once I read all of this I find it odd that the bands at my school rehearse like we do. We actually start before school does (It's always first period) and work all the way through the period. My director doesn't tolerate us goofing off. He does make us laugh every once in a while though. We were playing Candide Suite in Wind Ensemble and he was trying to tell us what the last movement was and he pulled up one of the French Horn players and told her that he needed her to be the leading lady. He told us the "generic Broadway musical plot" which was "Boy meets girl, they fall in love and something gets in the way so they're separated. Second Act starts, they miraculously overcome whatever is in their path and they are alone on stage, singing a song of their love to each other and by the end of the song, all of the townspeople appear on stage and are miraculously singing along with them, and they know all of the words too!" I don't know, we all found it pretty funny...

Well my band director is crazy... he doesnt care what my section does(saxophone section) because we are the coolest section except this one kid who everyone thinks is a freak and my BD tells the kid he needs help, but one time he tied my boyfriends clarinet to a chair b/c he wouldnt stop lifting it up like in marching band. it was pretty funny.

no but during scale tests this girl--flute, like me! kalena always get crazy and laughs and thinks peopole are talking or luaghing during hers and our teacher just asks, "DO YOU HAVE TURETS?!" it's not funny having turrets(I don't personally, but it would suck I know tha tmucH) but it's just really funny how she acts and weird....and well yeah.,
sorry to those if you have turrets or something and this offended you...bad things happen in room forty one.

My bd saw a clarinet player walk in tardie for the second time and said, "You were tardie yesterday, now you're re'tardied' and it sounded like retarded and we all laughed. Also oe of our chimes brke again, one of the things fell off durng a song, and Mr.Brown said, "Don't worry we got CJ to fix it with some fishing line." since he's the white trash tuba player, we all thought it was hilarious.

My band teacher takes his class way serious sometimes, and that's when he yells and calls some of the class tards and stuff (he doesn't actually say tards, but you get what I mean). But when there isn't a concert or festival coming up, he messes around w/ us. Like the time during our sectionals we talked about the old SNL. It was really funny. XD

My director says similar things that mean that. He also likes to imitate voices...he's really good at yoda though. rofl ninja

Yeah my band teacher says stuff like that ALL THE TIME... He has a weird sense of humor... and he's kinda cruel ... At least I think so... mrgreen

lilcutie9 ok well my band teacher is always joking around ok and we have this one girl that is always laughing or is confused and she shows......ok ok most the class does this but still...........so he jokes by saying "I should get paid more for taching speacil ed" he calls us that because we are always confused about something or asking about something that was answered....and many other resions..........so does your band teach do the same? Well, since my school got a new band director this year, he does do this, but so does our previous band director.

Nah.
He makes joking, snide comments about certain sections of the band, but he never goes as far as to insult our intelligence...as a whole.
