthias stood and let him squirm for a little while. It was the least he could do for Gordo. Once his need for vengeance was sated, he dropped a heavy boot on the vampire's face. The entire body felt to dust, and he looked at Pola and Drack. "How did you fare?" he asked in a flat tone. He had multiple emotions swirling in the back of his mind, and so he did his best to keep all of them from his voice and expression. He found it easiest to handle them when in solitude. For now, they would have to wait.

Drack and Pola both seamed in agreement that the vampires they had faced were but simple pawns to be too easily torn apart in the battlefeild, though they had offered a great deal of distraction to the both of them.
"Never have a seen such rash actions," Pola said, "that didn't have any tactical thought from the vampires, in all my years as a wolf. Though, it does seem as if the lesser experienced were trying to distract us from Dara; I do not believe they could have actually known that when we came in search for our own wolves, that we'd bring our alpha with us."

Dara tried to calm herself. She had been so close to feeling a vampire's fangs in her skin that she hated herself for being so weak as to not be able to fight them off. She was so stupid.
Trying to calm her emotions she slowly allowed her magic to flow out of her body. She knew that had she not been in the graveyard of her ancestors, she would have never been able to summon such large weapons and not feel drained of most of her energy.
After taking a few deep breaths she felt herself calm a little and she turned back to face the others.
"Are there any left living?" she had to ask.

Matthias merely nodded to Pola and Drack. It was all he could do to keep himself under control. Conflict with vampires always got him worked up, and this skirmish had been particularly nerve-racking, so he was as tense as taut rubberband. The idea of relieving some stress on any possible survivors was very tempting. He took a deep breath, trying to sniff out the scent of a vampire. They had as distinct a scent as any other species, and to Matthias, it was particularly crude and disgusting, like a human that hadn't showered in months. Meanwhile, he scanned the scarred graveyard for signs of life; it was a rather ironic proposition in Matthias's mind. His eyes came to rest on the tatters of a coat or shirt that had been torn upon a headstone. He bound across the gap between himself and the cloth in two leaps. At least human form wasn't complete bondage; they still had access to slips of their power. Or maybe it was just the emotionally-charged adrenaline flowing through his veins.

He knelt slowly and grabbed the cloth then looked around. No trail was discernable in the collection of light footprints created in the fights, but he did notice a certain pair that happened to lead away in a steady direction, one foot landing at an odd angle with each step. Matthias pointed west. It made sense for a vampire to travel west. If he was on the run, and needed to find safety, he would also have to do so with the sun in mind. So, naturally, they would run (or hobble, in this case) west while seeking out shelter. "I think we've got a runner. Can I have him?" He looked over his shoulder, a mixture of rage, menace, and pure bloodlust in eyes. It was the gaze of a stalker, asking for permission to hunt and kill.

Dara looked at him for a long moment considering before she replied.
"Find him and bring him back, but don't kill him," she stated. "We need to find out why they were here, and if this was a premeditated attack or just a small group coming to attack."
She didn't want to let one live at all, but for her pack she had to know why this had happened. Once that information had been gathered she didn't mind killing the b*****d, but she had to find out.

Matthias exhaled softly and nodded. "After he's become useless, I'm claiming his life," he muttered and then turned away before an answer could be given. As he began to sprint through the graveyard, he slowed up, recognizing a certain area. He knelt slowly next to a headstone with a large chunk of the right corner chipped off, and laying on the ground just a few feet away. He read the name. It was Gordo's. He took a slow breath to keep himself under control, and leapt forward to continue his hunt. There was one thing in his mind: suffering. He wanted these vampires to suffer for what they did to Matthias's childhood, and to Gordo's, and to Gordo's family members. He was more than ready to share his suffering with them.

Once he was beyond the graveyard, the footprints became more prominent in the soft dirt. They were easier to follow. Farther along, he began to notice that the steps became deeper, and closer together, as if his prey were having more difficulty. He was getting close. Just then, a breeze blew into his face, carrying the scent he had been looking for...

Matthias slowed to a jog. He was still in the woods, and there were plenty of trees to hide behind. He eased into a cautious walk, looking in every direction, and constantly alert. The scent hadn't faded, which meant his prey was near. His breathing was slow and steady despite the long and hard run, and his moves were steady and calculated, careful not to give away his presence via sound. He tread lightly on the grass.

There was a cough that came from behind a tree ahead and to his right. He leapt across the gap, rounded the trunk, and frightened the young vampire hiding there. He cried out and fell over. Matthias advanced and picked him up by the wrist. Again, he cried out, obviously pained. Matthias saw why. There was a gash running from his shoulder to his hip. Pola or Drack had hit him hard, but not hard enough.

"Let me go, you b*****d of a wolf!" Matthias frowned and knocked the vampire against a tree. The nightwalker went limp. Matthias slung the vampire over his shoulders in a fireman's carry, grasped one ankle and one wrist, then began the journey back. It was longer than the journey out, and for obvious reasons. When he arrived back at the graveyard, the horizon was a fair orange hue. "We need to put him somewhere dark."

Dara nodded as Matthias returned. She had moved to sit with Pola and Drack beside a large oak tree that had been here more years than the pack had. She moved to stand as she saw Matthias enter and now began to think. "We should put him in the holding cells under the Lucroi Nest."
She said the name, refering to her home, the largest home in the human town they lived in. It was her home, and her packs home. Having been in her family since before of the curse it had been passed down from alpha to alpha, and had at one time had over fifty wolves in her family living in it while any of the other twenty or thirty rooms were filled with members from the pack. It had always been open to the rest of the pack, and thus was where the leaders still stayed with Dara. These days though, the pack had generally stopped going to the Nest unless there was a big event, though its doors never barred anyone from the pack.
Under the Nest there was a dungeon of sorts, once used by her family to punish any in the pack that would disobey or harm the humans they had been sworn to protect during the time before the curse. Now it was simply where they held trouble makers for a short while till Dara could decide what to do with them, but its windowless cells were what made her think of it as a place to hold the vampire.

Matthias nodded and glanced at the horizon again. "Very well. I'm taking him there now. Follow or stay, it's no difference to me. Just make sure to let me know when he's being interrogated, and more importantly, when he's become a dead weight." Matthias turned, but hesitated. "Is there anything I'm missing? Anything that needs to be said or done?" He faced Dara again. "Sorry, but I feel like I'm forgetting something..." He looked between Pola, Drack, and Dara, waiting for one of them to say something, anything. He was starting to feel alienated for some reason; he was starting to think he was alienating himself again, trying to distance himself from others while he dealt with the torrent of emotions still whirlpooling in his mind.

Or maybe he was just really tired...

Dara thought on his words for a few seconds, wondering if there was anything she could think of.
"Oh, no," she said turning back to Pola and Drack. "Can you guys take care of the..." She had to pause before she went on as she felt the reality that she had lost two of her best friends to vampires. Sorrow filled her soul but she pushed it away as there would be ample time for her to mourn them latter; now, she had to be strong. "Can you guys take care of the bodies while I accompany Matthias back to the Nest?"
She may have been able to delay the pain but it didn't mean she wanted to see their bodies.
Turning away from Pola and Drack who nodded at her comand as if they senced her tenseness.
Dara strode beside Matthias and said, "Come on. I want to get back home as soon as possible, and I still need to talk this over with the family heads."

He waited until Dara was ready before he began moving, and moving quickly. Although he felt sympathy for Dara, the body needed to be put in a cell as soon as possible. One, because they needed to beat the sunrise. Second, because Matthias didn't want to risk the vampire waking up mid-trip, and attempting to bite them. "Let's make haste, then. He needs to be put somewhere safe, and soon."

Matthias didn't speak again until they arrived at the Manor that served as the Lucroi Nest. He allowed Dara to lead him to the cells, and had then tossed the body into the first one available, and slammed the door shut, an audible click occuring as it locked itself. As if on cue, the vampire could be heard grumbling as he came to. Matthias didn't stick around to hear him out. Rather, he made sure a guard was posted, and then escorted Dara back to the main foyer. He didn't know the way to the room where such a meeting for the family heads could occur, so he said, "Lead the way." Although he was not a family head, Matthias was hoping to be part of the discussion. After all, he had been a major participant in the battle.

Dara staired at Matthias long moments as if considering whether to take him with her or not. He did deserve to be in there but she knew the family heads wouldn't be pleased. To them the whole pack was about order and status. Just because a wolf thought he should be in on the underworkings of the pack didn't always mean he could. Most of the pack heads were older wolves with time to show their experiences.
Dara took him in and in the end nodded, despite her best argument against it. He had faught by her side and probably saved her life. Needless to say, she felt she owed him respect enough to allow him to enter the chambers for the meeting.
She had already ordered one of her wolves to bring the family heads to their meeting chamber, and as most of the family heads lived within those walls, it shouldn't take too long for them to be in the chamders.
"This way," Dara said and turned through the hall. "But if your family head has any objections I can only defend you being there to a point."
Each branch of the pack had nine major families in which were each given a family head to lead them and bring most of their matters to Dara. At one point in time there had been over twenty heads and families in the pack but as each one soon dwindled in size the other families had taken them in under their family name and head.

Gaia Name: Meilin Nokomis
Char. Name: Sesheta Forsythe
Race: Vampire
True Age: 152
Age they Appear: 16

Appearance: Sesheta is short at 5’2’’. Her red-brown hair is cut raggedly like a boy’s. Always, she wears a hat, to further the boy charade. She wears ripped pants at the knees and a tank top. On her forearms she has bands that cover some scars she has acquired over the years. A scratch of red is forever embellished on her cheek. She has light gray eyes that look green if she was ever in the light. A trench coat of sorts keeps her warm and further covers the scars that are scattered over her left arm.

History: At a very young age, a poison was accidentally splashed over Sesheta’s left arm. She was thought to not live, but she persevered. The scar left behind made her arm hard to move. An odd side effect of the poison was that she could now spend a small amount of time in the sun. She doesn’t like doing this for long periods of time because the scar grows more and more, making it harder to move. Her mother kept her safe in solitude so that the other vampires wouldn’t find this secret. In the end, some vampires did find them. Her mother was killed as she tried to save Sesheta. She got away, but is now always in hiding. She wanders near cliffs and hangs out in human libraries. Because of the way she dresses, she gets mistaken for a boy. Which is good when the vampires who are chasing her are looking for a girl. A small hatred toward high standing vampires is always on her mind.

Personality: Very independent. She has a massive temper if provoked correctly. On the outside, she has a calm face, but she is still young (for a vampire), so her mind is normally a total wreck. From her past experiences, she has come to hate being protected. Though, almost as a hypocrite, she can be found protecting the weak. From humans to werewolves, she doesn’t care. Her way of thinking can get her in trouble as she overreacts to most things or reacts abnormally.

Matthias waited patiently in the brief silence that followed. He knew it was a heavy decision for Dara to make, but he was sure she would find a way for it all to work out. If she didn't... Well, then he certainly had overestimated her.

But he hadn't. She nodded, and a wave of relief gently washed over Matthias. He nodded back and began to follow Dara at a brisk pace, eager to find out just what exactly made these meetings so secretive. Of course, he would have to be doubly cautious to keep any emotional outbursts to himself. He had a tendency to lose control of his anger every so often...

((Gah! SO short!!))
