Oh lord, her tone was that of if she opened her moutha horde of bees was liable to come swarming out. Well, what exactly could he do? His own heart and happiness had to be considered. He also knew that she was wary of stallions like him, she'd have to learn to give a little too.
Moving forward carefully towards his now very hurt mare, "Aghra, you're not understanding this at all." Oh lordy, goodbye ribs. If she didn't approve of his touch right now, which was rather likely, "I know ye're upset with me, but when I say leave I mean simply that I wouldna pursue a more romantic relationship.
Slipping his neck against hers protectively and as soothingly as he thought she'd allow him right now he continued to console and shush her, "Lass I'd like ter think I understand ye jest a wee bit if ye've a mind ter listen. Ye'd never be just a broodmare. Ye'd be my mate, lover, and mother. He stepped back far enough to stare into her eyes, "We've a lot of gettin' to know first 'fore any of this happens lass. I just felt it necessary ter tell ye."

Not understanding? Well, that was the understatement of the year. An ear flicked backwards as she heard his approach, she really shouldn't have turned her back on him. Not a very smart idea at the moment. His next words made roll her eyes. Right, no "romantic relationship" would be pursued anymore? Ha, like that thought would last; even Azariel knew that.
Her body tensed at his touch and she felt the distinct urge to kick him and kick him hard, but she was being charitable and actually listening, though his words didn't exactly make her feel that much better. She snorted softly, looking at him squarely, "Those are pleasant thoughts..." Ears flicked back again, "But that still doesn't change the fact you'd want children, does it?" All those sweet and pretty little words, meant to soothe her temper and allow him close again. She should do nothing of the sort.
Well, at least now she'd know his motives whenever he did anything. She didn't like this new development; not at all, but...she wasn't willing to give up on the green-shamrock just yet. Maybe they'd both change with time (preferably him) and one never knew what the future could hold in the first place. Still...the embarrassing thought of her having children wouldn't let go.
Why should it? Hadn't she always promised herself to be different from other mares? To do nothing like other mares? Having children was what mares did and she had been determined to avoid that affliction. Damn, she should have stayed home for her entire life.

Caelen continued to touch and rub at her neck. Lordy it was going to be hard if he had to give her up already. Strange how much a few weeks or had it only been days? Time was seeming to meld together anymore. And he was losing focus... It was strange how much the idea of going back to being a loner was going to hurt.
"Lass if yer violently opposed ter children I say we jest leave the issue ter wait til we've gotten ter know each other better." His green frame pushed up closer to her and he began to nibble on her shoulder lightly. Scratching at what most Soquilis weren't gifted enough to get to. A friendly gesture, but the rest of the contact said more.
"I can almost feel yer brain figurin' out what I seek ter gain from ye, but yer fergettin' I'm not like the other stallions ye'll me. Aye I want young'uns but I'd never use ye for them." Caelen breathed deeply of her scent, forcing himself to move back off of her.
"Now would ye like ter go fer that run with me?"

Azariel flinched at his touch, that was definitely not what she needed at the moment. He was a master at bad timing apparently, getting so close and into her space once more. "Nyaah," She shook her head, "Stop that, I want to think here,"--That might have been a mistake, eh? It was the truth though, and he should know these things for the future...okay, maybe not then either.
"It's not that I don't like children," Damn that felt nice, she should get him to stop soon. Him and his seducing. But it felt so good...no, no, remain strong here, this is an issue don't just give in now, then you'll never win again, "It's that I'm not terribly fond of the process to acquiring those children."
A snort, "You assure me of that every time," She nipped at his ear, "And though I thank you for that," She watched him move away, perversely wishing him back next to her. Damn it. She continued pointedly, "I'm trying to hope you're not like that." She huffed softly, eyeing him.
She raised an eyebrow and looked up at him through her white tresses, "The answer to that would be an "Aye", correct?"

Caelen just stared down at her and mulled over her words from when he had been grooming her. She was a tasty little package, but altogether too bitter when he got too close to her. "Lass I'll nae rush ye for young'uns, yer hardly past the time when ye were one yerself. Tis natural I'm thinkin' that yer not in the market for the wee ones yet." He was going to be impatient as hell for that time to come, but he could wait. Hopefully.
She was so lovely flustered like this. It made him want to nuzzle her again, but that only served to get him flustered. The control he had on himself was on a very short and very much straining leash. Right now if she gave him so much as a come-hither smile he'd prolly go tearing through the woods to leap off a cliff. Oi, drama.
"I'll continue ter assure ye lass as it's all I can do for ye. I'm nae every tom, d**k, 'n harry ye'll find all over the place. I'm simply Caelen yer very own shamrock if ye quit confusin' me."
He raised both of his eyebrows and hooted with delight, "Yer a fast learner and aye tis the correct answer!" It was polite and proper to give a lady a head-start, but his mare would be his equal. Nothing less. Digging his hooves into the ground and flinging forward Caelen bellowed back, "I'll race ye ter the river. The loser has ter give the other a kiss." Oh, she'd damn nearly fly to beat him he'd bet.

An ear flicked backward, she was just past being a foal herself? The assumption made her bristle until reality forced to her to see that indeed to him, she was just past foal-hood. She looked at him searchingly, that last bit had sounded a bit strained, was he perhaps hoping that she would soon be on that market?
If Azariel allowed herself a more optimistic and cheerful attitude, she would have told him he was sweet. He was, being so truthful to her and telling her how it was, always reassuring her over the things that concerned her, how could he not be? She couldn't have found a better person to stick with--wait, confusing him? She was confusing him? Ahaha, that was a point for both of them, she couldn't be more confused by the green stallion if she tried.
"Hey!" She shouted as he suddenly turned and bolted off. That was not fair, he got a head start! She charged after him automatically, his last words only catching up to her after she had given chase. What now? Whoever lost would have to kiss the other? Ha! Now she would not be losing. Not that she would let him kiss her. Nope, not that.

The wind was whistling in his ears merrily for a moment so he could catch her words before he really let his feet fly. Oi, she was a stubborn creature. He knew she liked his touch. Yet, she hadn't tried to touch him back at all. Probably for the best. Well wait, she had tried once but he had turned off his responses to her by then.
Was the little snot only willing to touch him when he was trying to behave? Today was getting more and more interesting especially when he heard her disgruntled.. noise and the sound of her hooves hauling tail after him. Oh lord it would be worth it to let her pass him if only to stare at that gorgeous..
CAELEN NO.
His conscience nearly beat him over the head with a stick. Damnit. He really was losing his mind. "C'mon lass if ye don't pass me I'm goin' ter enjoy seein' you blush as ye give me a kiss."

"Bah!" She fired at him, glaring at the green rump that belonged to the very creature who was doing all of this to her. And as if she'd kiss him! Her cheeks burned with embarrassment and for the first time she actually realized that after their first encounter, she hadn't really touched him, though he had touched her quite a bit.
So? hissed a voice, You've already said many, many times that you did not like touching! Why should you feel guilty over something like this? It isn't logical!
She was shoved back to reality as she realized she actually might be beginning to lose to the green stallion. Like hell she'd let that happen! She dug into the muscles she had trained for from lack of else to do and sped up. Losing was not an option this time, no matter how much she might enjoy getting the male flustered. In issues such as these, she had no problem, as long as it involved winning.

Caelen narrowed his eyes and began to pace himself. His plan was to let her lose to him albeit narrowly. But, if he lost to her he'd like that to be narrowly too. It wouldn't be good for her to think he was letting her win and he wouldn't let but it was going to be very close either way. She was a strong mare.
The little thing's ears seemed to be flicking back and forth and back and forth like two very confused beacons. So long as she focused on her running things would be alright.
The river they were racing to was still a good ways away and some trees up ahead would be obnoxious to go through at full blast, so he pulled himself back in a tiny bit. Hopefully Az would too, or else she was in for a lot of confusing dancing. Hm, maybe she's more agile than my bulky frame. A quick grin spread and he kept his eyes trained on her.. and her rump. Time for an interesting show.

Oh, ho, ho, had Azariel been aware of where the Celtic lad's eyes were trained on she would have been flattered, right before she kicked him hard in the ribs. His thoughts were just getting perverse now.
Aqua eyes watched him and caught his lessening of pace. What was he doing now? Conserving energy for the final run? Where was this river anyway? She had never been in this direction from home, at least not this far. "Caelen..." She eyed him strangely, why did she suddenly feel that he was looking at her in a not-so-innocent manner, "What are you looking at?"
She snorted, keeping her own pace for the moment, to get a bit closer to him just in case he was just holding back until the final stretch. Enough races with old friends had taught her all of the tricks, "And you'd better watch where you're going anyway." She warned, raising an eyebrow.

Oh lordy.. Life was certainly out to get him killed. Caelen looked up at the sky (back and forth between watching where his hooves went) and told himself to get it together. He wanted to know details about her, what his mind was focusing on could and would easily wait for years if needed.
"Lass I'm lookin' ter see what it's like behind ye because I'll nae be here for long!" His grin was wicked and teasing. Not too much longer before he's put himself into high-gear and possibly throw clumps of dirt to get to where he wanted to be. Aye, his mind was firmly out of the gutter now. It sucked.
"I'm watchin' I'm watchin' lass." An almost joyful thought came to his mind. If she was worried about where he was going to step then did that mean she actually cared if I were to fall. It was only a 1/2 mile dash towards the water. Another minute and they'd be upon it. Caelen would give her another 20 seconds in the lead.

The temptation to stop and glare at him, because she had a sneaking suspicion he was not innocent in his looking, was almost great enough to obey it. But she didn't, they were still in the middle of a race and Azariel had no intention of losing this one. Her pride wouldn't let her. That grin on his face didn't help matters either.
A laugh, "Who says, you'll take the lead again?" She shot back, throwing a smirk back at him. Like hell she'd give up her advantage.
She snorted, glad he was, it wouldn't do if she found her shamrock stallion falling and her winning that way. "Good, keep watching your hooves and not my behind." She had no proof he was but the feeling wouldn't leave her. She was a bit ashamed that all she felt more amusement then anger at him for it too. What was wrong with her?

The tempation to make her think his mind was utterly filthy and beyond repair was almost too much for Caelen to resist. The water up ahead could be heard and the last of the tree-dodging was behind them. Time to make his advance. Pushing through his already tired muscles he managed to pull up neck to neck with her.
"Ahh lass, we're both givin' it all we've got." Of course, this was all said through his deep breathes and huffing, "Why not finish tergether and we'll have ter jest give each other a wee kiss." It sounded reasonable to him. He had enough energy to win at the last second if he pushed as hard as he could. But finishing as equals had a much sweeter ring to him.
It was a definate bonus that she wasn't able to kick him right now. He had said enough bigoted and narrow-minded "manly" things to make all of his ribs officially dust. Oh-ho! Life was good. Now if he could only keep her running at all time.
"Look lass, we're in the final stretch!"

Azariel eyed him suspiciously, watching as he gained on her until they were neck and neck. Ah, so now he was trying to bargain with her? Hmm...well, she wasn't one to just give up like that, things needed to be one, after all.
But...gah, she was getting too conniving for her own good. Right now, she wanted to get back at the green boy, wanting to leave him as flustered as he did her. Why was she suddenly feeling these thoughts? Maybe it was because she was actually considering that draw. Damn. Breathing heavily from exersion, listening to him say they were in the home stretch, not wanting to lose but not entirely wanting to win anymore either she managed to sigh, "Fine." She kicked up dirt as she drove ahead, "But you'll still have to try your hardest!"

It was only twenty more yards until both of them would be planted squarey in a face full of water. At this point and time his body was worked up into enough of a lather that the cold water would probably be a god-awful shock.
She had sped up and he continued to do so. It was hard on his body to keep up as she was younger and much lighter. Thank god muscles were on his side. "Oi lass yer goin' ter have ter find someone ter rub down me legs after such a hard run." This had taken up almost all the the ground before the river and the speaking had made him fall back about half a length.
Shoving his nose out and giving one great big effort Caelen managed to pull up to her side again before they both finished.
Panting he lowered his neck and raised his eyes, "Do ye.. ad...mit.. we're equals lass?"
