He could smell them on the wind, knowing what their presence meant, for he had run into their traps before. He looked to Gyani and trotted after her, turning back every couple of seconds to make sure they weren't in any immediate danger. He could catch their scent all around him, making him tense. He strode by Gyani's side, not wanting to pass the the female, or tag behind because something could appear in any direction. Once they had been going for a couple of minutes, he could smell smoke... smoke meant fire... humans meant danger. He figered she'd be able to smell it to, and he looked to her with worry in his eyes. "Fire," they called, trying to warn her of the trouble ahead, but not being spoken for the reality of the situation. He kept going, though aware of what there could be.
Suddenly he came to an abrupt stop, whipping around infront of Gyani without a word. Soon after he whimpered to her, glancing behind the female and then to his slightly burnt tail. They were surrounded by the human flame... smoke, and fire enveloped all of the plants around them, forming an elemental cage. He glanced around frantically, knowing he had to find a way out. He took a final look at Gyani and then a few steps foward, moving toward the only tree that remained, slightly on fire. He took a running start and bashed his body into the tree. He winced, a few hairs smuldering from the fire. After a couple of bursts, the tree fell and he ran to her, nudging her urgently. "Go," he said, "Get out of here."

Gyani whimpered when shesaw him ram against the tree and nudged him when he came back. "She really wanted to know if the male was ok, but she knew they best get out of this before anything.
She trotted alongside with him, jumping on the tree and getting out of the fire. It pained her pawthe more she did, but it was for the best.. right?
How culd humans be this cruel? From on topof the tree, she tried to gain any scent, but sniffing was not a good idea. The heat made the deer carcass dissolve quicker, and stink horrible.
In a tiny circule of fire wich sheculd easly step through, she cought the movement of a tiny rodent, a squirrel. No matter how much enemies they were, she culden't bare to see it leave like that, and grabbed t gently by the tail. It squirmed and squealed, but found no reasong to fight. "Lefs gwu " She managed to mutter, even with the squirrel in her mouth and trotted along, dodging flames.

Kage watched her go, knowing she was okay, so he followed along side her. He saw the squirrel dangling from her mouth, and held by a small laugh, because this certainly wasn't the time for that. His fur scented of burnt flesh, nasty feeling as well as looking too.
They trotted along, dodging the flames until they came upon a clear opening where the river had seperated the human's flames. Kage slowed, glancing at Gyani every couple of seconds. He then stopped, sitting down and examining Gyani. "Are you okay?" he asked, for the second time today. Things just seemed to be getting harder as the day went. He took a deep breath and looked at her paw, trying to ignore the squirrel as best he could. "It looks sprainged," he whispered lowly, trying not to sound imposing. He looked back up to her, matching her eyes with his. They pleaded for her to be okay, for nothing to be hurt or broken. Now Kage knew the humans were their enimies, now more than ever.
He couldn't help but notice the squirrel wiggling in her mouth. "I see you saved a furry friend," he said lowly, giving a small reassuring smile. His eyes never left hers, for he didn't want to blink and lose her unknowingly.

(( Sorry for being slow, in many RP's xD;; ))
Whe arriving at the clearing, all she wanted to do was just flop over and play dead, but she wuldent. "Culden't just let it die like that, wuld be a waste. " She said after releasing the squirrel, who hugged her front paw before skittering up a tree.
ears folded back when the wolf remembered her past with humans, her past had been very unpleasant. She hobled to near the water and lay down, tail tip dippingin the water.
Eyes were stinging from the smoke and heat, lung choked by smoke, though not enough to do permaent damage. "I'm fine.. How are you? "

"I'm fine... Don't worry about me," he said, moving towards the water. He sipped it, his tongue lapping thirstily in the cool stream. He saw Gyani laying there, and couldn't help what he felt. Slowly after shaking off a few of the burnt hairs, he moved over to her, gracfully laying down next to her. His head landed on his front legs, his tail completely submerged in the glossy element. He leaned a little to the side, resting gently on Gyani's body. He was looking away, his eyes low and trying to relax, though they couldn't quite attempt it. He turned his head back to her, it still laying lightly on his legs. He hesitated, looking her over with compassion a couple of times. He was disappointed in himself; mad at himself for not being able to keep her out of danger in the first place. He wanted to apologize and comfort her at the same time. His body reacted to his emotions as he laid his head on her front paws, looking up at her with sorrow in his eyes. He couldn't find words, so he just laid there, his head under hers.

Gyani blinked her tired eyes whith Kage's movements, no one had done this, accept for when she wa sjust a few weeks old, in her mothers den.. The female nuzzled his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him, she culd fell he wastense and sorry just by looking at him!She then lay her head between her paws, prefering to not use his as a pillow.
To her, it was decided; as soon as her eyes got a bit better, she wuld change the sad mood,and start a game, all they needed was a bit of relaxation.. right?

He laid his head on his paws, still resting his body against Gyani. He managed to speak, but only in a whisper. "You are tired, please, get some rest." He looked around, raising his head high enough to show he would be fine while she slept. "I'll watch the area, nothing will hurt you, I promise."
He didn't look at her now, not wanting her to feel anything so she'd lay down and get some sleep. He knew she needed it, and he would allow her to by any means nessecary. He kept his eyes open, watching the distant sun go down and settle behind the mountain. It was now 1/4 moon time and pretty soon it'd be completely dark. Their day had been full, and he couldn't wait to spend a night with someone for once; but this wasn't just anyone, and that kept in his mind for a while.

Gyani nodded, though feeling a bit bafled by the second phrase.
Before she even tried to sleep, she nuzzled Kage's neck. "G'night. " She said, before laying her head on her paws again, slowly falling asleep.

He kept his eyes on her when she nuzzled him, surprised but it was a very happy one. He smiled and turned as she fell asleep. His thoughts flooded his mind, keeping out the darkness that surrounded him. He was finally happy, and all because of this female... Gyani.
The sun went down completely, the moon rising highly in the air. It was a full moon night, and a happy one at that. He felt no pain, no tired ache, only a silent happy feeling. Half of the night passed with his silent guarding, his golden eyes only turning to make sure she was still okay a couple of times. He saw her ribs expand and lower, that reassuring him she was still alive and safe. He couldn't help but feel unworthy of her presence, but still a pride inside of him beckoned. It was the closest feeling he had ever felt to being the Alpha Male for a pack. Guarding his family, their lives, their hopes and dreams. His heart thumped at the thought, keeping him occupied until the bird sang and the sun rose gently once again.

Gyani slowly awoke, yawning she looked to the side, when she was about tofreak out, she rmemebered. Its just it had been so long sense she slept with another nearby, sh got used to awakening alone, everything quiet, no movements but probably a little squirrel...
"Did you pass the WHOLE night awake. " she smiled, headbutting his shoulder, if so, the poor thing must be very, very tired!

Kage glanced at her with her movements and awakening. "Yes.." he managed, looking at her kindly. "I told you I wouldn't let anything harm you," he whispered, looking at her with gentle golden eyes. He rose, his body typically losing the burned smelled the fire had caused. Looking to the sun and back to Gyani he smiled, happy she had gotten rest and seemed happy enough. "So, what do you wish to do today?" he questioned, glancing around. He wanted to keep her busy, give her something to do to keep her around and not have her run off and leave him alone again. Nodding while swishing his tail lightly, he held back a yawn, watching the glossy water pass through the small rocks. "How'd you sleep?" he wondered, hoping she'd answer with a positive remark.

"I know, didn't doubt it, " Gyani grinned and lazyly got up, streching her paws and shaking her fur. "And I slept well. " She continued. "As for what to do, How about... " He voice trailed and she pawed at his shoulder. "Tag! " The she-wolf chuckled, bouncing back ward and landing in some sort of bow, tail wagging in a playfull manner before she jumped up again and started to run, only taking a pause to know if he wuld chase. >3

"Ha, so playful you are," he said, giving off a slight laugh. He came foward a couple of steps, then added a little bounce to his movements. "I'll get you," he mumbled, replying with a small grin. He followed after her, watching her movements and trying to map them exactly. He was actually get some enjoyment out of this, which was a definate surprise. He kept after her and finally came upon her, then her getting away again. He snuck up behind her, disappearing from her view for a second, then coming up beside her and licking her nose. "You're it," he whispered in her ear, bouncing away once again.

He was tagged again, but turning around quickly he was hot on her trail. His tail swaggered back and forth, him copying her movement nicely. She made a sharp turn, and he leapt to tag her. This sent him in a light tackle and fall. He ended up laying on his side, completely flat, with Gyani landing on top of him. His eyes lit up as he looked to her, not speaking for he couldn't find the right words to say. He just laid his head back down and stayed still, waiting to see the reaction of this his new female.
