Rowling herself has said that it's just a story. It is not meant to, nor has it, become a thing of the occult. These past couple of years, I have been stronger in my walk with God than I ever was before. These last couple of years, I have also been an avid fan of Harry Potter. The main thing to understand, as has been said by MANY others before me, is that Harry Potter is not real and everyone with a shred of common sense knows it.

How many people who are bashing the books actually know anything about 1) Wicca/Paganism/Druidism/Shamanism/Satanism/etc.? (FYI, Satanism has little to nothing to do with Satan...) and 2) the HP books themselves. How many of you can honestly say that you've read them and are able to make a judgement on them?

If we through out every piece of literature that dealt with magic, pagans, or anti-Christian things, we would have nothing left, save the bible and a few things dealing with that. No, that's not a bad thing, but we weren't given an imagination so it could sit and rot! If someone is STUPID enough to believe that HP is real, then they have serious mental issues. If you are weak enough to have your faith shaken by HP, then obviously you aren't very strong. It is MAKE-BELIEVE. Fantasy. Pretend. Fake. Nothing more, nothing less. It is not a pathway to the devil.

I read the books purely for the entertainment value, not the magical part. Is it a sin to be entertained? If you break down the story, it is a basic good-versus-evil plot, and good always wins. Is that such a bad thing?

i see nothing really wrong with reading the book. it's fiction. it's fantasy, there are fantasy books all around that has witchcraft.
it's not like people are gonna run around waving a "wand" shouting "charms" unless they are little kids, but everyone knows it's fake and JUST A STORY that i think is very entertaining to read

Come on...It's Fiction for Heaven's sake. The books have never said anything anti-God or denouncing Christianity. The books were written as fictional entertainment. It was never meant for persuasive purposes. If this is evil, let's call the Lord of the Rings evil too. Can't forget that magic. Oh, and we know that Bewitched must be evil because there's a witch! People need to understand that just because something isn't relating to Christian beliefs, doesn't mean that it is going against it.

I'm not too fond of our new Pope.

Exactly. Anyone who looks like Emperor Palpatine is not to be trusted in matters of what is evil. Hehe. Pope Palpatine.

What I've read time and again is "if you don't like it don't read it" responses.

The part that it is evil isn't all that is important, the fact that the next generations are picking it up is the part that does not make sense. By all means unless every religious book spawned from originals is read in schools, I will not stand for a classroom to read and learn witchcraft on God's time.

Furthurmore, I remember how much studying I was put through when reading whole books. So, it's not like this stuff is going to be in one ear and out the other.
Then what about the already tough times for Christians?

It's becoming cooler to be gay, wiccan, and I don't want to think of what else.
It was bad enough violence, teenage pregnancy, underage drinking, illegal drug use, and depression among all people plagues the nation.

I don't know about you people who claim to be followers of Christ, but it is my massiah who flipped a table. He didn't shyly ask politley for the misbehavior to stop. The softening of the will to live from society's media glorifications is weak link in this chain. I will stand strong against all who oppose God. I'm not gonna let satan walk over other people if there is something I can do about it.

A Christian with a persecution complex? I'm genuinely shocked. Really. I never suspected such a thing could exist. Ever. Because Christians would never have a persecution complex. You, sir, shock me. You really do.

Actually, I do. Persecution complexes are quite annoying, and not enough people here properly crush them.

Kutsuke
Stick to the topic next time.

Hey, you brought it up.

A. I didn't bring it up
B. It's not a complex if I feel that my life is harder because I'm a Christian. The bible already let me know that being a Christian is gonna be hard. I know some people think that Christians are persecuted more than they actually are, but I prefer to live in the real world where they are only persecuted as much as they actually are. You may have an OPINION that they are not persecuted very much.
C. Unlike you who learned to talk from family guy, I use original material from the most high.
D. Me squeezing in a last word is not what I'm tryying, so if you to a line or two of whit or reason to share with me, pm or start a new topic please.

I speak no more or less than for myself in my sincere appology for not sticking to the topic. As you may realize now, though, after reading my post. I will not be made a fool of by satan's biddings.

Don't forget to pm the reply please or start a new topic. Thanks.

In most languages, including English, that is considered "bringing it up".

Kutsuke
B. It's not a complex if I feel that my life is harder because I'm a Christian.

What? Of course it is! That's exactly what it is!

Kutsuke
but I prefer to live in the real world where they are only persecuted as much as they actually are.

Which is not much.

Kutsuke
You may have an OPINION that they are not persecuted very much.

However, I can (and have, on several occasions in this guild) back up my opinion with fact and reasoning.

Unlike you.

Kutsuke
C. Unlike you who learned to talk from family guy, I use original material from the most high.

Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright.

No thanks. I like to keep my discussions public where everyone can see how ridiculous you're being.

It would be so easy right here to say something about how you don't need "Satan's biddings" to make you a fool.

But I'm above that.

Almost.

Kutsuke, pray tell, what is a persecution complex? (If what you say is true)

Oh, my gosh... Sinner, I try to be respectful to people, but shut up. O_o; You just take out ONE sentence from his entire post which didn't have much to do with what he was saying and have a hissy fit over it. Just stick to the topic and leave it alone. You're turning this whole thread upside down just because of your own issues and stubborness. rolleyes
