Mine would be last year, our regionals. I was in the pit playing timpani that year. One part of the show, I walked over and played the crash cymbels and then waked back to the timpani, I found a small patch of mud, and slipped. Broke my leg and was the first pit person to ever break something, while NOT marching.

eek That would be so embarassing
I've never been really embarassed before, but I've had a few times when my face felt about ready to catch on fire..........
Like the time when we were playing cards in band and sitting on the floor, I kept taking off my shoe (a flip-flop) and then putting it back on because it would hurt my foot than feel weird without it on. So when the bell rang one of my friends (a trombome) decided to still my shoe and attempt to stick it in his locker which was outside the band room. Needless to say I ended up running down the band hallway with one shoe on and one shoe off yelling at the top of my lungs. Our band director was kind of peeved...

i just remembered another one! there have been a couple occasions where our sousaphone players have fallen on the marching field (which must hurt, with the instrument...) one of them fell during our big competition of the year and you can see it on the video! all of the little round sousaphone bells can be seen dancing around, and one just disappears...O_O

Every year, I have at least three embarassing moments in band, so I won't name them. but here's 2 embarrassing things that happened to 2 of my friends:
1. Last year at the spring concert, my friend Omar, who is an ace percussionist & will be the percussion section leader next year, forgot his mallets at the beginning of our set after we had come on stage (but before we started playing).
2. At our winter concert this year, my friend Jason, who is the jazz band's sax soloist this year, was late coming on stage, because his reed broke (at least that's his story).

we have these black manhasset stands and they have been known for coming apart because they are a bit old. i was pulling on the top of it to make it taller and it came off and hit my face.

another one (not to long ago this happened): on weekends i take my flute home to practice and so i take it out, put it together and leave it on my desk until i have to bring it back to school. well, one morning, right before i had to leave, i checked my schedule and found out i had band, so i grabbed my case and left for school. i got to band class, opened my case and found...my cleaning cloth and stick and thats it. no flute. i felt so stupid and people were laughing at me. sweatdrop

There was this one time when I put my trombone on a chair while I went to the bathroom, and when I got back and tried to pick it up I knocked it over on the other chair and when I saw the dent in it I started crying... crying It was tragic. My baby needed surgery after it, too! It was a very stressful time.

my friend said I had to post this:
in 9th grade, a bunch of us from the combined bands (SB, CB, & MB) & the jazz band went to Honolulu for the Spirit of Hawaii band thing. one or two days before we left, we had a "concert" at one of the open air market/strip malls. I was trying to fold my borrowed folding stand, and asked the a**. percussion leader if he could help me take it apart. right as I was asking him, the top came off, hit me in the face, and scratched my glasses so that I couldn't read through the left lens. and the day before that, we were at this "secret" isle, and as we were going down some steps, I slid in front of the "bachelor" of the band; fortunately he was very gracious, caught me before I made a complete fool of myself, and helped me pick up my beach bag.
here's what the most embarrassing thing that happened on the whole trip:
on the last day of our trip, our music council historian told 1 of the flight attendents that it was Mike Biles' 16th birthday, and asked if we could get everyone on the plane to sing happy birthday. and we did sing happy birthday to him...for the next month, he was giving everyone in band the evil eye. at the music awards ceremony, the seniors write "paper plate" awards. I believe Mike got the "Most Embarrasing Birthday" award. and he still holds that record.

Last year, one day in 8th grade, since band was our last period, I was starting to feel really eager to leave and go home.

Well, my friend who sat in front of me had a watch and I asked her what time it was. She showed me her watch, but our band director, Mr. Bailey, saw her.

He just glared at me before looking at his watch and saying, "We still have fifteen minutes, Addie. If you don't feel like sitting in band, then go. There's the doors right there. Go, leave if you don't want to stay. We don't need people like you, looking at watches every five seconds. Those are the kind of people we don't need."

I was SO emberassed because I started to cry and he just kept glaring at me. Jeez, sometimes he can make us feel like dirt...

Then there was another time last year where I couldn't stop laughing. He got mad and said, "Look. Addie finds that funny." in a real serious tone, because what he had said wasn't funny.

To this day, I still have no idea why I couldn't stop laughing...

This year at this really muddy competition I was freaking out so much to the point that some sophomores were getting...eh...pissy. ninja I didn't fall though. whee

At an earlier competition, I had to use the bathroom REALLY bad, so I kept missing the beat and getting off step, and I was also...dun dun dun...not counting, so when it came time for the entire band to about-face and march the other way...I did it like...two beats earlier. gonk

This last isn't really that embarrassing, but nerve-racking. We were marching in the Contest of Champions in this huge college stadium (on turf. blaugh heart ) and it was the finals performance...when both my shoes came untied. gonk

Oh, at a football game once, my friend Dalitso dropped her trombone slide down the stands! Twice! She had to go under the stands at the bottom and find it...

This isn't nearly as bad, but my friend dropped her flip folder, and we couldn't really easily get under the stands. It was the one away game the pep band went to, so... She's been without music ever since.

Wait, I'm not doing a very good job at staying on topic for this thread... eek

Well, my most embarassing moment was probably when, during a percussion ensemble we were performing for the rest of the band, I ******** up. sweatdrop And once, a few of the juniors and sophomores had to march in their field hockey uniforms 'cause they were late... xD And someone fell in the mud during Thanksgiving. Ugh, that was the entire band's most embarassing moment.

I have another most embarrassing moment to write. and once again it didn't happen to me:
this is the last year for our drum major. he has a late birthday, and when you're in band with the Bearcats, and it's your birthday, we tend to want to embarrass you. so anyway, it's our drum major's last year & his girlfriend wanted to do something that really embarrassed him. we were practicing for the field show the week of his birthday. at the beginning of band, instead of playing the field show, we did something he wasn't expecting. the flags were holding a sign that said "Happy Birthday Mike" and we were all waiting for him to give the tweets for us to start playing. instead of playing the field show, everyone started singing "Happy Birthday." at the end of practice, Mike was all "I wasn't expecting this."
