After seeing the new movie when it first came out, I bugged my mom until she bought it for me and vola! I have the Leroux Phantom of the Opera book.....now I wish I only had the susan kay book.....maybe I can sweetly talk Solytaire into letting me borrow it *bats eye lashes at Solytaire* But I do have, along with the original book, the new movie on dvd, lon chaney PotO, and Robert Englund PotO. I have also seen another veeeeery strange version...which disturbbed me...Erik had no mask or deformity, and stuck rats down his pants for pleasure.....*shudder* baaad....it was like Phatom of the Opera was mad into a veeery bad porno *shudder, goes to kill the people that made that version*

What?

Wait. What? gonk

veeery wroooong....disturbing Phantom of the Opera movie....

It left too many questions unanswered.. I mean.. If Erik thinks he's a rat, how can he speak/write/play the organ? And if the rats were his family, why put them down his pants...? I know if I had the opportunity I most certainly wouldn't put my brother down my pants! o0

Yea and why the heck did his parents abandon him? I mean in this version, Erik had no deformities what so ever. There was no reason for his parents to abandon him...none!

In that movie, his mother was a whore. It's not uncommon for a prostitute to give up her child. And since back then Catholicism reigned, it was against all good sense (to them) to abort or kill the child. So she sends him on down the river like Moses.

Which was stupid.

But then again, Mr. Argento's version as a whole was rather stupid and far-fetched.

The Phantoms girl
When I was in my Drama class they said that we could do some musicals in our class and I suggested that we do The Phantom of the Opera. So my teacher said it was ok and the boys tried out for Roul's part or the Phantoms part and the girls did the same for Carlotta or Christines. I wanted to try out for both parts because they both show up in the play a lot. I first tried out for Carlottas and they said I should probably try out for Christines part. And so I did and there were only two girls left me and this girl name Rachel. Rachel was a good singer but when she hit the high notes she would mess up. So................................................................... THEY PICKED ME TO BE CHRISTINE
I was so happy when they picked me and the guy that played the Phantom was the guy I have crush on. And the guy that played Roul was really cute too.
I was so glad.

That's one of my biggest dreams....for our school to do POTO for our musical and for me to be christine and have guys I liked be Phantom and Raoul.

I'm so happy for you! whee

thanks im so glad someone is happy for me
when I first told my sister she got so jealous

I forgot to mention this yesterday.

Went to Target to help get a baby shower present. I got bored so I skipped over to the DVDs and browsed through the Musicals. Nothing is complete until I check for The PotO DVD (why I dunno. I want to know it's there) and I found the Robert Englund version.

I scared maybe a handful of people and two workers with my squeal of utter delight.

And then I stayed up until 7 am watching it because I couldn't sleep. X3

I discovered last week that the people I babysit for own a copy of the 1990 version of Phantom of the Opera starring Charles Dance.

The kids are getting awfully sick of watching it, but I couldn't be happier xD I absolutely love Charles Dances interpretation of Erik... whenever I read phanfiction I always have his version in mind.

Last night was the greatest day of my life! I saw "Phantom" on broadway, I had the first 4 seats on the right mezanine, no one was in front of us, and I had a perfect view of the stage! And when Erik was singing "All I Ask of You (Reprise)" and he was one the angel thing, he reached out his hand to the crowd, and it looked a sif he was reaching out to me (*dies*) Oh my God, I wanted to jump onto the stage when Hugh Panaro began crying at the end. *dies again*
You know, I dont cry for movies/plays/anything, but I cried at phantom! heart
Now I know why phans exist *Becomes one*

AND in additioin to my lucky day:
During intermission, my mother and sister went to the bathroom, but me and my grandmother stayed in the seats.
My grandmother leans over and sais: "Hm... Now I remember... I saw the old silent movie of this"
"The Lon Chaney one?"
"Yes. And I also saw the one were they threw acid on his face."
"OMFG Grandma, you rock!"
"And I also read the old book... By who... Um... Gaston Looks or something..."
"Gaston Leurox?"
"Yes... Yes, I read that book."
At that point, I basicaly screamed at the top of my lungs and hugged my grandma.
(I've got a phantom phan in the family!^^)

My grandma asked if she could lend my Leurox!book today, just because she didn't remember any of it. And, I brought up the topic of Susan Kay's version being reprinted, she said: "Then we have to keep an eye out for it."
OMFG! I love my grandma!

I just have to post this. There's no getting around it.

Okay, so I had got my mom to drive me to this suburban Borders, just to see if they had the PotP DVD. All my previous attempts to scour the Borders stores (which means, like, two) had been in vain. And I was beginning to worry that I would never get the DVD. I searched high and low on the shelves for it, but to no avail. Then I looked in the computer search thingy. Nothing. It said "order at information desk". So, growing ever more desperate by the second, I resolved to ask at the information desk. I would give my grandmother's phone number, so my mom wouldn't know what I was getting. Still, I was hesitant to ask, because I have this whole problem with being self-concious whenever I have to ask for help finding or ordering something, especially if I like it a lot. But on my way, as I was slowly waalking to the information desk, this guy comes up and asks me if I need help. I say, "Sure. I'm wondering if you have The Phantom of the Paradise." He's like "The DVD or the soundtrack?" I was kind of impressed that he knew what it was. Anyway, he looked it up, and the store had none. Then he asked if I wanted him to search for it in other local stores. I said sure. So he looks it up, and two stores have it. One in another suburb...which basically meant I couldn't get it because of no public transportation, and my my mom definately wouldn't drive out there just to get something. Besides, I was trying to keep what I was buying a secret. But when he said the other location, it was in the downtown area of the city. Which means full of public transportation so I don't have to get my mom to drive me there. I was so happy when he said that location. So now it's being held for me. I'm going down there tomorrow to pick it up. I was trying so hard to stop myself from grinning when he found it there. God, that was so cool.

And on a sidenote, while I'm down there, if I can find them, I'll pick up some fishnets. And put them on. And wear them when I go to get the DVD. In celebration of my triumph. Oh yeah.

(Sorry for the double post...just somehow seems better this way)

Squee! I got the DVD. I was so happy. When I watched it, I felt like I had been deprived of Winslowness for a long time. It was nifty. I was spazzing out all day. As I was watching it, I was being overwhelmed by Winslow's Winslow-ey Winslowness. Overwhelmed, I tell you.

I could use a tranquilizer now. I think my family members have considered giving me some already. Heh. It was crazy.
